The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film's scheduled to swing into theatres July 3, 2012.

Very encouraging! However, we should remember that most early reactions are always going to be good. But still, very encouraging!
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:32 PM
What are the haters going to say now?
"Oh, they were totally paid off by Sony!"

OR

"Uh...well...um...I always thought it could be good...I just didn't want to..uh...jinx anything.."

OR

"OVERRATED!!"

I'm pumped! What little anxiety I had is starting to disappear. I wonder if that means that that rumor about the Sony execs not liking it was BS.
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:33 PM
@ Prot3ctor
I HIGHLY doubt it'll break the billion mark.
For some reason I suspect this to do only slightly better than X-Men: First Class or Thor.
Because a lot of people still are against it.
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 9:35 PM
@CrimsonArk There was also a rumor that a studio exec said Avengers wasn't "cinematic" enough. Look at how true that turned out lol. I wouldn't worry about rumors like that.

CloserPleasures - 6/8/2012, 9:35 PM
cant [frick]ing wait baby
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 9:36 PM
@blueberryicedcoffee Wait, are you the same blueberry from IMDB?
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:38 PM
@ blueberryicedcoffee
See, proof that no matter how successful and acclaimed this movie will be, there will still be people who blindly crap talk it. You know why the reason for that is? Maybe she doesn't have many followers. Which this was a few hours ago, so these probably aren't updated.
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 9:38 PM
Honestly, if that Sony exec rumor was true, I would actually think of that as a good sign. I mean, they loved Spidey 3, so them hating this one would seem like a good sign to me lol.
GizmoEl - 6/8/2012, 9:40 PM
AWESOME! So stoked for this movie
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:40 PM
@ TheAmazingHipsterMan
Did any critics attend that screening? Because if not we'll have reviews by June 29th for sure.
And like CBM said, there will be more and more reviews pouring in. And if they all have the same things to say, then that must account for something. Because of it was really mediocre then there should be some people speaking out against it.
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 9:47 PM
@blueberryicedcoffee Why yes, I am. By the way, you didn't almost vote me off. You're the only one who voted for that. Everyone else voted against it because, quite frankly, it was stupid and I'm a respectable user. But whatever, people like you never learn.
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:49 PM
@ TheAmazingHipsterMan
Would there be any critics that could pop on RottenTomatoes?
Like from one of the smaller movie review cites? Not a top critic or anything.
Also, do you know if it was shown in 3D?
santoanderson - 6/8/2012, 9:54 PM
I'm still not drinking the kool aid. I remember all the amazing pre-screening Tron Legacy twitter reviews I read, and that movie ended up being pretty forgettable.
I will see this movie while firmly on the fence.
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:54 PM
@ TH3TRUTH007
Can you people please shut up about TDKR?
I'm so sick of it being mentioned in EVERY SINGLE movie comment section.
This is about TASM, not TDKR. Stop constant toy comparing them, it becomes annoying months ago.
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 9:56 PM
God, I hate typing on an andriod:( the keys are so freaking sensitive,
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 9:57 PM
@blueberryicedcoffee Do you even have to ask? People like you who troll on a movie's board for months saying how much another movie will beat it and bashing other users who don't agree with your opinions. But whatever. Why am I even wasting my time? I'm here to talk about Spidey, not debate with you.
TH3TRUTH007 - 6/8/2012, 10:00 PM
@CrimsonArk dude its not even real im just talkin about the financial aspect of it but if I hurt your feeling you can go watch twilight and get your emotions in check
JohnTom88 - 6/8/2012, 10:01 PM
TDKR is so dead
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 10:02 PM
Guys, this article is about TASM, not TDKR. Let's keep it that way, lest we start any more flame wars.
TheTaskmaster - 6/8/2012, 10:03 PM
If it really is that good and by some divine intervention Marvel gets the rights back, they should just incorporate this movie and its sequel into the MCU.
Danbojohnj - 6/8/2012, 10:03 PM
I hated what Rami did with Spidey and Toby just got on my tits, tottaly miscast...have high hopes for this
jakerbaker - 6/8/2012, 10:05 PM
Andrew is perfect for this role. He is humble and recognizes the symbolic reverance of this character tobey never did.
DragonofDarknessXIII - 6/8/2012, 10:05 PM
DAMN IT, I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! *Throws $7 at screen* WHY NOTHING'S HAPPENING!!

