Update on 30 days of Night: Dark Days

It seems the director Ben Ketai has a few tricks up his sleeve for the sequel with the help from the original creator of the graphic novel, Steve Niles.
With the sequel's synopsis already known to surround the path of Stella Oleson as she searches for the vampires who not only destroyed her home but also murdered her husband, there's an additional aspect of the film that many fans will enjoy to hear.

During an interview with "Shock Til You Drop," Steve Niles (creator of the graphic novel), went into more details on what viewers can expect with the sequel. It seems he wants the vampires to be more on par with his vision in the comics.

Niles had this to say about the sequel, "I have them doing what I originally wanted which is speaking all languages. The first movie established the vampires' fear of exposure, that the fact that nobody believes in them is their greatest strength. So now, we just had to accelerate that. In the new movie, we had to start with what happened in New Orleans. We just moved that storyline from the original book to the beginning of this new one. There's some evidence of what happened in Barrow and Stella Oleson is out there trying to spread the word just like in the 'Dark Days' comics."

As usual when it comes to comic book adapted movies, not all aspects of the original source are represented in the theatrical release.

"I'd say there's about as many changes as there were from the first graphic novel to the first movie, but not as drastic. I have a scene where there's a plane and with everybody dead on a tarmac from the vampire attack and Guillermo Del Toro just did it in 'The Strain' [novel], which is going to wind up on the screen and I thought, 'Okay, skip that.' We're going to be accused of stealing it from them or vice-versa," explains Niles.

Hopefully this sequel turns out to be more successful at the box office.

I never read the original graphic novel so i had a perception of what the film should be about. It turned out to be something else and that's perhaps why I wasn't as into the film as everyone else, but of course I'll be checking out the sequel
