always good to hear it being said just to make sure
Gmoney84 - 10/10/2010, 5:14 PM
This is my favorite part of the "pre movie shooting". You can always tell because somebody will ask, "oh, can you tell us about Superman?" and the director/actor will smile like a jackass and say, "yeah, really excited about that. Should be loads of fun." and you can tell they don't have much planned yet. Good time.
AngelAragiel - 10/10/2010, 5:29 PM
Still not totally convinced with Snyder as The Man of Steel director, I teally would have rather Duncan Jones or even better James Mctiegue. But I trust in Nolan judge.
YourMomNaked - 10/10/2010, 5:29 PM
Someone should have slapped that bitch and let him answer the [frick]ing question!
jazzman - 10/10/2010, 5:38 PM
we all know this movie aint connected to the previous films cause it has been pointed out its a reboot. this interviewer should know this and Brandon Routh most likely aint coming back anyway.
ALmighty1080 - 10/10/2010, 5:40 PM
james mctiegue? really? have you seen ninja assassin, i thought that was terrible
GUNSMITH - 10/10/2010, 5:45 PM
I FEEL A WHO SHOULD BE SUPERMAN DEBATE COMING
akthunder - 10/10/2010, 5:47 PM
I am so glad Snyder is directing this. Apparently the interviewer didnt know the term reboot too well.
marvel72 - 10/10/2010, 5:48 PM
if zack snyder follows these simple steps,we're onto a winner

1.the origin must be told in either the opening credits or the first 30 minutes.

2.we need a foe superman can punch i.e zod, brainiac, bizzaro, mongul, doomsday or darkseid.

3.keep it faithful to the comic universe & well away from smallville universe

4.casting superman it should one of these actors brandon routh, jim caviezel or henry cavill.keep tom welling well away.

jazzman - 10/10/2010, 5:51 PM
@Superguy1591

they dont mean Jim Caviezel the guy who asked Zack Snyder could Jim for the next Superman. his talking about Jim Sturgess his the star in Zack Snyder new film "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" thats why he said Jim.

the lady thats next to Zack Snyder is his wife Deborah Snyder. Deborah Snyder is as film producer she produce all of Zack Snyder films.

@deadpool72

lets add on your list

5. no over the top slow-mo

6. introduce Cat Grant, Ron Troupe, Steve Lombard working at The Daily Planet

6. dont make Lex Luthor the main villain keep him a supporting character.

7. have Krypton different then Donner version of Krypton

8. less or no Kryptonite for now
JoshWilding - 10/10/2010, 5:51 PM
Great find ED! I'm beyond relieved to know that this will have nothing to do with the past movies...his facial expression when asked about Brandon Routh is also very interesting! :P
Creature - 10/10/2010, 5:58 PM
Just...give me a damn Superman movie.
TheDesertGorilla - 10/10/2010, 6:08 PM
@Superguy1591- That's his wife, and Brandon Routh isn't bad, certainly not compared to a lot of the suggestions I've seen.
JDUKE25 - 10/10/2010, 6:19 PM
well...i can honestly say i am glad the new movie won't be connected to the others
ClarkKentSuperman - 10/10/2010, 6:30 PM
2 things......I am going to pretend that I didnt see Jim Caviezal for Superman in the comments above and someone else excited about I honestly hope I was missing the sarcasim...lol......and 2 With CGI and movie making the way it is today it will not be very hard to make a "GOOD" Superman movie. The entire planet more or less has an idea of who Superman is and how he came to be! You can retouch up on that in a total of 10 to 15 mins of the start of the film. All everyone and anyone needs to see is a villain someone other then Luther he can be in it but not the Main villain. We need someone that can hit and hurt Superman not just the same old Kryptonite shit we always see. Give the us ACTION. Superman toe to toe with someone and have Lex being the brains behind the whole thing. I am willing to bet any amount of money that a new villian and an EPIC BATTLE would put new life into the franchise and set better BOX OFFICE NUMBERS THEN IRON MAN or DARK KNIGHT FOR THAT MATTER!!!................. Yeah u read that right, I said it......MAKE MORE MONEY THEN DARK KNIGHT.......umm just in case you guys didnt figure it out yet people went to the box office to see JOKER not BATMAN!!! THE VILLAIN MAKES THE MOVIE.......give me BIZZARRO and the world will be a better place
jazzman - 10/10/2010, 6:30 PM
@Ajax

reporter means Jim Sturgess his one of the actors whos in Zack Snyder new film
jazzman - 10/10/2010, 6:34 PM
@Ajax

cool but i doubt Zack Snyder going to cast him the reporter only just said his name cause his in Zack Snyder movie.

