'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark' is back on track, says Alan Cumming!

Alan Cumming has told the LA Times that the Spider-Man themed musical is indeed back on track.
The actor, who is scheduled to play the villainous Green Goblin, yesterday sat down in an interview with the Los Angeles Times and confirmed that the musical might just be on the way.

Cumming shared his concern with fans when the musical was put on hiatus over the summer after it reportedly ran out of money, a problem that stirred up its share of curiosity given the production's rumored $40 million price tag.

"How can you run out of money? You don't imagine that happening with a huge blockbuster like this. It was all very shocking, but I suppose it all adds to the legend of the show," said Cumming.

"It's a really good script," Cumming said. "It's potentially huge cheese, and it's really kind of not cheese at all."

Even the gay dude playing the Green Goblin says there's a potentially fatal amount of cheese in this thing.

i think there's our final warning flare right there - somebody kidnap Bono and do horrible things to plants in front of him until this thing finally dies.

DISNEY BACKING..

I loved Alan as Nightcrawler, the guy could play anything and make it great, but again I ask the question: Why the hell are they even making a Spiderman musical? Honestly, was the dancing scene not one of the most hated things in Spiderman 3? Who thinks more of that, plus singing, is anything that fans are going to want see? The average theatergoer is going to think a Spiderman musical is too low brow to waste money on, and the average comic fan is not going to see Spiderman sing while hanging upside down about his longing for MJ. Who is their target audience? It just sounds like someone thought of a really lame way to waste $40 mil.

I wouldn't go see this festering pile of shit, even if they offered to brutalize Brett Ratner in the second act.

parascythe - 9/25/2009, 6:49 AM
*rolling eyes*

it disgusts me that they want to gay up every good thing in this world (no offense to the gays) but seriously, BROADWAY SPIDEY???

Hugh Jackman has done enough damage for the entire industry (on broadway, not on film) because Wolverine is my obsession (that and X-men/X-force, of course).
