Jon Meets Kenneth - What Could it Mean?

On his Twitter page yesterday John Favreau (director of Iron Man) stated that he met and had lunch with Kenneth Branagh (director of Thor). I instantly wondered if this could mean anything.

Obviously it could be nothing at all -- just a meeting of the minds, but maybe, just maybe they are synching up on something?!!

If anyone has an insider scoop on this meet and greet, let us know! Post here or in scoops!

Hmmm good find, they might be talking about Avengers, because if Jon Faverau is producing i'm guessin Ken will aswell, I'm thinking Joe Johnstone and Louis Letterrier will produce aswell, it makes sense.
Betty - 10/24/2009, 9:57 AM
They were just having lunch at TGI Fridays. That's all. Nothing romantic going on.
JoshWilding - 10/24/2009, 11:45 AM
Well, they're all going to be working together on The Avengers so I dont think that this meeting is anything too suspicious...!
DDD - 10/24/2009, 11:55 AM

DDD - 10/24/2009, 12:18 PM
Seriously tho' it's going to be great to have all the
great minds behind each separate movie producing and
overseeing the Avengers movie!

It'll get done right for a change!
StephenStrange - 10/24/2009, 12:22 PM
@ Betty LOLOLOL At least none of their hollywood friendos would see them there together. Probably none of them would be caught dead in a TGI Fridays lol!

But anyway He's probably schooling him on a number of topics.
Since Favreau knows the comics and Branaugh doesn't, he could be explaining the massive place Thor occupies in the Marvel U, how important he is, all that.
If KB doesn't know that stuff already, then someone needs to tell him.

And I bet he's giving him pointers on the whole comicbookmovie realism thing. Maybe how to avoid physics foibles and such.
1renaissance1 - 10/24/2009, 12:32 PM
DDD@ yeah cuz having multiple egos in one director chair is a great idea.
ASSASSIN666 - 10/24/2009, 12:36 PM
This was inevitable, they had to meet. All is looking good in the world of Marvel, D.C you got some major catching up to do
DDD - 10/24/2009, 12:55 PM
Irenaissance@, I didn't say have all of them
directing, just overseeing as producers!
Whoever they get to direct The Avengers
is going to really have his hands full with
this movie! Good luck to whomever it is!!!
MarkV - 10/24/2009, 1:53 PM

GUNSMITH - 10/24/2009, 2:53 PM
THEY ALL HAVE TO MEET AND TRADE IDEAS...IF YOU WANT A AVENGERS MOVIE TO MESH WELL YOU NEED INTERACTION...MOVIE HINTS-IRON MAN MEETS FURY-STARK MEETS ROSS-ROSS KNOWLEDGE OF SUPER SOLDIER MESHES WELL WITH CAPTAIN AMERICA-MAYBE THOR'S CONNECTIONS WILL BE THOUGH PORTMANS CONNECTIONS IN THE REAL WORLD..EHH WE'LL SEE
shibazz - 10/24/2009, 2:56 PM
ITs to discuss how to put Tony Stark or Iron Man into the Thor movie to Cameo, if you will.
GUNSMITH - 10/24/2009, 3:02 PM
STARK AND THOR WILL MEET IN A MOVIE THEATER WATCHING SATANS ALLEY.
InTylerWeTrust - 10/24/2009, 3:11 PM
Cool news, hopefully it means Branagh will have some sory of producer credit with Avengers, which is exactly what I want, the directors of the solo films coming on to be producers, executive or not, on the Avengers.

I want them all to be solo-film directors to be producers because I want the Avengers to still keep in line with some of the characterizations of Thor, Iron Man, Cap (not as much for Cap, since his story is a changing to the times one) and have a similar tone that is in line with the directors' adaptations. I mainly want consistency with the movie.

"Jon and Kenneth Plus Avengers", who's with me?
ClintEastwood - 10/24/2009, 3:34 PM
the four directors collab for Avengers
FrankDrebin - 10/24/2009, 4:39 PM
talkin about cameo so that they're all tied up or something...
THEHAWK - 10/24/2009, 4:54 PM
IMDB has Chris Hemsworth listed as appearing in Iron Man 2, so maybe we will see a cameo of Thor? In Iron Man 2?
CorndogBurglar - 10/24/2009, 4:55 PM
is it really so shocking that two creators working on movies that are interlinked met up to discuss the direction of the movies??
StephenStrange - 10/24/2009, 5:08 PM
??? OH SNAP @ THEHAWK is that true man? ha. I knew it. I KNEW Thor would be the cameo in that movie.

Anyway you can't trust IMDB at all but that would be SO GREAT.
StephenStrange - 10/24/2009, 5:34 PM
oh btw lads..

This is off topic and all but I just got back from watching the movie Paranormal Activity. damn that was fun, and bloody intense!

First of all I am not as critical of Blaire Witch style movies as some people. It's kind of lame and unbelievable at times I admit.
But on this movie, once I got over that it was a wild ride indeed.
The audience was interesting.
They must have been having a special rude person's screening because there were all these losers talking out loud and making noise. A group of people that had been shouting over the movie left as soon as the actors started talking about demons.