@Superguy1591

u could of just give a link
ClarkKentSuperman - 10/10/2010, 6:35 PM
ps please leave Routh as Superman give him whatever Barry Bonds was taking and we will all agreee that he is superman......then we will just need to pretend that Superman Returns never happened! Well we dont need to forget the whole movie just most of it especially the part where he has a son......u know the best part of the movie.....LOL....Seriously WE NEED A GOOD SUPERMAN MOVIE....Especially those of us who love him and see all these other super heroes hetting good movies and not the greatest hero of all!!! BRING ON BIZZARRO..........[frick] ZOD we need NEW EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! except Routh
BruceWayneNewton - 10/10/2010, 7:00 PM
ROUTH OR BUST!! Let him get in on this and fight either Braniac or Darkseid. I am always excited for anything Superman.
BruceWayneNewton - 10/10/2010, 7:08 PM
He was the best Superman we have had yet. He looks and fits the part. His Clark Kent isn't as foolish acting as most have been. You don't need to be an oscar winning actor to play a superhero. He is the perfect choice though. Go watch Superman Returns and point out a scene in which he doesn't make you believe he is Superman.
LP4 - 10/10/2010, 7:09 PM
No routh....no singer...no donner-connection= SOON TO BE THE MOST EPIC SUPERMAN FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P862010 - 10/10/2010, 7:18 PM
the thing is Routh looks just like superman more than anybody and looks more mature now

BruceWayneNewton - 10/10/2010, 7:30 PM
Obv Reeves was a great Superman but I hated his Clark Kent. Singer ruined Superman Returns, not Routh
gibbyblaylock - 10/10/2010, 7:37 PM
I thought he meant "JIM" from The Office. HA!
P862010 - 10/10/2010, 7:45 PM
he does'nt also he is too damn thin and he is like 40 lol

if you want jim who 43

just get jon hamm who looks more like superman and is a better actor and is younger
NarutoParker - 10/10/2010, 8:11 PM
all these suggestions seem too damn old, now I'll be honest I'm not a big supporter of Supes, so I don't know how old he was when he went to Metropolis and became Superman, but shouldn't he be younger then these old fogeys (Brandon Routh, Jim Caviezel?? And Jim Sturgess?? WTH what's with all these British guys stealin American Super hero roles...no I don't like Sturgess for this either...
Ranger14 - 10/10/2010, 8:35 PM
The Routh debate is pretty moot now. He isn't going to be in the reboot. I will guarantee that. If they are going with the Birthright story, which still remains to be confirmed, then we are looking at a mid to upper twenties max actor.
P862010 - 10/10/2010, 8:39 PM
Jon Hamm would of been great if they were doing Alex ross superman
rodsvilaca - 10/10/2010, 8:52 PM
NO UNDERWEAR, please!
superotherside - 10/10/2010, 8:57 PM
whew! this movie has some hope now that it's not to be connected to anything in any way! now just 2 convince dc to put the right superman in the movie:

henry cavill!

Superman,2012,Movie,Man of Steel,Henry Cavill
TheDesertGorilla - 10/10/2010, 9:21 PM
geez, this superguy seems kinda loony. Wonder if he's feeling alright :/
SHAZAM171 - 10/10/2010, 9:29 PM
Otherside - HELLZMUTHAFREAKINNOOOOO!!! No Henry Cavill. LOL
BigChief16 - 10/10/2010, 9:37 PM
Jon Hamm is definitely my first choice for Superman, but only for a movie where he has already established his career as The Man of Steel. If they are planning to do a movie about him just starting his career as Superman, then I really don't know who I'm pulling for. None of the younger guys have convinced me so far.
JasonBlue - 10/10/2010, 10:08 PM
Brandon Routh OUT! wooot woooot!
EditNinja - 10/10/2010, 10:31 PM
Yeah, he's not gonna use Routh.
That's clear in their body language(albeit trying to shield his face from the sun).

Whatever, I like the Snyder-Man
Phinehas - 10/10/2010, 10:55 PM
If they go with a zygote noob like NarutoParker is suggesting, I may begina shooting spree. Reeve was 25 when he made the first Superman. After the schooling in the Fortress of Solitude in the original film, 12 years had passed. That would have brought the character (not the actor) to 30 years old. That seems logical. I like that approach. Not that I am suggesting that they follow the Mario Puzo script. Just that the Birthright idea is cool to me. I like it. The age suggests experience and wisdom that a youth just doesn't have.
Ranger14 is correct, though. The Routhbooters have lost. Its over. He ain't coming anywhere near the franchise. So long! Farewell. Deal with it!!!
prototype87 - 10/11/2010, 12:22 AM
LP4 - 10/11/2010, 12:24 AM
Routbootists don't honestly have a leg to stand on anymore, Routh isn't going to be in the freaken movie!!

