Here is something that Mattel probably didn't want making the rounds. This prototype was found on eBay from a user in China. No doubt the Chinese production facility had a worker sneak some out and sold them to a lucky customer. While it isn't a painted piece, it does give us a look at the sculpt and what it will look like.

You can expect to start seeing these coming to stores in the Spring. If you just can't wait, do an eBay search and prepare to pay ridiculous prices for it.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

NICE! This has been my most anticipated film since it was first announced
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/22/2012, 5:31 AM
this is going to be worth 1000s in the future.
LP4 - 11/22/2012, 5:31 AM
Hopefully we can get some spoilers out of these figures in the coming days
SteveRogersSon - 11/22/2012, 5:35 AM
Looks kinda meh
JohnWilbanks - 11/22/2012, 5:37 AM
I can't tell, but is there any knee articulation in that image that you can see?
silverdog - 11/22/2012, 5:37 AM
needs more of that chicken skin texture....
Funsize - 11/22/2012, 5:38 AM
What?? O.o
Vapes - 11/22/2012, 5:43 AM
Blah, flippin' texture.

At least there's a cloth cape.
darkmetal - 11/22/2012, 5:54 AM
Someone over there finally got smart. I hope more of those guys over there working slave labor for that crap follow and burn every company thats taking advantage of other countries with such wages.
Doubt that sculpt makes the final cut. Some parts of it are deformed causing it to lean.
JohnWilbanks - 11/22/2012, 5:57 AM
@darkmetal, if it has made it that far, then that is the final. It has probably already been painted and packaged as well waiting for that Spring release...
Ancar - 11/22/2012, 5:59 AM
Looks like shittte!!!
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 6:07 AM
My priority? Hot Toys Man of Steel (Supes, Zod, Jor-El), 1:4 scale Man of Steel Premium format, and maybe Mattel's Movie Masters MoS. Here's to awesome MoS colectibles ;D
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 6:08 AM
@Froggy: nice one man! But you forget to colorize his shoulder cape?
DrRockso - 11/22/2012, 6:11 AM
Hey froggy, for shits and giggles, throw some briefs on him. Por favor?
DrRockso - 11/22/2012, 6:14 AM
And a yellow belt
JohnWilbanks - 11/22/2012, 6:18 AM
@Froggy awesome work!
sciencefriction - 11/22/2012, 6:19 AM
Blah, I'm impressed Mattel managed to cut so much articulation from what looks like a 6" figure. Why bother with figures anymore, the brief golden period is over. Though I'll admit the head sculpt is pretty solid for Mattel, they always seem to drop the ball when it comes to doing likeness' of actors.
thalidomide - 11/22/2012, 6:26 AM
I didn't buy any Superman Returns action figures because I didn't see any good ones, hopefully this one will be better.
XavierLehnsherr - 11/22/2012, 6:37 AM
It's missing something...

While its nice hes not wearing briefs-outerwear anymore, the bulging crotch (Schumacher Style)thing needs to go too. Its possible that the costume wouldve looked better with red pants similar to the 90's Superboy design.
The design with blue pants just looks like he forgot to pack his briefs.
RedeyeJedi - 11/22/2012, 6:53 AM
Nice perm Supes!
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 6:57 AM
Darkmetal: do spidey forgot to pack his briefs too? Just wondering :0
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 6:58 AM
Lets add wolvie and cyclops and bats while we're at it, eh?
Super12 - 11/22/2012, 6:59 AM
I don't remember Superman being that.........albino.

Lol jk. Great touch up too, Froggy!
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 11/22/2012, 7:06 AM
I love what @froggy did, [frick]ing shway. lol, glad those red panties are gone.

sups92 - 11/22/2012, 7:11 AM
I wish Mattel would give their figures more articulation like Hasbro does.
Dev7 - 11/22/2012, 7:19 AM
Looks FUGLY!
SteveRogersSon - 11/22/2012, 7:20 AM
agreed Nerdicon

Shit toy
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 7:20 AM
Fyi @thenerdicon: i do love TASM costume especially the color tone, but wish the stripes in his legs are gone, other than that, fine by me :). But i think it's a bit different since the texture in MoS costume is different from Spideys blue part, not to mention the red section of Spidey's TASM costume feels rubbery in look and texture.
SmellofDuty - 11/22/2012, 7:24 AM
@Froggy

Great job man! That's 100x better than what I could do!
blackster - 11/22/2012, 7:27 AM
looks a little crap
SAT - 11/22/2012, 7:41 AM
@thenerdicon EXACTLY!
I do think the texure is a little funky, but I still really like it!

