Has The Biggest Cameo For The Avengers Just Been Revealed?

As reported earlier today, Jenny Agutter spoke briefly on her involvement in The Avengers. In that interview did she reveal a huge cameo? Hit the jump for the details!

As DCMarvelFreshman posted earlier, Jenny Agutter is a "council member" in the new Avengers movie. She stated she hadn't seen a script until she arrived on set. She also said that she saw a parking lot full of Winnebagos, one housing Spider-Man and the other Iron Man.

Spider-Man she says? Spider-Man as in owned by Sony while The Avengers by Marvel Studios on the same lot? Could this be the biggest cameo for a Marvel movie to date given away in an offhanded comment about Jenny Agutter's involvement? Spider-Man may have a cameo, or at least be alluded to setting him in the Marvel Universe.

It is possible that the a mistake was made by the Radio Times or someone misspoke, but that out of all the heroes that would probably be wondering around while Ms. Agutter was there she chose Iron Man and Spider-Man seems odd. She claims to have seen the trailers, which more than likely were marked on the door.

For a while at least, the Wolverine cameo in First Class was a secret but could this cameo be revealed already?

To add fuel to the fire, in November it was reported that Disney would be involved with the merchandising on Spider-Man while Sony would keep the film rights. Showing cooperation on this issue could further a Marvel U and Sony Spider-Man relationship. While it seems unlikely that there is a cross studio cameo allowing the web-head to live in the Marvel U, for now at least we have to take the article for what it is. My guess is, and i hope I am wrong, that its lucky she didn't say Ironman and Batman, or Ironman and superman. She just said names of comic book characters to feed the nerds.
Ironnick - 1/22/2012, 10:12 AM
^^^ me too
Ha1frican - 1/22/2012, 10:14 AM
She probably didn't even know what she was talking about, but if TASM does cross over that would be awesome
marvel72 - 1/22/2012, 10:28 AM
i would love to see it,but i think she may be on about marvel created both characters not that a spidey cameo is in the avengers.
nerdman81 - 1/22/2012, 10:31 AM
Wouldn't it be awesome if instead of this being the incoherent ramblings of a senile old woman, that Disney did an insanely under the radar buy out of Sony Studios? haha A guy can dream!
PaulRom - 1/22/2012, 10:38 AM
I think Disney/Marvel did have partial film rights a while back, but sold them to Sony so they could buy the merchandising rights. So I'd be shocked if Amazing Spider-Man is in the MCU.
csdot - 1/22/2012, 10:39 AM
cant believe people are taking this seriously, she obviously just misspoke or was misquoted.
kurekurcubic - 1/22/2012, 10:42 AM
dont be stupid, she just meant that they were filming at the same place that they filmed spiderman and iron man
CaptainAmerica - 1/22/2012, 10:45 AM
While it's highly unlikely for this to happen, it's not IMPOSSIBLE. Marvel and Sony could have made a deal when Disney bought the merchandising rights from Sony. It would benefit both Marvel and Sony if this were to happen. Marvel would gain yet another established big name character for their movie and Sony would benefit by having this ease people into the idea of their new Spider-Man reboot.
CaptainAmerica - 1/22/2012, 10:55 AM
Although, honestly, neither Marvel or Sony need the help. Marvel is riding off of the success of Iron Man, Thor, and Cap. Sony will make hundreds of millions just with the Spider-Man name alone. If it were to happen it would be just for us, the fans.

I have no idea, it could be and it might not. Interesting theory though!

On how I feel about it. I guess it depends, while I think that the suit could use some work, I have been giving it some thought, and I was thinking that dispite the departure from the orignal design (which is horrible nuff said) I have thought of a better "orign" for the suit instead of Pete just making it, (I could see webshooters, but not that suit, it looks deigner made something the webshooters don't look like) But anyway this is my idea for the orign of his suit: The suit is made at Oscorpe perhaps by Pete? At any rate become of some reason or another he may need it and come into possistion of it and wear it in his Spidey ID.

As I'm sure someone will point out, what is he sewing in the trailer? His webshooters into his costume. That at least is what I hope, it would be a perfect reason for the very high tech design of the suit and make perfect sense of why a guy is running around it a stupid looking suit.... :P Something Rami's version never explained. But oh well... not hating btw I LOVE Rami's version!
jazzman - 1/22/2012, 11:20 AM
sorry but Spider-Manhas not cameo in The Avengers. this was a major misquotes or she does not know what shes talking about.
JDUKE25 - 1/22/2012, 12:15 PM
I would absolutely LOVE to see Spidey be featured..but...it won't happen... *sad face
Supes17 - 1/22/2012, 12:15 PM

Supes17 - 1/22/2012, 12:17 PM
I heard that Batman has an after credit scene though:P
SpideyMark - 1/22/2012, 12:26 PM
If I could I'ld love to be Spiderman on The Avengers.Spiderman+Tony Stark=Constant wisecracking jokes in all the movie!
Curmudgeon - 1/22/2012, 12:37 PM
I have to agree with whoever said that she just name checked any hero she could think of.

