As for the films I'm also very much looking forward to, but they are not on this list for obvious reasons, I will just mention them below in no particular order:

- Argo (Directed by Ben Affleck and starring Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Kyle Chandler and John Goodman).

- Django Unchained (Directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz).

- Seven Psychopaths (Directed by Martin McDonagh and starring Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson and Olga Kurylenko).

- Only God Forgives (Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas).

- Lincoln (Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field, Jackie Earle Haley and Tommy Lee Jones).

- The Grey (Directed by Joe Carnahan and starring Liam Neeson)

- The Cabin in the Woods (Directed by Drew Goddard and starring Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly and Anna Hutchison)

- The Master (Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams).

- Gangster Squad (Directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn).

- Taken 2 (Directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace).

- Premium Rush (Directed by David Koepp and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon and Jamie Chung).

Bro, that's easily in excess of $100 worth of theater tickets there.

I'd have to weed out the 'meh's' and just go to the "Ain't no way I'm missing THIS on the big screen"-! films.

RossBentley: Watch Children of Men and then come back. And have you read the first novel in the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs? No? Then go read that too.

I'm totally not surprised of your #1 (you've stated it some times before anyway), I'd put that movie there as well (though in my case, the #1 will be The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, and John Carter altogether - no complains, I just suck in making orders).

My #2, #3, and #4 will be Skyfall, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Prometheus. Three different genres, three highly interesting movies. G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks exactly like what I've expected for a G.I. Joe movie, so it will be there on #5, and The Bourne Legacy on #6. Um, then okay, Men in Black III on #7 and Wrath of the Titans on #8.

Thank you for reminding me (and telling more) of that Looper movie, have always thought it could be interesting, but I need to see and hear more myself. And also for Gravity, this is my first time to hear about it, but I kind of like the feel of it. Some other movies I'd consider as 'minor' (e.g. Snow White and the Huntsman, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter), meaning I'll still go see them, but by now I'm not anticipating them as much.

Great list, Wolvie. :)

Any hope for a decent John Carter movie went out the window the second the Disney logo appeared at the beginning of the trailer.

TDKR for the win.

The film i can wait to see is The Dark Knight Rises. Hopefully it's like Return of the King rather than Godfather Part III

John Carter??? seriously???

The Hobbit should be closer to the top.

the top three should be avengers, tdkr, and the hobbit

followed by prometheus and spider-man

i also noticed that Underworld, Wrath of the Titans, and Ghost Rider are not on this list... THEY SHOULD BE!

first thing that needs to be addressed here is the heading to this article, please read it carefully...

"Now, if we look at the movies coming out in 2012, it is safe to say that it will be a BIG year. Below, I've listed my top 15 most anticipated films of this year, featuring mostly the ones we write about here on the site (comic book, fantasy, science fiction and some action films). Let's get started!"

Do you see it??

This is his most anticipated movies for 2012. Therefore it is absolutely impossible to "fail", he is sharing his thoughts with us. These are the movies he wants to see. Might not be the ones you want. Show some class guys.
Very good list i'm sure your top 20 would include some of the others mentioned.

Interesting list. I agree that most of those films should be on the list. I would rank it:

5: Dark Knight Rises - (not impressed with anything I've seen of it so far - except for Bane holding the broken mask.)
4: John Carter - Just looks amazing.
3: Total Recall - I like the cast and think this will be a sleeper hit.
2: Amazing Spidey - I heard from reliable sources that it is looking amazing so far.
1: Avengers. 'nuff said.

I don't dislike the article's ranking. I just don't agree with it. To each his own.

I thought about it and I actually want to see John Carter more than Avengers or TDKR, but I want to see the other 2 soooo bad. I hope JC is good I remeber those other old pulp comic movies. The Shadow and The Phantom was rentals at best for me. A Doc Savage movie would be awesome if done right. Is there even an audience for it though. I'd hate to be the only one in the theater giggling like a school girl for Doc Savage flick!
CaptainTall

Very interesting list.... Also, you've opened my eyes to several other movies coming out next year, so thank you!

Based on the movies on this list...

15. Total Recall

Ugh, you had to remind me this was coming out.... I hope Bill Nigh and Bryan Cranston can save this abomination. Or maybe I can go to Recall and get a lobotomy, to forget about this remake all over again.

14. G.I JOE: Retaliation.

Meh.

13. DREDD

I'm actually really interested in seeing this one and hoping for it to be good, mainly cause I remember Karl Urban from LOTR so I fanboy squeal whenever he's mentioned.

12. Skyfall

I've always wanted to get into James Bond, but I've never had access to any of the movies, so I'll go and see this one.

11. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Honest Abe hackin' up blood suckers. Need I say more?

10. Looper.

I love Bruce Willis, (He's one of my favorite actors) and the premise sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately this will probably end up being a movie I don't go see even though I really want to.

9. Gravity

It sounds cool, I suppose. Kinda sounds like it'd be similar to Apollo 13, which was a really good movie.

8. The Bourne Legacy.

Jeremy Renner is REALLY good at what he does (Which, in his roles, happen to be killing). Even though I get a little aggravated whenever he's brought up, I do like him and I recognize his talent. Hopefully I'll get to watch the first three Bourne's before seeing this, though.

7. Prometheus

I've never seen an Alien movie, so I go into this movie eagerly expecting greatness.

6. John Carter

It looks amazing.

5. The Amazing Spider-Man.

I think it will SUCK, but hey, it's Spider-Man, and I can't help but love the little guy, so he gets a break.

4. Men In Black III

I love both MIB movies and the trailer looked hilarious and fantastic, so here's hoping.

3. The Avengers

It'll probably be good, nothing spectacular, just a summer blockbuster-level story and great action.

2. The Dark Knight Rises.

This will be spectacular. This will be one of the greatest things to touch the big screen. This will be incredible.

1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I have a major weakness for LOTR. I love it, it's one of my favorites, and The Hobbit is one of my favorite books. Ian McKellen is back as Gandalf, the dwarves looks great, Lee is back as Saruman and Hugo as Elrond. Not to mention Martin Freeman as Bilbo.... color me interested.

Well there's my list. Yours is great, what do you think of mine?