In all serious, I think I'll like this more then The Avengers
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 10:06 PM
I liked Spidey 1 and 2, didn't like the 3rd. Here's hoping this gets the series back on track.
CrimsonArk - 6/8/2012, 10:07 PM
@ TH3TRUTH007
No, I'm tired of people constantly bringing up TDKR in every one of these articles and talking about how it's going to beat it. Yeah, it probably will, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be the better movie. No one knows. I want this movie to be good, do I think it will be? I don't know until I actually see the entire thing. So I'm not going to say TASM is better than TDKR considering I haven't seen either. It just frustrates me to see people say TDKR will be better no matter, more so than the other way around, because TDK fanboys typically sound like elitist douches who think they have a superior taste in movies than everyone else, and constantly go out of their way to bash any movie that could potentially threaten it.
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 10:07 PM
Actually, if they're having a press screening this early, this most likely means they have a lot of confidence in this! Another good sign!
rockerdude22 - 6/8/2012, 10:11 PM
If what these reactions say is true, this may very well be another one of those "I told you so" movies. Kinda like First Class last year.
SageMode - 6/8/2012, 10:12 PM
I have definite high hopes for this. It looks promising and better than Raimis super-flawed Spider-Man series. Can't wait to see more reactions/reviews for it
prettynuclear2 - 6/8/2012, 10:17 PM
This movie always had a good pedigree. Writer of Zodiac, director of 500 Days of Summer. Most people don't know anything about those films.
PreparationH - 6/8/2012, 10:22 PM
I fkn knew it

Everyone need to take a step back with bashing TASM and TDKR because this will probably be the best year for CBM ever.
jakerbaker - 6/8/2012, 10:27 PM
Spider-man will trump all!!!!! Lets hope they change the suit for the sequel. The eyes need to be white!!
JohnTom88 - 6/8/2012, 10:42 PM
Spider-Man = Avengers = Marvel

nerdman81 - 6/8/2012, 10:43 PM
Prot3ctor@ Sorry to break it to you, but TDKR isn't gonna do that kind of business lol It certainly won't be breaking a ton of records. It'll be lucky to even get CLOSE to the number 5-6 slot on all-time, and that's being optimistic. having said that, when Spidey 1 first came out, it was literally one of THE most anticipated movies EVER! It broke records for the time, but still isn't on the all-time list anymore! ASM (as great as I think it looks) won't be a game changer either. I see it being more confusing to the general public than anything, AND they've seen it already before not too long ago.
MadTitan - 6/8/2012, 10:47 PM
still not buying this un-necessary reboot. sorry to break it to you though i'm a huge Spidey fan i am totally avoiding this film and i'm not the only one who'se thinking of the same thing. lol
Optimus83 - 6/8/2012, 10:49 PM
¡¡¡AMAZING AWESOME SPIDER-MAN!!!
hope420 - 6/8/2012, 10:54 PM
Although I'm not a fan of a reboot so soon but I'm slowly getting excited for this.
iJackSparrow - 6/8/2012, 11:20 PM
At this point, you can all unleash the inner fanboy and just go wild. I've been following Kristin for some time and I trust that girl's statement because she knows her stuff when it comes to comic book movies, if she's saying that's better than the first trilogy and equal to The Avengers... I'm believing it. I've seen the excitement of that kid over The Avengers, and it came from a genuine place. The anticipation levels sky rocketed for me, and I'm not afraid to fall.

