The busiest director right now is probably Guillermo del Toro. Working on so many projects just shows how talented and passionate he is. Sadly, he never got around to making the two part Hobbit films and an R-rated adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, but he did get a chance to move forward with other projects. One of them is "the biggest" monster film ever, Pacific Rim starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Charlie Day. Talking to MTV's Josh Horowitz, director shared his thoughts on what can we expect:



The other project he has been working on for a while now, is of course del Toro's long-awaited adaptation of Frankenstein. It was previsouly reported that actor Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy films) would play the creature, and it would be based on Bernie Wrightson's art. You can watch what the director has to say about it in the video below, and he also shares a little bit of info on the upcoming sci-fi film Gravity, that will be directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men):





There you go...Personally, I really hope that after Pacific Rim, he will start working on Frankenstein. It could be amazing.

Creature from the Black Lagoon remake would kick so much ass!!! I'm surprised it has never been remade over the years like all the other universal monsters.

Frankenstein is such a long story. I always saw the only way of making a real good adaptation would be a ten-episode series. Pretty much what ended up happening to Game of Thrones.

Anyway, I seriously hope he downplays the moment the monster is brought to life. The most iconic and ridiculously exploited moment of the story- a moment that happens within a single sentence-and the process by which the Doctor won't even tell his audience- always gets stupid extravagant explanations in films. Don't do it, Del Toro! Keep to the mystery of the book.

Also, will the monster be fluent in French?

Haha "Chitulu willing", I love that. I was upset when he stopped production on Mountains, but Pacific Rim sounds much more epic.

i was SO hype when 'At The Mountains of Madness' was going to be made with Del Toro, everything was going good...till they dropped the project

I do hope that he gets a shot a making At the Mountains of Madness...I'm sure his interpretation of Lovecraft's work would be on the money. He's simply brilliant.

@destroyer14 i know it always seemed the best out of the older monster movies. although i haven't watched the full movie i need to find it.

@kookevin3 yeah its surprising they havent yet. they seem to focus on the mummy, frankenstein and the wolfman the most.

@SigmaCenturion- I am really surprised that they haven't made that movie yet (a remake of The Creature From the Black Lagoon). Pacific Rim will definitely kick ass. Just make a damn movie already Del Toro.

I'm loving this artwork! A new Frankenstein film has been long overdue. That last P.O.S made by Thor's Kenneth Branagh was pure sh!t! Del Toro seems to be the best man for the job, hopefully he can get it off the ground and get it out soon!

I'm not really a fan of Guillermo Del Toro. This is the first project of his (Pacific Rim that is) that i'm actually excited for.

I just don't really care for fantasy and monster tales (which he usually does). I'm much more interested in the sci-fi elements of Pacific Rim and the design of the MECH SUITS. I couldn't care less about the design of the monsters. I just wanna see some Mechs demolish them.

Something like this is well worth waiting for. I'd love to see a new version of Frankenstein, especially if the audience is made to feel empathy and sorrow for the creature. That was the genius of James Whale/Boris Karloff's version. It chimes psychologically with the alienation of most people's experience of life - particularly as a teenager - the idea of that none of us ask for existence - but we are all here - yet some of us plainly do not fit in, and some of us never fit in - and are persecuted as a result. Guillermo Del Toro is a great director. He makes films that I know will be talked about for generations. The definition of a classic. Not popcorn, meaningless crap that kids download for free, watch once, then delete once they fill up their hard drives.

Creature of the Black Lagoon is the aquaman of the movie monsters. Under water characters dont get much love. Could be because a lot of the dialogue would be "blurb blob blurble"

What ever Del Toro is going to do next... IM IN!

I really hope the next is Mountains of Madness or Frankenstein!:)
The Beauty And The Beast is another one i loved to see!

Werewolf By Night and The Tomb of Dracula movies would be perfect job for Del Toro too.

Del Toro has really become one of my favorite directors, and really looking forward to Pacific Rim and I wanna see what he does with Frankenstein.

@killedhal9000 i don't know why they haven't seems like its equally as adaptable than the other movies and if done right scarier and cooler than the rest.

@ichaos but yet shark movies get made by the buttloads. i dont think the creature actually talked in the film. done right aquaman could be made into a good movie.