I was wonderndering why he had blonde hair, then I realized it was only a prototype and felt stupid.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/22/2012, 8:08 AM
Expected from Mattel. Hopefully we will get a more articulated, detailed figure from the Movie Masters Line.

In my eyes, the suit wasn't a problem, the way the suit was filled was. Spider-man looked like he just got out of a starvation camp.
rbfn04 - 11/22/2012, 8:24 AM
Still grinds my gears that they missed the mark on this. Texture, color, gauntlets, weird black lines, daddy's underalls...

Could've been a great redisigned. even withou the red trunks (tho I dont'n see a problem with them)
RobertKent - 11/22/2012, 8:26 AM
Looks like the same arms from the superman returns figure except for the wrist bands
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/22/2012, 8:27 AM
TheNerdicon
Well that's a shame. I didn't think that.
jimoakley666 - 11/22/2012, 8:36 AM
...with the thing no action figure can be without; wank hands.
XavierLehnsherr - 11/22/2012, 8:54 AM
Robin's is biggest.

@FROGGY
Nice work!
thosemortalmen - 11/22/2012, 9:24 AM
@DangerStranger: nope this Supes doesn't have any collar on it.

@rfbn04: can't please everyone pal. But, if it suits with the whole concept that they try to tell i here, then that will be adequate. Of course those thing wont kill the enjoyment of seeing the latest adaptation of Supes in modern cinema, just like cap's helmet dont kill the enjoyment of seeing Avengers. :)
LordHuck - 11/22/2012, 10:19 AM
Great redesign of the costume.

This isn't 6 inch. Looks like 4 inch or 5 to me.

Note the open hands on a Superman figure. That generally means lots of accessories come with this fig. There is really no other reason to give a punching character like supes two open hands.
Zordan - 11/22/2012, 10:22 AM
dude is ripped lol
darkmetal - 11/22/2012, 11:50 AM
@thosemortalmen Im just saying that the look of the new Superman simply looks like Superman simply removed the briefs and it also has created attention to his crotch area for that reason and because of the obvious bulge.

Spider-Man doesnt look that way because he never wore his undies like a retard.
Theres stuff all over the net about it. This will be a joke on various shows when it hits, Cavill will be asked about it and it feeds into the Superheroes look gay thing.
Im not trying to bash the film but Singer made Supes look gay and this look is even more gay.

For a moment, imagine what would happen if we lived in a world where theres no comics, no Superhero mythology and a Superman appears looking like that.
If people hate on Pattinson, Welling, and other male celebs because chicks dig them and guys claim they look gay, those same guys who would hate a superhero that looks like that.
TV news analysts would all be discussing his desire to draw attention to his crotch.
In other words, Supes would be freaking crazy to look like that and would look like a Supersexfreak. Super-Gimp.
Now like I said IM NOT BASHING THE FILM, just saying they couldve done without that sort of attention.
Nolan titles this 'MAN OF STEEL' then they go with the Schumacher bulge so maybe Nolan or Snyder or both are turned on by Superman.
Jollem - 11/22/2012, 12:10 PM
i think the superman suit looks great. the figure, on the other hand, looks slightly standardly chincy
CharacterAssassin - 11/22/2012, 12:25 PM
Hittin eBay with super lead. Take note: Don't lick on toy.
gmckoy - 11/22/2012, 12:33 PM
is it just me or does that action figure look like michael shannon as zod lol
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 11/22/2012, 12:51 PM
@Froggy, nice coloring. Gives us an idea of what the finished product may look like.