I'm ready to be amazed.
SageMode - 6/8/2012, 11:20 PM
The Spider-Man movies NEEDED a reboot.
thalidomide - 6/8/2012, 11:27 PM
I guess it's time to change my schedule. I'm going to check this out.
CharlesTheIncredible - 6/8/2012, 11:35 PM
yea i still dont know if im gonna see it. that suit and the whole genetically altered origin are bugging me still
zware - 6/8/2012, 11:46 PM
These reactions mean nothing, regardless if they were negative or positive. Still good to hear thats its positive and it does get your hopes up lets hope it delivers. Also people why are we arguing over nonsensical stuff? I mean I liked the Avengers a lot, looking forward to TASM a lot, and while I'm looking forward to the TDKR the most and think it'll be the best, what is the point of wanting the other comic book installments to fail??? That makes no sense I want them all to be awesome and be great films, why are we making up these stupid nonsensical rivalries?
iJackSparrow - 6/8/2012, 11:46 PM
"Genetically altered origin"? If you are talking about that idiotic rumor of this being similar to Ang Lee's Hulk origin you're out of your mind. It's not happening. It is an accident and Richard Parker NEVER experienced any kind of formula on Peter. If you want to understand, all I can tell you that you should REALLY watch the virals and READ the docs left there. Curt Connors is capable of experiencing on human beings at any cost, not Richard. Both are obsessed men, but there's a line that Richard is not willing to cross. He'd never do that with his own kid.
jumpingJellybeans - 6/8/2012, 11:48 PM
@MadTitan There's a damn good reason you chose that name. You're bloody unhinged insane if you don't want to see it simply out of spite. Just read the first review, and it said it was fantastic.
jumpingJellybeans - 6/8/2012, 11:48 PM
It lived up to the name. Amazing.
iJackSparrow - 6/8/2012, 11:58 PM
The TDKR fanbase loves to play the Debbie Downers, most of the fanbase is composed by ignorants that bad mouthed The Avengers to no end and tried the very same thing with The Amazing Spider-Man and now you are asking why people want TDKR to fail, zware? Now that people are going apeshit for actually seeing the movie and claiming that's awesome? And you still want to downplay it and say that don't mean nothing?

Please, look at you. Your fanbase brought that to yourselves, for your hive behavior of attacking other comic book films like mindless drones. That's YOUR karma, and by karma I mean what a very vocal part of the TDKR fanbase did now falling on their heads. Spider-Man and Batman are my favorite comic book characters of all time, I'll be at the opening midnight of both films, but I'm clearly WAY more excited about The Amazing Spider-Man. What I never understood about your fanbase is... why do you care so deeply at what people are excited to see? I can't give a [frick] what you want to see more, neither I should come here and say how much I want to see this more than anything else. My excitement is genuine. Yours reeks of desperation and competition. This isn't a horse race, mate. I'm rooting for ALL comic book movies, but The Amazing Spider-Man is just at another level.
R888 - 6/8/2012, 11:59 PM
Yeah great to hear, the avengers 2 will have spiderman :)
PreparationH - 6/9/2012, 12:02 AM
@iJackSparrow

ISeeStupidPeople - 6/9/2012, 12:07 AM
I don't trust these random Twitter comments. Didn't they try to sell us this BS with Green Lantern? Only reason I got giddy as a schoolgirl for Avengers was because I noticed Seth Green tweeting about how awesome it was.
Ranger14 - 6/9/2012, 12:17 AM
Well, it's encouraging, but I don't know anything about these four tweeters. I would probably be more encouraged, believe it or not, if it were some critics praising it in that way.
iJackSparrow - 6/9/2012, 12:19 AM
@ISeeStupidPeople

Bullshit. I've been following Kristin for sometime and I know that she's genuine. She nerdgasmed like crazy over The Avengers, it happened once again with The Amazing Spider-Man. Girl is as much of a genuine fangirl as I am, she knows her comic books AND movies. If I was already excited for this, now this got The Avengers levels of excitement.

It'll be fun to see a certain group of people keep trying to downplay desperately. Then after ask themselves why the hell people hate them so much. Your kind and PreparationH are the Twilight fangirls of comic book movies. Pretty vocal, obsessed, but when it comes to real results... do I need to remind anyone about The Avengers?
