The Lego Movie sequel has a release date. The followup to Warner Bros. smash hit will land on May 26 2017! Warner Bros. made the announcement today after the film crossed 200 million dollars worldwide! The studio have drafted in Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan on screenwriting duties. Right now it's unknown whether Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will return on voice duties alongside Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman.

What do you think? Does The Lego Movie need (or deserve) a second installment? Sign off your thoughts in the usual place!

An ordinary guy named Emmet (Chris Pratt) is mistaken as being the Master Builder, the one who can save the universe. With the aid of an old mystic Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), a tough young lady named Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), and Batman (Will Arnett), Emmet will fight to defeat the evil tyrant Lord Business (Will Ferrell) who is bent on destroying the universe by gluing it together.

Ah man. I don't think this movie needs a sequel. The first one was GREAT though.

i don't even like Marvel that much(therefore, MARVEL STUDIOS is overrated as [frick]) but I Just can't deny Warner lack of struggle to put DC on the [frick]ing map of CBMs.

The Dark Knight trilogy and MoS still beat the crap out of Marvel movies though.
Pasto - 2/21/2014, 12:30 PM
2017? Damn, I might be dead by then.
anthonyEstark - 2/21/2014, 12:31 PM
The first was great, can't wait for the sequel. That is a long time though.
TheBeard - 2/21/2014, 12:32 PM
it was really good not surprised

i'd rather click on this site and find The Incredibles 2 got green lit though
ALmazing - 2/21/2014, 12:39 PM

don't bring that sh*t up in a LEGO thread...also MoS blows chunks :P
ThePowerCosmic - 2/21/2014, 12:44 PM

No they don't. Marvel films are better.
Spidey91 - 2/21/2014, 12:45 PM
why 2017 though? I'm surprised they aren't rushing it to 2015.
Dinotron - 2/21/2014, 12:46 PM
Seriously dude...
I love TDK series and MOS was good but don't be one of those guys
I'm not even going to feed into it
Theace69 - 2/21/2014, 12:46 PM
^ Do you know how long it takes to animate a movie?

Also this movie won't be that good. No Phil Lord & Chris Miller and the movie will suffer. Just look at Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 12:46 PM

Agreed MOS,TDK Trilogy all Classics with Watchmen and V for Vendetta being classics aswell IMO.

Hellboy6666 - 2/21/2014, 12:47 PM
The ending and it's correlation with the real world really took me out of it and made me depressed and sad for both Emmet and that little kid....haven't felt an emotional impact from a film like that since Furngully. 2017 is too far off.
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 12:48 PM
The Power Cosmic

MCU have better films then TDK Trilogy,WATCHMEN,V4Vendetta,MOS.

Dont be ridiculous.

Better comedies maybe,but better films?

No way.
thewonderer - 2/21/2014, 12:48 PM
They better bring back Phil Lord and Chris Miller for this.

If they don't, WB can go burn in [frick]ing hell. You don't start off a franchise with talent, take that way, and aim for the same success.

Seriously, Lord and Miller or [frick] off.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/21/2014, 12:49 PM
Avengers, Iron Man and Captain America TFA are all classics.
Spidey91 - 2/21/2014, 12:49 PM
yeah, they better get the directors back, or it just won't be the same.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/21/2014, 12:50 PM

Yes to me they are much better films and more entertaining. Sorry:(
Hellboy6666 - 2/21/2014, 12:51 PM
Also Fu$& MOS because if you can't beat em join em...also Fu$& xbox1, pepsi, samurai (over ninjas), bud light, Daniel Bryan, low fat milk, west side, capulets, DC, Luigi....
smgmayhem - 2/21/2014, 12:52 PM
@Richard although I enjoy both comic parties what Marvel has done in the past six years alone has been phenomenal. I agree they've had some misses but most if not all have been major hits with a strong majority of people. Their risks have spawn other companies to follow suit with their properties as well. I would say that their rating has great merit.
Dinotron - 2/21/2014, 12:53 PM
All of Marvels films will be classics since try were the first to do a Cinematic universe like they have.

Dinotron - 2/21/2014, 12:56 PM
DC purists will continue to hate on Marvel films till 2016 to be honest

Marvel is better when it comes to bringing their characters to the big screen, thats fact

DC has the best animation and currently TV series

That's how it is
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:01 PM
@ThePower Cosmic

Sorry I read comics not comedic comics,If I did the MCU would be relevant, but they cater forced humour and silly stakes over real [plot, story or villain.

Batman Begins
Watchmen Directors Cut
The Dark Knight
Man of Steel
The Dark Knight Rises

OVER anything I have seen in the MCU,easily!
Pedrito - 2/21/2014, 1:07 PM
Essentially... "Marvel films have humor, therefore they are comedies and not comic book movies, therefore WB has better comic book movies."

What a stupid cop out. Some people are insane enough to convince themselves of dumb bullshit like that.
Batmaniac - 2/21/2014, 1:10 PM

MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:11 PM
people thinking comedies are reflection of comic books are the most insane [[so called comic book readers]]
jimoakley666 - 2/21/2014, 1:14 PM
This film was ace. Really honoured what Lego is all about. You wouldn't really need the same cast or characters for it to work, either.
Dinotron - 2/21/2014, 1:16 PM
If that's your opinion than that's cool!

You just have to wait 2 more years till you like another CBM, because the next few will have comedy in in them, this you won't like them
Graz - 2/21/2014, 1:20 PM
Can't wait. The Lego Movie is awesome. Can't wait to watch it again on my 3DTV.
Jimbobatpool93 - 2/21/2014, 1:24 PM
I like the Marvel movies because they are "Fun" something that DC Movies aren't where is the fun or the light moments because the DC Movies are too serious .
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:25 PM

WB version of Toy Story the Lego Movie has BATMAN in it,I think WB putting DC characters in film is beyond your comprehension.
smgmayhem - 2/21/2014, 1:26 PM
I'm just happy DC is finally moving forward with their properties in a massive way. but they should seriously consider splitting from Warner and forming their own studio to handle the movies themselves.
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:27 PM
Tone of Comic book movies I like are similar in tone to the comics I read.

I never bought a comedic comic in my life, did you?
DrunkenNukem - 2/21/2014, 1:28 PM
2017?? damn seems so far away...the movie was so cool
smgmayhem - 2/21/2014, 1:33 PM
Watchmen has got to be the greatest one they've done that had the same grit and visual of the comic. But DC and Marvel have always had different styles when it came to their stories respectively.
ThePowerCosmic - 2/21/2014, 1:41 PM

You have a very limited scope of comic books and movies. Time to branch out and grow beyond a few dark titles. I'm gonna guess you are around 14 to 17 years old. Am I right?
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:42 PM

Agreed,I love all comic book movies, but when people get jumped up and say FOX is shit or WB is shit and there defence is the MCU and all the comedy it brings,I take that as a insult,I have yet to see a better Marvel film then First Class or SPIDERMAN2.1.

I just hate it when people think comedy is the answer to comic books. It makes comic book readers look comedic.
MantiniumBorn - 2/21/2014, 1:44 PM

If I was 14 I would think the light silly stakes of a comic book movie would be interpreted best by the MCU.

I am not a child looking for a few laughs when I see my comic book characters,I have some care for how these characters are portrayed.