@BruceWayneNewton- WTF?? Routh was BETTER than Chris Reeve??!! First off- Reeve was the greatest live action Superman up to this point (until we see how the NEW Superman does in 2012) while Routh simply mimicked Reeve, brought nothing new to the character and was the star of the failed film...I would say Routh was one of the WORST Superman actors ever. He ranks below Dean Cain for me. Chris Reeve was the best though. And seriously how could you say Routh was BETTER than Reeve when all he did was MIMICK Reeve???!

FACE THE FACTS Routhbooters...NO MORE ROUTH!

oh and I agree with "Yourmomnaked" the dumb lady should have let Snyder tell us his plans for the NEW Superman actor!
UltimaRex - 10/11/2010, 1:20 AM
Armie Hammer FTW!
UltimaRex - 10/11/2010, 1:20 AM
Armie Hammer FTW!
Ibz - 10/11/2010, 2:34 AM

LEEE777 - 10/11/2010, 2:46 AM

LEEE777 - 10/11/2010, 2:53 AM

CLASSIC!
JustinMSalvato - 10/11/2010, 3:00 AM
WAY TOO EARLY???? Get to work MOFO!
marvel72 - 10/11/2010, 3:13 AM
@ leee777

see how quick you could tell the charactors origin, you've seen a basic version of the film in 5 minutes.

also i must say the helicopter scene is a classic superman moment.

this is the best scene from superman returns,i want to see more scenes like this.

jazzman - 10/11/2010, 4:41 AM
@NarutoParker -"WTH what's with all these British guys stealin American Super hero roles"

its not like American actors never played British characters, Japanese character, etc jeez.

AlexDeLarge87 - 10/11/2010, 5:52 AM
I just finished reading Superman: Birthright and i gotta say i could totally see Armie Hammer as Superman! I understand why he is in the Nolan´s list! Just change his hair style, die them black, give him classes and let him gain some muscle and i think he could play Superman easily!:) Thou Henry Cavill and Daniel Cudmore should get the chance too! Jon Hamm and James Caviezel would be both great Superman, but it is confirmed that Supes is younger in this movie. So i go with those first three guys.

Paul Bettany as Lex Luthor
Olivia Wilde as Lois Lane
Michael Fassbender as Brainiac (Cameo, if Zod is the main villain)
Rufus Sewell as Gen. Zod (Cameo, if Brainiac is the main villain)
Tom Hardy as John Corben (as human)
Jeff Bridges as Jonathan Kent
Patricia Clarkson as Martha Kent
Jon Hamm as Jor-El
Carla Gugino as Lara Vor-Van
Mads Mikkelsen as Bruno Mannheim
Kevin Durand as Jax-Ur (Dangerous criminal who teams up with Zod when they escape from the Phantom Zone)
Gina Carano as Faora (Zod´s Henchman)
Matthew Willig as Quex-Ul (Zod´s Henchman)
And
Richard Jenkins as Perry White
SeaSerpentine - 10/11/2010, 7:30 AM
@LEEE777 Sweet Doomsday pic!
YourMomNaked - 10/11/2010, 8:13 AM
LMFAO...it's Jim STURGESS he's talking about, people. NOT Caviezel. He was talking about the cast from Guardian's. Ugh. If you google the guy, you'll see he doesn't really have a legit shot at the Superman part, it was a joke, hence the interviewers laughter.
ComradeGrey - 10/11/2010, 11:00 AM
I don't have much faith in Zack Snyder as anything more than a jock-movie director. He's not unimaginative, but he is not by any means a "visionary" (that word seems to have come into overuse at the same time as "make it darker"). It's nice that the Superman film will be visually engaging, but that's not a difficult task and it's not one the Snyder alone is authoritatively capable of handling. What is difficult is making Superman interesting without betraying the character. Nothing in Snyder's track record indicates that he is capable of this. On the other hand, he seems to be taking this movie with appropriate weight (although the same could have been said for his approach to Watchmen and we al saw what a shitshow that was).

Until I see more, this movie is a 60/40 in favor of falling short of the mark and at best being a forgettable guilty pleasure and a failure of the Superman character.

I'm honestly just glad the Superman is getting a fresh start. Zack Snyder is at least marginally better than Bret Ratner or Marc Steven Johnson.
