You will notice below that Taye Diggs very much resembles Darwin in that concept design, of course that was made in early stages. Having said that, below you can also see concept art showcasing the big finale of the film on the beach, Blackbird and some other concepts.

Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jason Flemyng, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Jennifer Lawrence and January Jones, X-Men: First Class is in theatres now!

BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 6/15/2011, 9:20 PM
I [frick]ing love this movie, can't wait for news on the sequels and Darwin better get ressurected. Nice thong

Oh yeah and this my new favorite score
tjbpinkfloyd - 6/15/2011, 9:22 PM

luffycapri - 6/15/2011, 9:22 PM

ellispart3 - 6/15/2011, 9:24 PM
@MrAnonymous i knew they were gonna kill him off..i havent seen it, but i got a feeling from the trailers that i shouldnt get attached to the brothah.
xXkryptoniteXx - 6/15/2011, 9:24 PM
The movie was sick but why does the black man gotta die first? He was the 1st of the team mutants that died 1st. Wtf lol.
murl1956 - 6/15/2011, 9:26 PM
OK, I gotta ask: Why is the only Black person in the film killed off so early? Black folks get killed off in films almost like the red shirts in Star Trek these days ...
dellamorte1872 - 6/15/2011, 9:27 PM
eh the RED MAN was long before that sob....THUNDERBIRD anyone?
ellispart3 - 6/15/2011, 9:27 PM
then again its Darwin..he can come (and should based on his power)
yankeemanf - 6/15/2011, 9:30 PM
the reason he gets killed off is not cuz he is black its cuz every other character is a character that has been around for years and years which means that the fans r attached to these characters and darwin he is a relatively unknown newer character therefore he is more expendable than the other characters soo therefore he dies first and early
kingmonkeyman - 6/15/2011, 9:32 PM
I like the Destro Pic. And why does the Blackbird have green guts in the pic where it is split in two? Did it land on Toad? P.S. Darwin's not dead. Heroes never die
thesymbiote - 6/15/2011, 9:36 PM
really awesome movie. nice concept art. kinda bummed out too that darwin was "killed" off though. his powers call for some nice imaginative stuff which I would have liked to see.
cable23 - 6/15/2011, 9:43 PM
@MrAnonymous I completley agree with you that song kicks so much ass. My friends and I knew that when ever that song came up Magneto was about to whip some ass. Play the song almost everyday for some reason.
SugarYumYum - 6/15/2011, 9:46 PM
Of course, there would be casualties but why couldn't they have killed off that 'Angel' chick no one's heard of instead of Darwin? Saw it coming though... the unwritten plot point: "kill the black man first".
patriautism - 6/15/2011, 9:48 PM
You know Darwin probably could have survived what Sebastian did. He could of developed like adamantium guts or something.

Why does the black guy always die first?
HeavyHands - 6/15/2011, 9:58 PM
Very shneaky posting darwin in his metal form as the articale photo to get the colossus fanbase to view your artical...dick
MellowYellow23 - 6/15/2011, 10:32 PM
darwin did not die first.

1)Magneto's mother
2)Nazi soldiers in Schmidt/Shaw's office
3)40+ CIA agents including The Man in Black

actually, Darwin did NOT die. his last words before he yelled Alex's name was that his mutant power was to adapt to survive to Shaw. He showed no sign of strain and Raven even said that there was no body to bury.

He reached out to Alex and lit up. Did no one hear him when he said about THREE times that he adapts to survive?
kingmonkeyman - 6/15/2011, 10:48 PM
@mellowYellow23. I agree with you. That pacman pill he swallowed was really Havoks beam thing, something that Darwin could survive easily, inside or out. In the comics i believe he was thought dead but survived as pure energy until someone brought him back. If not then that was the lamest death in all of CBM's for a person of Darwin's abilities.
Jolt17 - 6/15/2011, 10:52 PM
No matter who be DARWIN, he's a damn waste!

Which is sad, seems like a likeable character, even if he didn't die , he got mo much screentime.

Better be back later!

Cool concepts btw, great find Wolv!

; )
dbatman - 6/15/2011, 11:10 PM
Why didn't they use that design on angel. Are they insane!? MY problem with Darwin dying iss it doesn't make sense. His power is practically surviving anything.
patriautism - 6/15/2011, 11:41 PM
@MellowYellow23 We are talking about the first mutant, or relevant character that died. Not the first people killed in the movie.
Cartoon - 6/16/2011, 1:04 AM
Darwin's death was done to show how dangerous Shaw really was. Really, Darwin was the one guy who should've been able to get back from anything, and yet Shaw finds a way to take him out. It sends the message that NO ONE is safe.

