The last Asian Bond Girl was Michelle Yeoh in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies. She used the exposure to help catapult her career into the international market.

According to reports from Hong Kong, LUST, CAUTION and WU XIA star Tang Wei is sitting atop a short list of female stars to become an Asian Bond Girl in Sam Mendes' upcoming Bond film. The other top contenders include Fan Bingbing, Li Bingbing, Shu Qi and Josie Ho. - Twitch Film


Producers of the new James Bond film have reportedly interviewed over a hundred actresses for this part and the narrowed it down to the list above. Tange Wei is assumed to be at the top of the list. She has very strong English skills, but more importantly her management company is one of the larger investors in Bond 23.

Craig's third outing as James Bond will be released on October 26, 2012. Daniel Craig will be joined by Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, as well as a Judi Dench as M.
