DC are leading the charge when it comes to comic book video games, leaving Marvel in their wake, but things might be about to change. After their previous attempt at bringing Earth's Mightiest Heroes to consoles was scrapped, Marvel are keen to take their superhero ensamble to gamers!
Marvel's head of gaming, TQ Jefferson, sat down with IGN to talk about why the world's most famous team of heroes hasn't made it to gaming platforms yet, revealing that Marvel are waiting for the right developers to create the game:

The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right, it has to hit our three pillars: Fun and engaging gameplay, true to the characters, compelling story. Without hitting those notes, we shouldn’t do it. Gamers, they know better. They’re not going to flock to something that’s sub-par. I think the fact that there wasn’t an Avengers game turned out in time for the film is indicative of Marvel’s new attitude and the approach to how we find partners and build games. I think in the heyday of the movie licensed game, these games were popping out all the time and most of them sucked.

So it looks like Marvel are pretty serious about taking their heroes to gamers, but what do you think? Would you buy/play a Marvel video game? Will Marvel's late start be a big disadvantage? Sign off your thoughts on the plans below; and while you're here, check out the footage from Marvel's cancelled Avengers video game, The Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes!

I really liked the pre-alpha footage of the cancelled Avengers game. I hope we can get something like that in the future.

Bring back Marvel Nemesis! That game rocked!
BoomTubeB - 5/1/2014, 12:43 PM
I hope they make an open world game similar to DCUO ! With character creations & leagues!

Really hope Marvel do get some video game deals locked soon! Arkham has shown how great they can be done! Still remember how awful the Iron Man/Hulk games looked, probably best there haven't been any recently...

Be great to see some good Marvel games, Ultimate Alliance was ok, the old Spidey games were fun...really need a good developer, given good time and to not be a movie tie-in

Ninja Theory, CapCom, or Santa Monica SCEA. And none of that 1st-person view or RPG bullshit. 3rd-person hand and slash action/adventure or GTFO

Sony are leading the charge? I thought ASM2 game was meant to be a piece of crap?

Dat voice acting tho..

The guys at Santa Monica SCEA could've made one helluva Thor game.
Ramiel - 5/1/2014, 12:50 PM
Are you sure that Sony is involved with TASM2 video game? Beenox said that they worked with Marvel on the game.
Melkaticox - 5/1/2014, 12:51 PM
Give it to Nintendo. There.

Also shouldn't he be LOOKING for that "perfect developer"? They're not just to knock and say "Hey Jefferson! I'm good. Can I develop that Avengers game?"

@WhiteBolt
Didn't know that, took the line out. Thanks

@Cipher

Yea, the Thor game had potential. I loved the moves that Thor had in the game.

Time to call Rocksteady

I liked a lot of Marvel games. Ultimate Alliance 2, Ultimate Destruction, The Punisher, X-Men Legends, the PS1 Spidey (still the best one, as far as I'm concerned), etc..

That's just me, though.

WhiteBolt- Yeah, that really could've been somethin'. You play the Cap one? I actually thought that one was pretty cool.
BritishMonkey - 5/1/2014, 12:54 PM
In the meantime, just make Ultimate Alliance 3.
Or even rerelease the DLC for Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2.
0megaDaGod - 5/1/2014, 12:54 PM
If that's really the case then more power too them, but at the same time y'all gotta get shit going. Just find a good game production company and role the dice with the right people involved.

Beenox has been doing good work with Spidey. Rocksteady has been killing it with Batman

Marvel can find someone if they set their sites correctly. It doesn't even have to be a straight up Avengers game, even something small like GOTG or Daredevil. I'd love a Heroes 4 Hire game made by the guys who did Shaolin Fist

@Melkaticox

Of course they're looking for developers, wouldn't be surprised if there's maybe some stuff in the works already. They just said they'll do it once they find the right partner..
