Mickey Rourke Has No Plans To Ever Watch Iron Man 2!

When asked whether or not he's watched the movie yet, the actor gave a fairly brief response that you've just got to check out for yourself...

"No," Rourke told MTV News when asked if he'd seen the movie he starred as Whiplash in yet.

"I like doing 'em. I don't give a [frick] about watching my own stuff."

What do you guys think about this? Are you bothered that Rourke seemingly has no interest in checking out the movie or were you happy enough with his performance that you also don't give a [frick]? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place! :)

Iron Man 2 is out now to buy on DVD/Blu-Ray and will be released in the UK on October 25th!

lol well, he was the best thing on Iron Man 2 anyway.
ScarletSpidey - 10/7/2010, 9:13 AM
That's not a knock towards the film. He said himself "...my own stuff." There are a lot of actors that don't like to watch their own movies, Johnny Depp has said that he doesn't either.
skullboy - 10/7/2010, 9:14 AM
I don't blame him.
EdGross - 10/7/2010, 9:18 AM
Most actors don't enjoy watching themselves.
stopdropandroll - 10/7/2010, 9:18 AM
No, I don't see a problem.

I actually feel sorry for the actors/director who have to attend the premiere of their movies over and over again, in the countries the film opens. They have to watch the same film a dozen times.
Matador - 10/7/2010, 9:18 AM
Was it me or did he look the same in Expendables like he did in Ironman 2. All he did was change his voice.
marvel72 - 10/7/2010, 9:18 AM
its not that bad,its watchable.
TurdFergunson - 10/7/2010, 9:20 AM
I agree with him. I dont even like looking at myself on video or even in pictures sometimes. I just dont like the sound of my own voice on camera. So ya, I wouldn't watch either.
screams - 10/7/2010, 9:20 AM
I don't know if I would want to watch myself on a giant screen.
deadrob21 - 10/7/2010, 9:22 AM
true i mean at least he was honest about it, i mean would he have to sit and watch the wrestler if he didnt want to even tho he was in it
WakeUp - 10/7/2010, 9:24 AM
I don't like the way my own voice sounds on video either...lol
JoshWilding - 10/7/2010, 9:24 AM
I completely get where he's coming from! I too feel pretty self-conscious when watching myself on camera and can't really imagine what it would be like to see myself giving a performance on the big screen...curiosity might get the better of me though so I'm surprised he has no interest! Would he have not seen it at the premiere!?
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 10/7/2010, 9:26 AM
Out on my birthday! Even if I get sod all I can go and buy this so I'm sure to have some entertainment!
TheJester - 10/7/2010, 9:34 AM
He was way too old for the part.
JohnnyKrypton - 10/7/2010, 9:46 AM
I think it's pretty common; some actors just get self-conscious watching themselves act. I know Harrison Ford hates watching his own movies

@Josh,
A lot of times stars show up at the premier/red carpet and then slip out when the film starts
Shaman - 10/7/2010, 9:57 AM
I could watch me all night long. It's why i always film myself having sex. The camera films and is uploaded directly to my projector that shoots my ass on the wall of my bedroom, while i'm doing it. Cause mirror's just don't do it for me.
KentAllard - 10/7/2010, 9:58 AM
Actually, I’ve seen interviews with Mickey before where he says that: He likes working, he likes acting, and he likes getting paid. But the rest of the process of a film being made has nothing to do with him, so he doesn’t even think about it. Watch the so-called “Almost Commentary” on Angel Heart…
comicb00kguy - 10/7/2010, 10:02 AM
A lot of actors don't like watching their own performances. I don't mind someone being honest about that.
elcaballerooscuro92 - 10/7/2010, 10:04 AM
free country, and free will
redrum010 - 10/7/2010, 10:36 AM
He must have heard how bad his character was.

@Arminies

Hahahah oohhh man, that's funny. I bet you were one of the fans crying out for easter eggs and more after credits scenes after you saw Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Then there were 2 scenes in Iron Man 2 which took about a total FIVE MINUTES out of the entire film, and that makes it suck? I don't even remember any references to the Avengers outside that 5 minute span.

You should re-evaluate your "opinions" and don't blindly follow or copy what someone else says without actually thinking about it for yourself. That statement makes no sense at all.
ckal - 10/7/2010, 10:41 AM
Like everybody else said; a lot of actors don't like to watch their own films.
Sparrowsabre7 - 10/7/2010, 10:41 AM
A lot of actors don't watch their own stuff for one reason or another, either they're embarassed watching themselves or in Johnny Depp's case, it's because they want to preserve the memories of making the film rather than seeing it. The tactile experience of making it mattered moreto them.

