How Is Mark Hamill Preparing for STAR WARS VII?

Recent images have fans wondering how Luke Skywalker might be portrayed in the 2015 sequel - if he is included at all.

At the recent CapeTown Film Festival, Hamill voiced his hope to play a Jedi master in the next installment of the STAR WARS saga, with any action “heavy on the Jedi mind tricks, less on the lightsaber duels. That one in ‘Empire’ nearly killed me.”

Recent images of Hamill appear to confirm that Hamill is not preparing himself for anything that might be taxing physically in the near future -- scrounging up cigarette butts from public ashtrays before pounding a burger.

Hamill certainly does not cut the thin, athletic figure he displayed in Episodes IV, V & VI. Granted, the years have taken a toll on his appearance, but he has clearly not taken care of himself physically -- at least not as well as his (older) co-star Harrison Ford.

Principal photography of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is expected to begin in early 2014, a scant seven months from now.

Granted, I love a good burger. If I were really desirous of getting a role as big as this, along with the possible revenue, I would be cutting back on the smokes and burgers for a while. I'd also be dropping the pounds with a strict diet and workout regimen. One would imagine that Disney would be more than happy to provide such amenities to Hamill in preparation for filming.

In past episodes, even the oldest Jedi have been in decent condition and fight-ready. Has Disney signed-off on having Hamill be a doughy, sedentary Jedi?

Do you believe that Hamill really has any desire (or hope) to pick up the Skywalker torch again?

Maybell they'll "Clu" his face on another body. Or maybe he'll be a Jedi guide for a younger Jedi Obi-Wan style. All force and mind tricks.

That's saddening.

@Khan: I couldn't find anything beyond confirmation that he's been negotiating -- but nothing final and binding.

The cigarette butt scrounging is absolutely bizarre. Who the [frick] does that, except for hobos?!

@blackandyellow

At least Jabba used a hookah. Gawd, who would have thought that Jabba would be more concerned about hygiene than Luke one day?!

Who gives a crap if he eats a hamburger? That being said that cigarette butt thing is gross as hell.

There are fat Jedi BTW, I mean have you ever seen Vader's ghost? Total fatty.

Meh he can have a burger if he wants, even if he's in Ep VII I doubt he'll be doing much. Although before the Star Wars announcement it did seem he was trying to revive his on-screen career and yh he doesn't look healthy, it wouldn't hurt for him to try and lose a couple pounds.

@Khan

Who are you imposter?

For a 61-year-old who hasn't really done any acting since the early 90s (not including voice acting of course) he's not doing too bad. He'll get into shape a little more. Carrie Fisher will too. Disney will probably meet them pretty high in terms of payment negotiation, but the reason they'll be doing the films at all will be for the fans. That's why I'm not expecting them to be really fit and doing fight scenes. There's probably no money amount that would be enough for them to want to go through all that training. Cut them some slack, let them be lazy. Sleep safe knowing that the actors from the 3 Star Wars movies that we actually liked will be passing down the baton themselves, and therefore Lucasfilm will have at least a slightly harder time ruining the Star Wars universe.

That sucks!
KeefNCookies - 5/30/2013, 7:04 AM
To be fair, Harrison Ford kept on being a movie star whereas Hamill really hasnt done ANYTHING worth noting aside from voice-acting, which of course is hardly demanding. If he had been a constant screen presence over the years, he'd be in better shape.

That said, chubsters needs to run!

Ok now I'm trying to think of reasons why someone of his fam would be scrounging cig butts. Maybe he is trying to quit and has said he won't buy them any more. Still that just shows how u get messed up with fam and money. There is no excuse for him to be doing that. I'm pissed. HOW DISAPPOINTING!

Hmm, I thought I was reading a comic book movie news website, not a crappy tabloid with its non relevant stories. And surprise, surprise, you have the ever reliable Daily Mail, which apparently lifted their story from the even more reliable Sun newspaper.

Please stick to real news, its a bit beneath this website to bring light to such gubbins.

The fag thing is rank though... Maybe he's stalking some girl and saw her put her fag out there lol!