Otherwise... I can't think of a costume, character, OR actor involved with this film that she could possibly mistake for Spider-Man.

But it would be fun, even if not a costumed Spider-Man, to just have Andrew Garfield show up to snap some pictures in the middle of the big battle.
Radsavage1 - 1/22/2012, 12:57 PM
The Amazing Spiderman is being made by marvel studios.
ironknight - 1/22/2012, 1:01 PM
Is it impossible for them to make some sort of deal for the actual film rights to stay with Sony, but still allow for the movie to happen in the MCU?
blvdnoise - 1/22/2012, 1:14 PM
Though I don't foresee this happening.. It would be [frick]ING EPIC if it ever did! I mean, Agent Culson will be in the next spidey cartoon so..
blvdnoise - 1/22/2012, 1:17 PM
3mil for a 10sec cameo.. lol Thems' Superbowl prices!
MatchesMalone1989 - 1/22/2012, 1:27 PM
Gives Us Spiderman in the Avengers. I want to see it now!!!!!!!That may be the only way this film can stand up to Nolan.
CraptainAmerica - 1/22/2012, 1:31 PM
I doubt it very much
incrediblesuperbatspider - 1/22/2012, 1:45 PM
This is the dumbest article I have read...this isn't news or even a scoop..you are looking into a quote from a terrible source too much
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 1/22/2012, 1:51 PM
No, the woman probably doesn't know the difference between DC and Marvel, much less that The Avengers has Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain AMerica, etc. She just said it, she doesn't know whats going on. Besides Mr. Whedon has already said that there will be NO cameos.
CaptainAmerica - 1/22/2012, 4:39 PM
@Thorverine, dont worry bout it, seems like it's Dromeo's time of the month.
Praetorian - 1/22/2012, 5:00 PM
I don't think this is for real but if it is...... [frick] THE [frick]ING [frick]! YES!
Viltrumite - 1/22/2012, 5:14 PM
If this is true, I may cry from joy.
Although I highly doubt it.
Lilvic92 - 1/22/2012, 6:37 PM
@Supes seriously? That might lead to a JLA movie, I would cum on myself if that were true.

But anyways back on subject, it wouldn't fit. The Avengers have a huge battle in NYC, so where would TASM storyline fit in with this ?
Purple - 1/22/2012, 8:30 PM
Actually, if you read the article she is not directly quoted as saying that Spiderman is in the film. The most likely explanation is that the Journalist who wrote the story threw in two Marvel comics characters (in all likelihood, the only 2 she knows), as a little joke to round out the article. It’s an English magazine, so it’s likely they were, as the English say “Taking the Piss” a bit. No need to take it literally, folks. Funsies is all it is
Loki666 - 1/23/2012, 3:02 AM
What if she did spoil something and she meant Ant-Man? Just doesn't know her superoheroes,or Ant-Man, thought back, "oh yeah it was Iron Man and bug-man...no Spider-man! that was it"
joeker - 1/23/2012, 1:46 PM
bullshit!!
dantheman432 - 1/23/2012, 3:00 PM
hey, iron man showed up in The incredible hulk (which was distributed by universal) so who's to say sony isn't doing the same thing?
Radsavage1 - 1/23/2012, 6:26 PM
I thought The Amazing Spiderman is a Marvel Studios film.
leprakhauns - 1/24/2012, 11:43 AM
With Clark Gregg appearing as Coulson in the cartoon, this might make sense. Incredible Hulk was distributed by Universal Studios and Stark showed up in that.
Paramount and Disney are both being seen as distributing the Avengers.

You never know with Marvel, it is quite possible, maybe it won't be Webb's one, but a generic Spiderman, who knows?
HulkbusterNYC - 1/24/2012, 4:25 PM
Spider Man
HulkbusterNYC - 1/24/2012, 4:28 PM
Spider Man WILL have a small cameo in the Avengers! Kevin Fiege confirms it in interview with Empire mag!! http://bestmoviesevernews.com/avengers-movie-shows-off-more-images-plus-insider-details-2928/
Checkmate - 1/24/2012, 11:19 PM
Probably bullshit. If it's true though, that would be [frick]ing awesome, I want Spider-Man in the MCU soooo bad!
StockersBlahBlah - 1/25/2012, 12:36 PM
I dont want to get my hopes up, although it would be awesome if Spider-Man received a mention in Avengers.
They were probably just filming near the same lot, therefore a suited-up Andrew Garfield could have been walking around?
ElBicho - 1/25/2012, 2:45 PM
