Moviegoers will begin their Recall experience on Sunday, April 1, as Columbia Pictures debuts the trailer for the highly anticipated action thriller Total Recall during the NBA game between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat broadcast nationally on ABC, it was announced today by Marc Weinstock, president of Worldwide Marketing for Sony Pictures. Total Recall will be released in theaters nationwide on August 3, 2012.

The world premiere of the Total Recall trailer will air during the first half of the game and will be promoted with tune-ins in the week leading up to the game.

Following the trailer's premiere on ABC, a special extended trailer will debut online at www.apple.com/trailers.

The trailer will also launch simultaneously in over 30 countries on broadcast and online outlets.

Commenting on the announcement, Weinstock said, "We're thrilled to be working with the NBA and ABC to give millions of fans all across the country this exciting first look at the trailer."

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The film is directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay is by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and the screen story is by Ronald Shusett & Dan O'Bannon and Jon Povill. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe.

Total Recall is set to hit theatres on August 3, 2012.

No faith in that director, looks generic and boring to me from that snippet of footage. But I'll obviously wait for the full trailer before really ripping into it:)
Banner123 - 3/27/2012, 9:27 AM
Trailers for trailers are for douches. Since when did that become practice?! Seeing more Kate Beckinsale is the only upside of that
TheSkywalkingKnight - 3/27/2012, 9:31 AM
April 1st?! So the film is a joke?
TurdFergunson - 3/27/2012, 9:33 AM
i will pay to go see this flick no matter what the trailer shows or doesn't show. i have a top 3 that i want to see in this movie:

1. it needs to be violent like the original, i wanna see a bunch of shot up [frick]ers!
2. a better version of Quatto. i hope its not some "pop out my belly" CGI crap
3. and definitely alien sluts and hookers in the red light district of Mars aka 3 boobs!
driver - 3/27/2012, 9:36 AM

AlexDeLarge87 - 3/27/2012, 10:13 AM
TheRedHood@ I was just about to say that it reminds me of Deus Ex.
TheGreenBee - 3/27/2012, 10:24 AM
It looks like a reboot of The 5th Element.
TheGreenBee - 3/27/2012, 10:26 AM
Mixed with Minority Report...both great films. I wish it wasn't a remake but more so a indirect sequel like how the new Bourne is.
pintoman - 3/27/2012, 10:33 AM
Geez.

There are WAY too many films being made these days. You can't tell me that the film industry is suffering in any way or that people have stopped watching movies (rather in theaters or elsewhere). Someone, somewhere rakes in the money on these "products". There just isn't that many stories that need to be told (or re-told). All we gain are CGI versions. The only thing that can possibly be improved upon are composite shots since at least that technology is better. I wouldn't say CG is better than models.

Films like John Carter suffer because there are simply too many films on the schedule. The only way this will change is if people take a stand and just stop going to these remakes.

SamHell - 3/27/2012, 10:37 AM
the question is, will it be as cheesy as the original??
prettynuclear2 - 3/27/2012, 10:37 AM
This looks awesome. The guy who wrote Amazing Spider-Man did a polish on the script.
pintoman - 3/27/2012, 10:39 AM
And yes I agree, a trailer for trailer? Lol. It just makes my brain explode.

Or when an advertisement runs before a movie trailer on the web. Uhm....the trailer is already an ad people.
LtAnarchy - 3/27/2012, 10:52 AM
why do they have trailers for trailers??
Gutts81 - 3/27/2012, 10:59 AM
Love the fact that cerberus troops from the mass effect series have a cameo.
BmanHall - 3/27/2012, 11:00 AM
WTF... Was that seriously a trailer for a trailer? We do that now?
RunDTC - 3/27/2012, 11:08 AM
I actually think it looks alright. Farrell (imo) is an underrated actor and Bryan Cranston is the villain? he should do great. plus I get to stare at Beckinsale and Biel for 2 hours? I'm in.
RocketMadnessBoss - 3/27/2012, 11:10 AM
Um... this actually looks bearable. Losing.... hatred....
Seejay - 3/27/2012, 11:34 AM
Looks nice.
headlopper - 3/27/2012, 12:36 PM
"...the most anticipated movie event..."

This tag line's getting a little old.
CoolantTech - 3/27/2012, 12:41 PM
Heard this film wont take place on Mars at all or have anything to do with aliens in a summer full of alien invasions, alien encounters, Alien news (TMNT), and just plain alien interaction, it should be a breath of fresh air.
CoolantTech - 3/27/2012, 12:42 PM
the 3 tit chick... that is all.
SuperFrost - 3/27/2012, 12:45 PM
we want 3 boobs....i think that's really what we all wanna see..lol

Looks a lot like Minority Report.
johan02 - 3/27/2012, 1:07 PM
I can already see it now, no 3 tited alien(fail), no Kuado(more fail), and no Benny the cabby(epic fail)! I mean dam "I got 5 kids to feed" should have been the tagline for the original. From what I know if this theres no Mars so no head imploding from lack of oxygen.(the funny thing is I read the short story all 10 pages of it, and it didn't have any of these things either so this is really closer to the source then the calssic was). What will entice us into the theater? Promises that neither Biel or Beckinsale will get naked? The really cool SF/X that we've seen done a million times before?
Collin Farrells ACTING???!!
Oh GAY, QUEER we go again.......
GreyChaos13Zero - 3/27/2012, 1:14 PM
Epic! and I'm watching that Basketball game, Go Celtics:p
johan02 - 3/27/2012, 1:15 PM
@jimoakley666 maybe, and thats a BIG maybe, maybe thats cause Minority Report was also based on a Phillip K. Dick story of the same name

pro346 - 3/27/2012, 3:06 PM
Looks great!
SuspenseSmith - 3/27/2012, 4:23 PM
Anyone else find it weird that there's commercials for commercials now. It's like the trailer is more important than the film itself.

How many times have you seen a trailer that's better than the movie it's advertising?

How many movies make a bunch of money opening weekend then drops off the next week because everyone thought it sucked and told their friends to not go?

Sometimes I feel like a tool buying into a trailer. They lie to me.
Giraffehead - 3/27/2012, 5:05 PM
@NeoBaggins

I was thinking the same thing during the Prometheus trailer.

@Fogs

Don't worry SuperSaiyan has declared that this sort of thing never happens.
djmyth13 - 3/27/2012, 5:35 PM
