Dan Aykroyd Now Uncertain About "Ghostbusters 3"

Recently Bill Murray mentioned his uncertainty about the franchise, but it seems Dan Aykroyd is now in the same position.
During a recent signing appearance for his father's book, ""A History of Ghosts," Dan Aykroyd released a statement about the rumors of "Ghostbusters 3" pushing towards production.

"Obviously its all talk until I have the following: B117B3X9, that's a production number. When I see the production number, then I'll know I'm in the picture business again. But I don't have the production number tonight," he said.

Everyone wants the film to move forward of course but the process seems to be stuck in a slow pace towards production.

"We a have a script, but no production number and until we have the green light, we can't stick the pipe up into the mega-corporation and draw the honey."

Whispers68: I'm beginning to wonder if this project will ever receives its wings so that it could fly. They green-lit the worst sequels in Hollywood but it seems the ones worthy of continuation have the most trouble.

In the last article Bill Murray says "Theres no script". Yet Akroyd says there is and the films waiting to be greenlit. What the hells going on here?

it's simple, this movie is not getting made. and if it is, it will suck, and everybody knows it. Same thing with Jurassic park 4. That movie was in production for so long, and it never got made, because everybody knew it was time to move on
supermarioworldE - 10/16/2009, 8:51 PM
From the looks of things, there doesn't exist must synergy with anyone involved in the film...or better yet, those releasing information during interviews because from what it appears, the film won't be made.
if it does, I would be surprised if it happens in the next three years.
Whispers68 - 10/16/2009, 8:57 PM
look do we really need to revisit this franchise? when was the last time you watched this thing? the stuff is pretty dated now and the whole things begs the question to be asked again....isnt their any fresh ideas in hollywood? GHOSTBUSTERS 2 was a big heaping stack of dog poo. Murry knows it. if you really want to revisit the age of crap again dont worry THE EXPENDABLES is on its way.
gaikinger - 10/16/2009, 9:21 PM
@supermario That movie actually had a great script. Steven Spielberg said he wished it was made sooner so that he could've used it for Jurassic Park 3. The reason 4 wasn't made is because the writer of Jurassic Park died. And Steven Spielberg didn't think it was right to make a new movie without him. Not because they felt it was time to move on.
SupahPhreak - 10/16/2009, 10:03 PM
@ longbowhunter- Bill Murray's not involved with the script as much as the writers, Reitman, Aykroyd and Ramis so it appears he's out of the loop on this one.

@supermarioworldE- Jurassic Park 4 didn't happen mainly because of the lack of any good script, and the death of Micheal Crichton.

THIS AND THE MURRAY VIDEO AREN'T RELEASING ANY REAL "NEWS" JUST REITERATING WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW. There IS a script. IT JUST NEEDS THE APPROVAL OF SONY WHICH IS MORE THAN LIKELY TO HAPPEN. christsauce.
1Rocketeer - 10/16/2009, 10:11 PM
Just saying that before people freak out that there won't ever be a Ghostbusters 3. At this point it's very likely, but as Dan says, not guaranteed.
1Rocketeer - 10/16/2009, 10:14 PM
It's true that Crichton's death, was the final brake, but i honestly don't believe it would have ever gotten made, regardless.

and no to a ghostbusters 3. This first 2 were 80's classics. Leave them that way
supermarioworldE - 10/16/2009, 10:21 PM
what about mannaquin 3?
gaikinger - 10/16/2009, 10:24 PM
Yes! Mannequin 3 The Last Pose!

Nah, He kinda sounded like he's tired of being asked.

supermarioworldE- Critchton died? How long ago was this?
Betty - 10/16/2009, 10:29 PM
Oh boy...this only means that nobody really knew they were planning on making another one. lol
Fartman - 10/16/2009, 10:35 PM
@Betty

Michael Crichton died on November 4th...last year

I'm not really interested in a sequel because I vaguely remember parts 1 and 2, but I figured others on the site would care about any news...whether it be small or a major exclusive.
Whispers68 - 10/16/2009, 11:35 PM
DAMMIT do the script and(by the way that girl was hot) do the script and have our old Buster train new ones like the Judd Apatow regulars you know comedians
MrAnonymous - 10/16/2009, 11:39 PM
Mranonymous: If they make this film, and seth rogen and that fat cnut jonah hill are in it, this board will light up with so much negativity you will smell it through your router!

By the time it gets made the Ghosbusters will be trying to bust Murrey and Ackroyd :)

teabag - 10/17/2009, 4:43 AM
So Dan says there is a script Bill says there isn't. I wonder who wrote it.

teabag - 10/17/2009, 8:13 AM
YOU KNOW THEY MIGHT ANNIE UP MONEY IF IT WAS A TOTAL REBOOT, ..STARRING ROBERT DOWNEY JR IN MURRY'S SPOT, JEFF GOLDBLUM AS EGON, JACK BLACK IN AKROYDS SPOT, AND DAVE CHAPPELLE AS THE TOKEN GHOSTBUSTER..
GUNSMITH - 10/17/2009, 9:25 AM
That's too much LOL
georgia49th - 10/17/2009, 10:10 AM
Next we'll hear Jackie Earle Haley will be in this, like everything else. It seems like everytime they need a bad guy now a days, they get him. Fred Krueger, Sinestro, etc. He's a great actor, but come on!

Hollywood would already have greenlit it, if it had newer talent in the film. Akroyd, Murray, Ramis, etc. are not the now actors to go to in Hollywood. They want fresh new faces, not actors who were popular in the 80's.
Timerider84 - 10/17/2009, 1:57 PM
@ GUNSMITH...Lol. Nice casting choices. :)

I would like to see a third movie, but only if they are going to do the first movies justice.
RolandOfGilead - 10/17/2009, 3:39 PM
-THE TRUTH-PEOPLE WANT A NEW REBOOTED GHOST BUSTER TEAM, CUTTING EDGE CGI, TODAYS COMEDY...LOOK AT THE PAST GHOSTBUSTER FILMS TODAY, RENT EM, THROW THEM IN YOUR DVD..IT WAS FUNNY BACK THEN, TODAY..SOSO. RDJ IS TOTAL SARCASM FUNNY, JEFF GOLDBLUM CAN PLAY SUPERNERD SCIENTIST, JACK BLACK IS JUST FUNNY ALL AROUND, ALTHOUGH PAUL BLART MALLCOP DUDE COULD PULL IT OFF AS WELL..CHAPPELLE WOULD BE FUNNY, WISH BERNIE MACK WAS STILL AROUND. THEY HONESTLLY CAN DO SOMETHING REALLY COOL IF THEY WANTED TO
GUNSMITH - 10/17/2009, 4:29 PM
They should just go ahead and say this is not going to happen.
Bandrews1 - 10/17/2009, 5:34 PM
LMFAO @teabag- Oh, my God! That is so wrong... But I can't stop laughing... LOL :D *tear*
