Last summer Hot Toys gave us a range of "Ultra Premium" Iron Man 3 movie figures. While most are now out of production, the company NECA are releasing a 1/4 scale Iron Man 3 suit of their own, the Mark XXI, the Midas Suit.

When originally released the Midas figure was quickly bought up by fans for obvious reasons.

The interesting part? NECA have chosen not to market this as an Iron Man 3 suit, instead going with the Avengers branding. It could be a simple branding problem or maybe they just want to associate with the seemingly endless supply of money that is the Avengers.

Chances are that the gun's been jumped but as fans it is our job to speculate, and it does look a lot like the Marvel 616 version of Iron Man's Age of Ultron suit...

Nice suit!
CaptainObvious - 12/17/2013, 12:21 PM
If it's true, so much for "hot-rod red."
TimL - 12/17/2013, 12:26 PM
Probably not. I seriously expect them to make a fully new suit (different design/technology) for Avengers 2. Maybe some Extremis tech suit, who knows?
TheActionAce - 12/17/2013, 12:31 PM
That looks like the Avengers suit, but painted gold
jlabatman - 12/17/2013, 12:33 PM
eh, it's alright, definitely not as good as the original!
DrDoom - 12/17/2013, 12:43 PM
This suit was destroyed in Iron Man 3, so I doubt it

No it's the Mark 21 and it blew up at the end of Iron Man 3.
LMB10 - 12/17/2013, 12:47 PM

I want a bloody suit of armour.
ruadh - 12/17/2013, 1:07 PM
@ShadowPimp723

That's correct. It's the simplest explanation for why it's marketed as "Avengers" rather than IM3, since it's simply a repaint. They're STILL putting out Hot Toys Avengers figures (the Chitauri and Bruce Banner recently went up for preorder).

DEV, mate.. I trust you'll tranq me before I ever get so spectacularly smashed that I attempt to fly one made of empty beer cans.

Friends don't let friends fly drunk.
themidnightking - 12/17/2013, 1:09 PM
As long as the movie is good, I really don't care. Bleeding Edge would be awesome to see on-screen though.
NovaCorpsFan - 12/17/2013, 1:13 PM
ciph

I beg to disagree, I once let a friend jump off the worktop under the impression he could fly.

Hahahahahahahaha, well, in that case.. make sure you've got the camera rolling. I'm always willing to put myself at risk for the amusement of others.

We have cameras constantly pointed at you and you don't even know it. The Story of Cipher is about 70% filmed. We plan yo premiere it at Cannes in 2015

Geotheleo - 12/17/2013, 2:44 PM

Geotheleo - 12/17/2013, 2:47 PM

DefcoN - 12/17/2013, 2:48 PM
It IS the Mark VII! I have one from HT at home and this model is remarkably similar.
EarOne - 12/17/2013, 2:52 PM
AoU's gonna be SICK!!! looking forward to it MORE than SvsB..plus W..plus F..oh furcryinoutloud...just call that one JLfrigginA already.
TheRationalNerd - 12/17/2013, 3:41 PM
He should've wore the gold armor in Avengers!
l0rdleg0las - 12/17/2013, 4:06 PM
As awesome as the Bleeding Edge armor is, there really is no way to make it the same as the comics.
whoa123 - 12/17/2013, 5:03 PM
Isn't that the MK.VII only with different colors?
ruadh - 12/17/2013, 5:18 PM
Yes, it's a repaint of the VII.

"No images have been released of the Avengers version, I had to use one from the Iron Man 3 run"

There's a picture of it in the link for your source.

"A little ostentatious don't you think?"
Interestein - 12/17/2013, 6:10 PM
I want Bleeding Edge or Marvel NOW! armor.
npamusic - 12/17/2013, 6:44 PM
I doubt this'll be the new armor. But Tony should, and WILL suit up in The Avengers 2. He'll have some sort of way to. He has to, right?
npamusic - 12/17/2013, 6:46 PM
MightyZeus - 12/18/2013, 2:37 AM
I like that armor. I would not have a problem if the armor where introduced in AoU but i have to say i'd love to see the Bleeding Edge armor in AoU
hurleychris07 - 12/18/2013, 4:09 AM
NECA has the lisence for Avengers 1/4 scale figures but not Iron Man 3, thats it
Midas was an armor featured in the house party scene in IM3
hurleychris07 - 12/18/2013, 4:10 AM
They are making a repaint to gain profits for future figures, repaints are cheap, new molds are not
BaronZemo - 12/18/2013, 4:20 AM
I hope this doesn't end up being the one, but it would make a little bit of sense because of the "golden avenger" thing
JediPhilosopher - 12/18/2013, 5:22 AM
I really like the Ironman movies, mainly the first one and Avengers, but I just don't understand people going crazy every time he has different armor. I mean, that's just what Tony Stark does, he's a tinkerer.
JediPhilosopher - 12/18/2013, 5:26 AM
@0megaDaGod I'm sort of a fan of the idea of the Fantastic Four. It would be awesome to see the real Marvel able to include them in its cinematic universe. And Spiderman and the X-Men, but I guess there's little hope for those.