This elderly couple hobbled in, and then about 45 minutes into the movie they practically RAN out. I'm for real.. it was out of fear. They were like slamming into stuff and jostling around to get out as quick as they could.
It was an interesting trip to the pictures at the very least.
padidas - 10/24/2009, 6:04 PM
Corndogburglar: exactly.
ViperXX79 - 10/24/2009, 6:49 PM
I thought I heard sometime last year that Thor would make an appearance in Irom Man 2.
Banner123 - 10/24/2009, 7:37 PM
Avengers movie doesn't mean shit unless the Hulk is in it. Norton or not, he has to be. Obviously would be cooler if he was, such as with an Ultimates storyline, but Hulk absolutely is a major player in the Avengers story. Perhaps a small Norton cameo at the end of Avengers as Hulk takes off from the team which would subsequently lead into Hulk 2
Upupandaway - 10/24/2009, 7:39 PM
They're putting together DNA samples to clone a baby that will direct the Avengers movie.
InTylerWeTrust - 10/24/2009, 8:23 PM
Multi: Yeah I heard about that, but I also hear Joe Johnston's starting to get a bit jealous!
FORTAPACHE - 10/24/2009, 8:54 PM
tea=where do you stay in britain?I wanna have a pint with you lol!
InTylerWeTrust - 10/24/2009, 9:25 PM
Multi: Yeah don't you remember? Johnston and Favreau used to have a thing together, but they ended it a little while ago. Now Favs has moved on to Branagh, apparently, and Johnston I guess still has residual feelings left over, and now Leterrier is getting jealous because of that, it's all so crazy!
NERO - 10/24/2009, 11:15 PM
The REAL reason behind the Favreau/ Branagh lunch:

Favs: Hey. Kenny?
Branagh: Jon, good to hear from you. How's editing going?
Favs: It's good, it’s good.
Branagh: Yes, well good. I saw Couples Retreat last weekend.
Favs: Oh, you saw that piece of crap, huh?
Branagh: I did. I did.
Favs: Yeah, Vince needed to pay for his boat. I needed a vacation, so what the hell, you know.
Branagh: HA! Why do you think I did Harry Potter.
Favs: What do you say I take you to lunch to make up for it?
Branagh: Sure, sure.
Favs: You know what'd be funny?
Branagh: What's that?
Favs: We go to lunch and then check the fanboy sites afterward to see the comic geeks go ape shit thinking we were plotting crossover shit with Thor and Iron Man. I’ll even Tweet it up to stir the pot.
Branagh: HAHA!!! They wouldn't.
Favs: Are you kidding? They'll go nuts. Trust me I'm old hat at this stuff, baby. They'll shit their cornflakes, seriously.
Branagh: Oh, Jon. You're so money.
Favs: You know it.
Vafrous - 10/25/2009, 1:44 AM
All I want to see is Hawkeye...
CrashTest - 10/25/2009, 7:43 AM
I think Hawkeye's would look like garbage if they put him in the Avengers! thats if they use that whack ass purple suit.

CorndogBurglar - 10/25/2009, 8:17 AM
@ multi

i heard it was under the bleachers!!!!

@ tea

LOL

@ mulder

so paranormal activity is worth seeing then?? i'm like you, i don't mind the "shaky cam" style movies at all. blair witch was an awful movie, but only because the movie sucked, not because of the camera. and i personally LOVED cloverfield, and didn't mind quarantine too much either!

and for the loud people in the theatre, i know what you mean. me and my girlfriend went to see drag me to hell when it was in theatres, and we had to walk out because of people screaming at the top of their lungs every 5 minutes for things that weren't scary at all. these people wouldn't scream that loud if their own lives were actually in danger. its so irritating. i was mad, because we only got about 30 minutes into it, and i was REALLY enjoying it! (drag me to hell that is) now i have to wait for it on dvd.
StephenStrange - 10/25/2009, 9:46 AM
@CDB: I liked Cloverfield too. I would have preferred to see more of the monster, though. Even renting it and pausing the good stuff didn't satisfy that jones lol

Yeah since I now know you don't mind the shaky cam thing I can say with confidence that you would at least find it interesting. There were some shocks and spooky stuff, but the fun of this one is the way the tension builds. It keeps you on this ultra alert buzz thing.. hyper vigilant maybe?

Ah the theater... as much as I go, (two or three times a month) you would think I would be used to obtuse, discourteous a-holes. But no, it still bothers me. lulz

I put Drag Me to Hell on my Netflix que. lol I didn't even realize it was Raimi's until after it was already out of theaters. Glad to hear a thumbs up on it from a fellow movie lover !!
KillerOfSaints - 10/25/2009, 12:15 PM
i still think john favreau is on here as name JohnF
CorndogBurglar - 10/26/2009, 9:16 AM
@ crashtest

CorndogBurglar - 10/26/2009, 9:44 AM
@ bropous

i thought iron man and dark knight did that already. i can't see thor being better than those two, even if i would love it if it were!
HelaGood - 10/26/2009, 12:36 PM