Anyhow, seeing as to the nature of his powers, I suspect that he'll be back in the sequel, after they play it up that leaving Darwin unprotected was one of Xavier's biggest mistakes. Then, have it revealed that he transformed into energy and was absorbed by Havok. That's about the same as what they did in the books. I hope that we see a lot of Xavier maturing into Professor X in the next movie, as fun as it was to see him being all swanky.

LEEE777 - 6/16/2011, 4:51 AM
Gotta admit, that cool art!

Cool find @ Wolvie!

dahamma - 6/16/2011, 6:01 AM
saw this movie, it was ok, absolutely better than all the other X Not that mind blowing as I've been hearing about. Fassbender's Magento made the film for me
xinstituto - 6/16/2011, 6:46 AM
Sage would fit better then Angel in this movie, to become part of the hellfire.. to show she spying the hellfire for Charles :D
RyanLantern77 - 6/16/2011, 6:49 AM
Taye Diggs Darwin?

Angel Salvadore is a dumb character, could have done without her
drfate - 6/16/2011, 7:13 AM
Fate - verified! X Men First Class sucked.

The visuals, effects, and filming were excellent - congratulations to the production crew! But the plot and acting SUCKED. Emma Frost was bland. Angel was bland. Banshee was one ugly ass, mush mouthed loser. Darwin - forgettable. Mystique was TOTALLY out of character; the real Mystique is a homicidal, black ops temptress, not some whiny teen-angst ug-mo (she was NOT cute).

Honorable mention: Magneto, Prof. X, Havok and Beast.
longbowhunter - 6/16/2011, 7:31 AM
Poor Darwin.
GUNSMITH - 6/16/2011, 7:34 AM
I CAN SEE TAYE DIGGS AS THE OLDER VERSION OF DARWIN..
GUNSMITH - 6/16/2011, 7:35 AM

TURN AROUND
MovieTheaterLad - 6/16/2011, 8:11 AM
@kryptonite

The movie was sick but why does the black man gotta die first?

It's America during the 1960's, and the villain is a former Nazi who was in charge of killing God only knows how many innocent Jews.

Who do YOU think he'd go for first?
MovieTheaterLad - 6/16/2011, 8:13 AM
@Dr. fate

"the real Mystique is a homicidal, black ops temptress"

No, the ADULT Mystique is a homicidal black ops temptress. That's what we got in the first three movies. How many times do the actors have to explain that the whole point of making them different now when they're younger is to have them develop and grow into the characters they eventually become? Do you just think people are born with one singular personality trait and then just never develop over time? Or are you just mad because she isn't standing around naked and posing while staring directly at yo-I mean, the camera.

Fr3dom - 6/16/2011, 9:03 AM
Still angry about the cliche killing of the black man (who is always happy to throw his life away to protect the higher ie white lives araound him, and spurs them on to win - while he just dies) used again in x men first class.. Don't dismiss this as being oversensitive, but this unfortunate (lazy)stereotype demeans the concept of equality and propagates inferior worth (by subterfuge) into the minds of the audience and into the minds of young people of colour.

Please don't say its just a movie! this discounts the power of advertising.

I am now 50 years old (from the UK)and have seen this replayed too often. I do not want my grandchildren to grow up seeing this type of thing continued in 2011 and beyond.

Please no more stereotypical behavior patterns or propaganda driven deaths.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 6/16/2011, 9:59 AM
It didn't really bother me that Darwin died because he's not an iconic X-Man like Scott,Logan,or countless others who have been introduced way before him.@MrAnonymous That score does kickass.
Ryguy88 - 6/16/2011, 12:33 PM
Maybe the Morlocks will be in the sequel and Darwin joins them....Then Mr. Sinister wipes them all out!
xinstituto - 6/16/2011, 1:24 PM
Dawin sholdnt have died.
Angel should be replaced by Sage.
Banshee and Magneto - Perfect.

For a possible sequel:
Emma takes her own side
Nightcrawler is born
Ororo and Mastermind come to Xavier's
blue18 - 6/16/2011, 1:52 PM
All of the art looks awesome, but the way it was done in the movie was just fine with me.