It can come off as a bit douchebaggy sounding though.
JaySchluffy - 10/7/2010, 10:42 AM
Well... least the guys honest.
BmanHall - 10/7/2010, 10:51 AM
Not surprising. There are a lot of actors who don't watch their own movies.
YourMomNaked - 10/7/2010, 10:54 AM
I wouldn't watch IM2 a 2nd time.
WillyTractor - 10/7/2010, 10:55 AM
irom man 2 was rubbish, i dont blame him one bit
Shaman - 10/7/2010, 11:01 AM
Come on, Gusto. That was a good film! It even had Gemma Arterton in it for the love of all that is holy and wet!!!
marvelguy - 10/7/2010, 11:04 AM
Lots of actors don't like to watch themselves. It's probably accentuated by his new found popularity, thus he's full of himself again. It was entertaining, yet still a re-hash of sorts.
the1egend1ives - 10/7/2010, 11:14 AM
@ckal

VERY well said. I applaud you good sir.
CaptainQuirk - 10/7/2010, 11:16 AM
Can't blame him.
the1egend1ives - 10/7/2010, 11:24 AM
Every time I watch a recording of one of my plays, I keep thinking to myself, "God what a sh!tty actor I am," even after everyone else tells me how good I was. I can totally relate to how Mickey Rourke feels.
Runefyst - 10/7/2010, 11:24 AM
Wow, there's a whole lot've people hatin' on IM2 in here. I thought it was pretty decent, liked it just a little less than the first.

But I suppose a large amount of people's standards on this site are so high that it's to the point now where "If it's not done perfectly, it automatically sucks ass."

People need to back off the nitpicking sometimes.

As for Rourke, if he doesn't watch his own stuff, that's cool, probably a lot've actors that don't.
Creature - 10/7/2010, 11:32 AM
@Arminies:
There isn't much Avengers stuff, but concerning Iron Man and his colleagues. Black Widow was originally in Iron Man comics, and a lot of the other things belong to the plot. I agree that Marvel must run damage control on so many references/cast members for oversaturation as of 2012, but there was a minimum of Avengers stuff.

I didn't like the movie that much but it was watachable. Probably didn't like it as much because of the predesscesscor kicking it's ass but whatever. It's understandable to not watch the movie once let alone see it twice.
LEEE777 - 10/7/2010, 11:52 AM
Yeah... don't blame him... the movie was average... still, we've still got IRON MAN I!

Hopefully IRON MAN 3 will blow that away and be AWESOME!

Funny that ROURKE had the same hair and style in 'EXPENDABLES' that made me chuckle! : P

IRON MAN 3 : ARMOR WARS ftw!

Oh yeah... check out a SUPERMAN CASTING, no its not for the new movie lol!

Click click = KENT & LANE TV CASTING!

HULK2099 - 10/7/2010, 12:50 PM
cool ass guy
strilfe - 10/7/2010, 1:09 PM
I only care for the product. For example, Ewan Mac Gregor is a great actor, performed a great Kenobi... but is as stupid as a dog smoking pod.
foxfan - 10/7/2010, 1:18 PM
I think IM2 is a very good movie. My only problem with it was that the final battle was predictable and a little lame. The stuff about Tony's self-destructive behavior and wrestling with his legacy was well done, as were the supporting characters. Yeah, for me it basically just whiffed with the final battle.
patriautism - 10/7/2010, 1:24 PM
Mickey Rourke is the definitive Hollywood bada**.
Anyway, I don't think I would want to watch something I acted in, it would hard not to just watch/critique yourself.
BLADE4040 - 10/7/2010, 1:39 PM
I dont see the problem it doesnt
have anything to do with his performance
which I thought was good....so who cares
that he doesnt care.
flames809 - 10/7/2010, 2:03 PM
lol funny guy, he should watch the movie is the best ironman out of 1 and 2
akthunder - 10/7/2010, 2:22 PM
Mickey Rourke is a bad ass :)
jjmeylar - 10/7/2010, 3:36 PM
He's probably the kind of guy who would end up pointing out small faults in his stuff and not get to enjoy the film. I mean: I love his work, but you can respect the guy for not watching his own stuff.
Acerimmer1 - 10/7/2010, 3:42 PM
On Jonathon Ross he said it was because He had strong opinions and He was a perfectionist. Thought he would end up complaining to the director.
Bandrews1 - 10/7/2010, 3:49 PM
I don't blame the guy.
droopy1317 - 10/7/2010, 4:20 PM
i dont give a [frick] either, just keep giving us good movies
TheDurkinKnight - 10/7/2010, 4:25 PM
good call mickey...it SUCKED!!
Vital - 10/7/2010, 4:32 PM
I think this is the first topic I have ever seen people actually defend somebody. I'm amazed. Was there some type of group hug seminar earlier today that I'm unaware of? If you watch the video closely, he kinda seems like an arrogant dick, but then adds the little 'my stuff' at the end cause he caught himself saying something that didn't sound nice to the ears lol. Oh well, I don't hate the guy or anything but he seems so blah about stuff it's kinda hard to like him.
RedSkullGeezer - 10/7/2010, 6:04 PM
Chad..well I have acted for a small budget film for a friend of mine(film festival stuff)...and I can understand how he would not want to watch his films...I sorta get self conscience about making my marks...my enunciation...and silly stuff like that...but I agree Micky is an a**hole in my book...he got lucky with Sin City...and that movie where he played the wrestler is vastly over-rated in my book.
GrayFox1025 - 10/7/2010, 6:26 PM
I can totally understand him having no desires to see it. Much like Johnny Depp refuses to see his own stuff, some ppl are just to critical of themselves n will feel they can do better than the performance that was filmed. To me, watching your own movies you starred in is a total case of narcism, its like a band only listening to the music they write.
