AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D's Ratings Reach Their Lowest Point Yet

After ten episodes Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has yet to stabilize in ratings as the show dropped a bit more than anticipated.

While The show writing and plot has been definitely getting better and better, the same cannot be said about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D rating.

After a decent boost episode 9 "Repairs" has gotten, reaching a respectable 2.5, yesterday's episode has, unfortunately, seen another drop, and scored the show's lowest share of 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic.

While the show definitely gets some boosts in the +7 DVR ratings, it is still worrying to see that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has not stabilized yet.

Fans of the show should not be worried though, as Coulson and his team managed to come in a confident second place in the same hour, ahead of The Biggest Loser. Add to to that the fact that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is still considered a big win for ABC who always struggled with the 18-49 male demographic.

I really hope the next half of the season does better.
charlie2094 - 12/11/2013, 12:44 PM
No real surprise, it's really been a constant decline since the start with a slight increase when Thor released...still doing fine, just needs to stabilise at some stage

Honestly disappointed again by the latest episode...the ending was good, as was some of the action but still really uneven, like the awful flirty stuff or the age-old "he's stood behind me" joke. It's been showing signs of improving since the start, and is definitely a decent watch so hopefully it continues to improve

:/ I just wish they would use some comic characters. Some heroes and villains not made up [frick]ing characters.
Growup - 12/11/2013, 12:55 PM
Graviton, Scorch, Victoria Hand, Agent Sitwell, Coulson, Mariah Hill, Nick fury are comic character and are in the show.
TheBlackNerd - 12/11/2013, 12:56 PM
Thank God! Hopefully Marvel learns better ways to expand their franchise. the whole Netflix gig is a great start!

Bye-Bye AoS...

BenClark - 12/11/2013, 1:06 PM
So why didn't CBM post about the ratings hitting its highest since episode 1 two weeks ago?
jlabatman - 12/11/2013, 1:07 PM
[frick] AoS, bring on the Netflix shows!
BatmanRobinNightwing - 12/11/2013, 1:07 PM
Lol @grif. That seems a little harsh.
Rockteur - 12/11/2013, 1:08 PM
If they spent 3 cents on market research and gave fans what they wanted (a more adult show), they would get the ratings they are looking for.

Right now this show deserves to be cancelled.
BatmanRobinNightwing - 12/11/2013, 1:09 PM
@benclark maybe because last weeks episode was goin up against the 1980s rudolf the red nosed reindeer special. If you want to brag about that go for it lol
Karmatron - 12/11/2013, 1:12 PM
surprised!..........

NOT

I cringed SO HARD and almost didn't want to watch any more when they did the whole "He's right behind me, isn't he?" bit. I'm really trying to figure out how the writers of something as funny and great as Dr.Horrible can be behind this. The set ups for the jokes, heck the jokes themselves are like they're written for an 8 year old to enjoy. They are SO cliche and it KILLS me. The MCU movies are wonderful because we have Coulson being the cool and calm funny guy. You've also got RDJ improvising most of his lines, and this is where all the good comedy comes from, but that's mostly where it ends. They understand that the movies are an action, adventure movie first and foremost. That's what most of us I think are expecting from this show. But when you've got almost every character on the team, trying to be the funny guy...it's too much!

I desperately, truly want to love the hell out of this show, but if they continue to pepper bad comedy throughout the episodes, I'm afraid it's just going to keep losing viewers.
BatmanRobinNightwing - 12/11/2013, 1:15 PM
lol i love the rudolf special i meant no disrespect... that shitt is classic.
kevberg - 12/11/2013, 1:16 PM
Last 3-4 episodes have been very good. I dont get the hate.

go watch that sh@t dracula show or once upon a time ya pansies...LOL

@TheBlackNerd

I absolutely LOVE comments like yours. Sooo matter of fact when you clearly have no clue. It's like as generic an opinion can get.

Anyways, the show IS getting better but I'm seriously at the point where I forget that it's even on. It's not must see TV like Arrow is. On Arrow I know that I get a new character from the comics introduced almost every week. I know that there's nothing to see on SHIELD besides an intriguing 1 minute teaser at the very end that gives some (vague) insight into Coulsen's whole deal. I still have faith however. Can't wait to see how it all ties into Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April.
BatmanRobinNightwing - 12/11/2013, 1:17 PM
i just meant most people have seen the rudolf special 100x so that is why AoS had high ratings a week ago

Regina George is beautiful.

This show still is on the aire? Lol I stopped watching when Coulson flew off in a hovercraft..... Not because of that, it was just the last thing I seen
Ignition - 12/11/2013, 1:20 PM
At the start of the season:
12.12 million viewers, 4.7 in the key demo

Midseason finale:
5.92 million viewers, 2.0 in the key demo

This is both the most hyped and ultimately the most disappointing network show in a couple of years . Clearly the Disney marketing machine did it's job, but the directing, writing and performances have not held their end of the bargain.
soforizo - 12/11/2013, 1:21 PM
While the previous ratings were inflated undoubtedly inflated, unfortunately "Repairs" was one of the worst episodes of AoS and a wasted opportunity coming on a night where NCIS was off the air.

