A user on the SHH Forums has posted more pictures from the special features on the Iron Man 2 DVD and blu-ray, this time confirming that the Asian man who met with Whiplash in the movie was a member of the Ten Rings (the shadowy organisation that kidnapped Tony Stark in the first movie) as well as hinting at "Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S" which in the comic books was a scientific base that researched alternative forms of energy that has also been used as a prison for super-powered individuals.

And here is a piece of concept art that is currently circulating online showing what appears to be a slightly different ending to Iron Man 2!

In the highly-anticipated sequel, Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, in a thrill-a-minute story filled with explosive action, new suits and powerful new villains. The phenomenal cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson as the seductive Black Widow, Mickey Rourke as the vengeful Whiplash, as well as Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson.

The DVD & Blu-Ray editions of Iron Man 2 is set to be released on September 28th in the US and on October 25th in the UK.

MassExecutions - 9/23/2010, 9:18 AM
Rock and Roll. They can use Project Pegasus for all kinds of plot points in future movies. Hopefully Favreau realizes how disappointed fans will be if the Mandarin isn't in the third one and will continue with the Ten Rings concept.

Hey, check out my first editorial! Kind of a weird topic, but I tried to make it a fun read.

@ dynamo

LEEE just hates that ANYTHING from the Ultimate universe is being used in these movies. So, since SLJ was the basis of Ultimate Fury in the comics, he hates that he's Fury in the movies.

and he expresses that hatred EVERY...CHANCE...HE ...GETS. bless him, lol.

I would have rather had 616 Fury too, but it actually makes sense, considering SLJ is the PERFECT Ultimate Fury.

Dynamo @ Heh heh heh...

Brazil @ Hey I've got nothing against SAM, just h8 the character and what Corndog said!

Good stuff @ CORN 'cept the perfect bit, he totally sucked in IRON MAN II! ; D

Its just an opinion I don't like mixing, it takes you away from the movie, well for me anyway and it just loses the magic! I just don't enjoy watered down photo copied characters thats all.

Its like having a RED SON SUPERMAN in the JLA movie! : P

Ya just don't!

SPIDER @ Gr8 stuff lol! ; p

They should have made it more obvious that that guy was part of the Ten Rings, as most members of the audience would have missed it, making it a worthless easter egg really! Hell, I'm pretty sure that I only realised who he was because I read the novelisation of Iron Man 2 beforehand!

Regardless, it's great to see all these hints to the Marvel Universe! I just hope we get to see some sort of supervillain prison in The Avengers! Whether it's "Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S", the Raft or even the Triskelion...it would open up a pile of new storylines for the future! (and would mean not having to kill off every single villain at the end of the movies!)

@ CorndogBurglar

I think Samuel L. Jackson embodies that character perfectly. He commands respect and obviously has leadership qualities. That's Nick Fury and he's great at it. People should just accept it and move on.

Oh I just hope the Mandarin is in the next one

@ leee777

sagekilz - 9/23/2010, 9:57 AM

MassExecutions - 9/23/2010, 10:11 AM

A big +1 for Josh W and getting comic book movies where villians aren't killed at the end.

I can't stand the notion that the villian must die at the end. It's fitting in some instances, but not when you're dealing with comic book baddies that are nearly as important as the heroes they battle and often more interesting.

Just look at the carnage in the Spiderman movies. Three movies and a wake of villians taking dirt naps. Oh, I forgot, they'll just reboot and pretend it all didn't happen. Maybe if they kept their bad guys alive in the first place, they wouldn't have to reboot.

If only Marvel had control of all of their movie properties. Now that would be awesome.
Hawksblueyes - 9/23/2010, 11:17 AM
Good stuff Josh. All these Ten Rings references are a moot point if Favs doesn't include The Mandarin in IM3.

I have said this exact same thing many times before. In short, I just think some movies would have potential to be even better if they didn't follow the exact same villain dying at the end formula. More character development, more tension, more interesting. Plus, you get to see a good villain more. Possibly introduce a secondary villain as well.
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 9/23/2010, 1:46 PM
I am so buying that movie
