Marvel Continues Fox Lockout By Cancelling ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR?

Relations between Marvel and Fox have been edgy (to say the least) as of late with some members of Fox's creative team claiming Marvel were attempting to damage their Marvel comic book properties... and they might be right! Hit the jump to check out the latest twist!

In what appears to be yet another move in the Fox lockout, Marvel are cancelling the (new) Ultimate Fantastic Four after just six issues. The book's writer Joshua Hale Fialkov took to Twitter to announce that the book would end, saying the following, "Sad to say that UFF is finished with issue 6 and due to my illness last month, my last issue is 5. Heartbroken but extremely grateful."

Marvel have since confirmed Fialkov's statement, increasing suspicions that Marvel intend to decrease the popularity of their comic book properties owned by 20th Century Fox after reports last month claimed that publishers were restricting Fantastic Four comics.

What do you think? Is Marvel deliberately trying to force Fox's hand into releasing the team's film rights? Or are the team just not pulling in enough money? Sign off your thoughts below!

LOL Marvel stop it

They must really want the F4 in the MCU if they'll do anything for FOX's movie to fail.
WinterSoldier33 - 6/18/2014, 9:51 AM
i hope marvel realities that 95 percent of the people that watch CBM don't read comics
TheFirstAvenger97 - 6/18/2014, 9:52 AM
Wait, this is actually a thing?
JoeMomma29 - 6/18/2014, 9:53 AM
If this is true than this is just childish on Marvel's part. Why taint the F4 movie franchise even more all that means is we will not get a Marvel Studios F4 for at least 6 to 8 years......

I really wish Marvel Studios can work out a deal with Fox and Sony to start folding their properties together. I mean you know SONY and FOX will continue to make these movies to keep these rights away from Marvel.
Highflyer - 6/18/2014, 9:53 AM
WTF????
yossarian - 6/18/2014, 9:54 AM
I don't care. But really people think this is sabotage? Like...Fox needs help to make bad CBMs?
SuperCat - 6/18/2014, 9:54 AM
So this is really true?
EzioKenway1225 - 6/18/2014, 9:55 AM
really Marvel, thats just stupid, if u have a problem with FF being at Fox and not under Marvel Studios, then also cancel X Men and Spider Man too..this is fecking stupid, even though im indifferent towards the FF reboot right now.it has a great cast and a great director
Reasonnnn - 6/18/2014, 9:56 AM
@JoeMomma It is known that there's some real deep hatred between Marvel and FOX. It's worse than the perceived Marvel vs. WB/DC rivalry that this site loves to portray
RexDartEskimoSpy - 6/18/2014, 9:56 AM
*Marvel cancels Ultimate FF*
*crickets chirp*
*Earth continues to turn*
*Fox movie reboot still sounds ridiculous*

I can't speak to what's going on at Marvel Publishing, but I can guarandamntee that canceling a comic that no one was reading will have zero effect on whether people go see a big budget summer tentpole movie.
MrNiklander - 6/18/2014, 9:56 AM
Or maybe because Fantastic Four are not bringing the huge bucks.Seriously from that Marvel is the one who is acting stupid here whether the reboot movie comes bad or good the comics wont change because of that.PERIOD
cipher - 6/18/2014, 9:56 AM
I never kept up with the Ultimate line.
Nomis - 6/18/2014, 9:57 AM
So this was true?
JoeMomma29 - 6/18/2014, 9:59 AM
@ Reasonnn

If this is true than all the Marvel fans can kiss any crossovers with FOX or Sony in the future. To me Marvel is becoming the bully on the play ground and eventually they are going to do themselves in by alienating themselves.

Heck imagine the box office numbers if you did a X Men/Avengers movie? Or any one of Marvel Studios movies crossover with Spidey? I mean there is so much more potential there.

StarYeezus - 6/18/2014, 9:59 AM
If they were smart, they would actually sell merchandise for these non-MS movies to get more money, which could result in more buying power to get these rights back.

This is still speculation, though. In before the witchhunt.
EzioKenway1225 - 6/18/2014, 10:00 AM
The GA doesnt care, if they think the movie looks good, they will go see it, this is a stupid, stupid move

but whats odd is that the only FF member on that team is Sue Storm, the Ultimate FF team is Ultimate Falcon, Ultimate Tony Stark and Ultimate Machine Man
KidGoku - 6/18/2014, 10:00 AM
Fantastic Four is just lame
KidGoku - 6/18/2014, 10:00 AM
Ultimate Universe (aside from Spider-Man) just sucks
Azbat - 6/18/2014, 10:00 AM
next up: Cancelling Spider-Man and X-Men
Azbat - 6/18/2014, 10:01 AM
but I think the reason for this is not to get back the 4. I think it's for Doctor Doom.
StarYeezus - 6/18/2014, 10:01 AM
Did they cancel Allred's FF already?
NickNaylor2Face - 6/18/2014, 10:02 AM

KidGoku - 6/18/2014, 10:02 AM
@Azbat

Dr. Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer and The Skrulls(?)

But Dr. Doom for sure.
Phronesis - 6/18/2014, 10:02 AM
@cipher Didn't miss anything special. I must admit the first six issues are actually pretty good but as the story continue it starts to lose its "groove". It tries too hard to be scientific and adventurous and loses focus on the "Fantastic" part of the characters and their journeys.
EzioKenway1225 - 6/18/2014, 10:03 AM
StarYeezus-the fantastic four book was just relaunched under James Robinson
Nomis - 6/18/2014, 10:03 AM
Hey, if it works and somehow get it where FOX sell the property rights back to MARVEL so it's studios can REBOOT the FF movies, Then I'm all for it!

Try with canceling all the X-men comics next! maybe that get them out from FOX studios also!

antoineflemming - 6/18/2014, 10:03 AM
Yet people will continue to praise Marvel...
Chekkarma - 6/18/2014, 10:04 AM
Marvel is pushing hard for this...knowing marvel they have plans for merging FF4 into the Marvel movie fold....watch your back Spidey lol
StarYeezus - 6/18/2014, 10:04 AM
@Azbat

As shitty as ASM2 was (in my opinion) Marvel still has a good relationship with Sony. They helped Marvel Studios get started.
Pasto - 6/18/2014, 10:05 AM
antoine
Because Marvel can do no wrong, duh. They are a saint compared to the devils out there.
Pasto - 6/18/2014, 10:05 AM
PRAISE MARVEL!
BatzFTWfan - 6/18/2014, 10:05 AM
@KidGoku: ^^ It's easy. MS want Doctor Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Skrulls, and some characters, F4 doesn't really needed like Thing, even Sue Storm. The villains are useful, especially with Guardians opening these doors.

I honestly get tired of this shit, if Fox really wants to see a good F4 movie, just give it back to Marvel Studios and they know what to do, although my confidence returned from Days of Future Past.
NicolausCopernicus - 6/18/2014, 10:06 AM
Or maybe they are just looking a way to reboot the comic making the human torch black
Gusto - 6/18/2014, 10:06 AM