The increasing L+7 numbers suggest that viewers aren't dropping it all entirely, so it still has a chance to mitigate the loss.
Ucantpruvdemmykids - 12/11/2013, 1:21 PM
Agreed Nightwing you nut! I'm trying to enjoy this show but for the first time, I was tempted not to watch it. Then I saw where the writers said the fans should just enjoy the show because they won't do anything to please the fans.............what kind of arrogance is that!?! This show seems to be targeted towards 8 year olds and should be on the Family channel.
ForeverPowerful - 12/11/2013, 1:21 PM
There's no [frick]ing point to this show at all. I love the hell out of Coulsen but he should have stayed dead, and whatever stupid reason they give is going to seem forced to me.
jlabatman - 12/11/2013, 1:23 PM
I'd rather watch a Netflix Daredevil look for his ass with both hands in the dark than another minute of AoS!
BatmanRobinNightwing - 12/11/2013, 1:24 PM
heres some positive news for everyone... Arrow is on tonight and it'll probably be epic like the rest of s2 has been
JoeMomma29 - 12/11/2013, 1:25 PM
I think the ratings reflect the story arc, they seem to be all over the place.
NeoBaggins - 12/11/2013, 1:25 PM
I can't believe I'm hearing the implied conspiracy of not posting good things about AOS on a MARVEL-DRIVEN web site. Anything related to MARVELstudios is handed down from the Heavens around here. So, it is highly unlikely that positive AOS stats were omitted in villainous fashion.

Anyway...

It did. RorMachine wrote about it here.

LMAO! How dare you use such logic and sense!

Pasto

You know the rules you can bash DC but Marvel is hands off!!!!!!!!
NeoBaggins - 12/11/2013, 1:35 PM
@JoeMomma

I know I know. Some times, when I'm not rambling and talking crazy, I accidentally make sense lol.
Interestein - 12/11/2013, 1:39 PM
Arrow season one was just as bad...
Interestein - 12/11/2013, 1:40 PM
Love it now, but I really hope AoS gets better, making me sad.
TheBlackNerd - 12/11/2013, 1:40 PM
@Stubner

I feel delighted honestly...lol The show is crap and everyone knows it now. I could honestly care less how "Agent Coulson" came back to life, [frick] his lame character, the BORING plots, uninteresting characters and the cheesy S.H.I.E.L.D agents. lol

Why waste two seasons with this as the "huge shocking revealing truth" when they could honestly introduce lesser known villains and heroes to the small screen? Yeah Netflix is slightly doing this but S.H.I.E.L.D 's background is so massive and here we are focusing on...

Bandit - 12/11/2013, 1:41 PM
[frick] it, there's nothing better on at that hour for me so I'm going to keep watching it, get what I can out of it and for that I kind of like the show. I don't mind seeing where it goes, I'm somewhat curious and I want to see what comes of it. It's not perfect granted, but so what, you're allowed to watch other shows outside of this one.
Get what you can get out of it, don't like, boo freaking hoo, don't watch it.
Don't have the time to go all ape shit and cry just because I'm not perfectly happy with the show.
In the end I'm willing to let this show go as far as it wants, I'll watch it, it's great but not everything has to be.

Haters gonna hate.

By the way, anyone know where my hat is?
TelaVizion - 12/11/2013, 1:42 PM
Gotta love all the fake hate AoS gets.
TheBlackNerd - 12/11/2013, 1:44 PM
But in all honestly Marvel just needs to really take their time and plan things out before they just jump into things. I believe that as the years expand the show will indeed progress.
TheBlackNerd - 12/11/2013, 1:47 PM
*the shows*
JoeMomma29 - 12/11/2013, 1:48 PM
@ Interestein

Arrow season one was just as bad...

Really? I would say the first four episodes were kinda slow but the second half of the season was great and the season finale was amazing!
Bandit - 12/11/2013, 1:54 PM
To add, I think nothing's perfect really. I got to say though, I love a lot of the films and shows that we get to see and read about through CBM. Arrow, AoS, if it's Marvel or DC I like watching these things, not all of it is perfect but I really do love these things. AoS has faults, sure, a lot, quite a lot, but it's okay, that's the game, if you can enjoy a single second of these shows or movies they've good a job. They can do better, I'm sure at ABC with the writers of AoS they're talking about how to go about making the show better, I'm willing to take a bit of optimism in that I want to see more. Along with every other show, movie, so on and so on.

Plus, seriously I want my hat anyone know where it is?
