In a recent interview with Movieweb.com, Timothy Olyphant discusses his work on "The Crazies," his new television show "Justified," which airs on FX beginning this month and mosti importantly...Flash Gordon!

Breack Eisner, who just released "The Crazies" remake, which starred Olyphant, will be working on a reboot of the ever popular "Flash Gordon" for his next project. This from the article:

"We followed up by asking him if he had possibly talked with Eisner about playing Flash Gordon, as the actor would make a great Flash! The actor simply smiled and said, 'Thanks I appreciate that,' indicating that he might be up for the role. Is that a character that you would be interested in playing, we asked Olyphant? 'Does it pay?' he replied. That's something he'll have to take up with Eisner."

Olyphant also discusses a sequel to the some-what successful "The Crazies" film as well as the possibilty of bring his hit series "Deadwood" back tot he screen. Click the link for more of the article.

ecksmanfan: Typically, when actors dodge the subject like he did, they are hiding something. I think I like this idea. Olyphant is a good actor and getting better with each project. What do you think?

I'll bite. They certainly could do a lot worsen than this guy.
supermarioworldE - 3/9/2010, 11:56 AM
I wouldn't mind, but I'm certainly more interested in a Flash movie than a Flash Gordon movie.
LEEE777 - 3/9/2010, 12:05 PM
Lmao!!!! : D

Um no, put him in a SPIDEY movie!!

(P.S. Thats not the EDDIE BROCK VENOM before anyone starts.... its SCORPION!!!)

; P

FLASH! AAAAAAAHHHHHH-AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Savior of the Universe!
thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 12:22 PM
He's certainly better than the usual pretty boys whom people seem to like to through around. Personally though, he still seems to young, Flash is an older guy. When thinking of Flash Gordon I sort of think of Bret Farve...only he can't act. But it should be someone like that.
tazmaniak - 3/9/2010, 12:31 PM
I have to disagree with you, thwhtGuardian.Flash Gordon is generally portrayed as a man in his mid to late 20s.The only time I've seen him older is in Defenders of the Earth.Tim Olyphant almost 42, so he wouldn't be too young for the role.If anything, he;s a good 10 years too old.

Anyway, he is a good actor.I really liked him in Deadwood.Don't know if he's right for this character, though.

Anyone remember HITMAN???????????

: p

Can't see him as a main lead of any film.

Though i'm not saying he shouldn't get the chance!
WulfComicFan - 3/9/2010, 3:24 PM
As long as he leaves all the Hitman acting way the hell away from anything he does ever again, I think he could pull it off, remember him in The Girl Next Door?
HelaGood - 3/9/2010, 3:53 PM
hitman was awful thanks to him! and in die hard he played a whiney little bad guy. no thanks.
NotoriousCAB - 3/9/2010, 4:07 PM
Looks like Seacrest

thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 5:18 PM

Does that look like a guy in his mid 20's to anyone?
bizarro - 3/9/2010, 5:40 PM
ASHTON KUTCHER SHOULD PLAY FLASH GORDON
thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 5:56 PM
I hate the way you think Bizarro! Ashton Kutcher is the best candidate for Flash Gordon. No other actor is worse for this role than he is!
Flash Gordon will be the worst movie ever!

Are we okay with a brunette Flash? Just asking. I can't find any photos of Olyphant as a blonde, which typically means that he isn't going to look good in blonde hair. He doesn't appear to have the right coloring to pull of that look.
LordGarth - 3/9/2010, 6:50 PM
As much as I hate to say it, I think Matthew McCounaghey(sp?) would be a decent choice...He has the look. And Christopher Plummer as Ming...Oh and Rachel McAdams as Dale Arden. Ahh, just forget the whole thing!
thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 6:56 PM
This is my choice for Flash

I think the resemblance is uncanny.
Ranger14 - 3/9/2010, 7:31 PM
Buster Crabbe was 28 when he played in the original serial.
thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 9:37 PM
Buster Crabbe was great, but he didn't exactly look his age:

Speaking of good old Buster Crabbe, I wounder how he'd be accepted today. We rag on Ryan Reyolds for being everything, even though he's really only portrayed Hannibal King( a minor character) Dead pool(if can even call it that) and now GL...but Buster Crabbe really was everything back in the day; he played Buck Rogers, Tarzan and Flash Gordon. That'd be like playing Superman, Batman and Spider-man today, can you imagine the back lash he'd get?
juggy4711 - 3/9/2010, 9:52 PM
Frick Flash Gordon. I would kill for a movie to finish Deadwood. Fricking HBO gives us seven fricking seasons of formulaic, derivative ganster bs but bails out on the two really original interesting series they have. I remember when HBO accuired rights to Preacher. My thoughts were "frick ya only a premium cable series could do it justice", then I remembered Carnivale and
Deadwood and thought "crap we'll get two seasons and they will cancel it".
thwhtGuardian - 3/9/2010, 10:00 PM
It's a commercial business Juggy. Deadwood and Carnivale, like most period pieces, cost a shit ton to make so I for one was not surprised they didn't last long.

Also, although Carnivale had good ratings in the first season it lost nearly all of them in the second. Poor ratings+big budget=cancellation.

Tim Olyphant as Flash**takes break to play the tune on his mediaplayer** ....oh F********CK-no. No thank you, please. Flash is unfortunately 100 white and looks that way, but doesn't act all that white (real sweet-heart), is between the age of 26 to 34, is at least six feet tall, and is a former pro athlete. In the original story he was an Olympic swimmer or something, while in the 1970's-80's movie he was a pro football player.
thwhtGuardian - 3/10/2010, 12:35 AM
He was a polo player originally...I know, weird.
Buster Crabbe, the guy who played him first, was an Olympic athlete though so maybe that's what you're remembering.
t800 - 3/10/2010, 4:16 AM
only flash not fit for flash gordon i think,,,,,,,,,
hellparadiso - 3/10/2010, 2:49 PM
juggy - ain't it a bee-atch? HBO would have been the perfect venue for Preacher, and I was on freaking pins and needles waiting to hear what was going to happen with that...then...pft. Nothing.

But even HBO is allowed to fail every now and then.

Also, thwht: I AGREE WITH YOUR SUGGESTION.
bropous - 3/11/2010, 9:52 AM
A Flash Gordon movie does absolutely NOTHING for me.
wavehunter - 3/15/2010, 8:57 PM
The Flash Gordon that came out in 1979-1980 was so bad (even though it had its moments). But everytime its on I have to watch....like a train wreak.
ClintEastwood - 4/5/2010, 3:08 PM
Justified is pretty good.
soda9 - 10/24/2010, 12:02 PM
@LEEE
Timothy Olyphant would be awesome as Eddie Brock/Venom also!!
