Tomorrow is the 46th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series, and with that, many are expecting some official new info for the upcoming J.J. Abrams-helmed sequel, set to be released on May 17, 2013. The film still doesn't have a title, but that could change soon. According to Coming Soon, Paramount Pictures have registered two domains: www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie. More below:

"We've been been told that the 2013 J.J. Abrams sequel has chosen a title and will hit theaters as Star Trek Into Darkness. Although we have not yet been able to officially confirm said title, the domain names were both registered yesterday through Markmonitor, an anonymous domain registry service that just so happens to have been utilized by Paramount Pictures for recent URLs like their official G.I. Joe: Retaliation site.".

Again, nothing is confirmed, so stay tuned.

UPDATE: TrekMovie.com says that this is indeed a title for the new Star Trek film:

"TrekMovie has confirmed with multiple sources that Star Trek Into Darkness" has been selected as the title for the Star Trek movie. As noted in our earlier article, the title does not include a colon, like were used for the Next Generation films such as "Star Trek: First Contact" or "Star Trek: Nemesis."

Cast: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller.

Sounds like "Thor: The Dark World", but, the only thing that interests me is the plot.

Sounds fine to me but I could care less about the title. Whatever the title is i am super excited for this movie. Most anticipated of 2012
DrainBamage - 9/7/2012, 9:34 PM
...Into Darkness? Eww.
B00uWhore692 - 9/7/2012, 9:43 PM
I mean, for the record, I've always thought that the Dark Knight Rises was a lousy title for the last in the Nolan trilogy, but I loved the movie. Don't judge a book by its cover.
TheAbomination - 9/7/2012, 9:44 PM
Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Star Trek Into Darkness

What the f*ck is up with Hollywood's fascination of the dark?

RSDhillon - 9/7/2012, 9:51 PM
There's no colon because they're literally going to trek into the darkness. I guess?
SonOfStarKiller - 9/7/2012, 10:01 PM
I'm with Lego. They could call it STAR TREK SPACE BOOGALOO for all I care. Just make the story is awesome!
AmericanPsychoWolf - 9/7/2012, 10:03 PM
Maybe Into The Darkness would had been better?
MJPETTY7 - 9/7/2012, 10:03 PM
It should have a colon in my opinion... Star Trek: Into Darkness sounds/looks better than Star Trek Into Darkness... Just saying!
JustCallMeRazzy - 9/7/2012, 10:11 PM
@thatwolfman yeah i agree even just adding "the" in there would make this a waaaay better title. but honestly, if this is anywhere near as good as the first, i dont care WHAT the title is haha
lokibane2012 - 9/7/2012, 10:16 PM
I'm sure they'll eventually add a colon, or at least turn "Into Darkness" into the subtitle for the posters.
SymbioteSpidey1 - 9/7/2012, 10:21 PM
Just make it good and PLEASE bring back Nimoy!
Jolt17 - 9/7/2012, 10:29 PM
Quite an odd-sounding title, indeed, and the lack of colon does make it look even weirder, but...screw it; it's still in the hands of J. J. Abrams, and Benedict Cumberbatch is the main antagonist, in it.
CoLest - 9/7/2012, 10:42 PM
Well, *sigh* I dont love it but it doesnt mean the movie will be bad.
Maximus101 - 9/7/2012, 10:47 PM
Ya I could care less what the title is as well, just as long as the movie is as amazing as the first I'm happy.
darkmetal - 9/7/2012, 10:54 PM

@earzmundo Interplanetary Orgy! Uhura needs Alice Eve to get involved or shes in big trouble.
hope420 - 9/7/2012, 11:25 PM
I'd rather have a good movie with a bad name then a bad movie with a good name. That make sense?
eatburn - 9/7/2012, 11:55 PM
Stop saying "Darkness"
Jollem - 9/8/2012, 12:22 AM
the rise of dark
nickyb034 - 9/8/2012, 12:45 AM
Really not seeing why all the hate... I mean its not the greatest title but the title is just a title. As long as JJ gives us another great flick who cares what he titles it?
loki668 - 9/8/2012, 1:50 AM
They could have fully jumped on other bandwagons and called it "The Star Trek Rises" or "The Star Trekkers" or "The Amazing Star Trek" or "Oogieloves and the Star Trek" or "Captain Kirk and the Amazing Technicolor Star Trek".

Lord Loki has spoken
RorMachine - 9/8/2012, 2:04 AM
I like it..I think
Nomis1800 - 9/8/2012, 2:45 AM

marvel72 - 9/8/2012, 4:07 AM
the title doesn't make me not want to see it,bring it on i need a trailer soon.
SuperPickle - 9/8/2012, 5:26 AM
The lack of a colon makes it read like a sentence, in which case "Star trek into darkness" reads very awkwardly. Whatever, though. If it's as good as the first one, I'll have no complaints.
nld3 - 9/8/2012, 5:58 AM
No colon, they just had to put their spin on this.
Spidey31 - 9/8/2012, 6:15 AM
Star Trek darkness=STD abbreviation
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 9/8/2012, 6:18 AM
I love it! 'Star Trek into Darkness', and everyone wants a "Colon"... *Laughs at own anus reference*.
Ha1frican - 9/8/2012, 6:54 AM
They cant cal it "Star Trek 2" because there ALREADY IS a Star Trek 2
ZombieHunter - 9/8/2012, 6:58 AM
Sounds like Star Trek meets Apocalypse Now. I love the smell of Photon Torpedoes in the morning.

or

Star Trek: We Couldn't Think Of A Good Title So We Went With This

BRandom - 9/8/2012, 7:03 AM
Seriously couldn't care less what they call it, this movie will be boss!
beetheb - 9/8/2012, 7:39 AM
Yeah, that somehow sounds both generic and weird at the same time, if that's the best they could come up with they need new marketing people.

I'm also not as convinced as some of you seem to be that JJ Abrams can do no wrong. So far his film track record consists of two mediocre films (Super 8 and Cloverfield) and one good one (Star Trek).
