An article over at Vulture (a source known to be fairly reliable) have posted a story on Blake Lively and her career, and I couldnt help but spot what both a Hollywood manager and agent had to say when asked about her role in Warner Bros' Green Lantern as well as an interesting bit of info mentioned by the site themselves.

And both are also quick to say that should the forthcoming Green Lantern flop (and it's been a troubled production), it won't hurt Lively much. Says the manager, "Whatever the mistakes were with Green Lantern, she needs to not react to them and do an indie movie just because a big superhero movie didn't work. It's always about the role and the director. The hotter the person, the easier it is, and she's very hot right now." The agent adds, "Even though Green Lantern is supposed to be terrible, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to do extremely well and enhance her foreign value. Clash of the Titans was horrendous, but it didn’t slow down Sam Worthington any."

While I don't think it's worth reading too much into this, I still think it's interesting to note what the insider has to say about it being a "terrible" movie. Despite some fans not being too happy with the CGI on display in the trailer, the reaction seems to have been a positive one for the most part, making me wonder what caused them to make such a claim. Add in Vulture's mention of it being a troubled production, and Green Lantern might not be the hit everyone is expecting! Be sure to share your thoughts on this in the usual place!

Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this year!

ha, did you hear the one line she "acted" in the trailer?
i hope it doesn't happen, but if anything she's the worst part in the movie
dnno1 - 1/17/2011, 11:08 AM
The only trouble with production that I am aware of that was documented was with the Mattel toy line that came with the ring. Apparently there were so many orders that they couldn't keep up with production.

Has this person seen the final cut of the film and everything in it? I found this very strange, on a very peculiar level.
"Whatever the mistakes were with Green Lantern, she needs to not react to them and do an indie movie just because a big superhero movie didn't work. It's always about the role and the director. The hotter the person, the easier it is, and she's very hot right now." - I'd agree on the last bit but the "mistakes" part I dont get. How could the manager see the end product, or even seen the postpro? No one has seen the post-production except a very certain few, which I bet is not exactly these agents? And they have especially not seen the end result.

The agent adds, "Even though Green Lantern is supposed to be terrible, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to do extremely well and enhance her foreign value. Clash of the Titans was horrendous, but it didn’t slow down Sam Worthington any." - I find this comment even more strange. Whatever this article means it will probably get a response. My guess is that this is regular pr bs.
I call really smelly cheese on this one.

And I totally agree with your comment JoshW!

BMP!

I call bs. She's a terrible actress. I'll reserve judgment until I see the film.
SeaSerpentine - 1/17/2011, 11:11 AM
Sam who?
halik - 1/17/2011, 11:13 AM
This doesn't surprise me at all. The dialogue and acting in this trailer was possibly the worst I've ever seen. Green Lantern is my favorite superhero, but while Ryan Reynolds looks the part I've seen many of his films and didn't think his acting was anything special. I'll wait to see the Rotten Tomato before I go and pay to see this, which sucks, but movies aren't cheap and this just looked terrible to me.
jimdrums - 1/17/2011, 11:14 AM
I have to see the movie for myself before I can make a judgement call, critics are not always accurate.......Im looking forard to a great movie about my favorite hero of all time
halik - 1/17/2011, 11:14 AM
I'm not trying to start a fight or anything but in no way is RR one of the most sought after actors.
Coon - 1/17/2011, 11:14 AM
This movie could be another G.I. Joe. It could be even worse if Ryan Reynolds does what he did in Blade Trinity, trying to end every decent line with some dumbass joke.
DaenerysTargaryen - 1/17/2011, 11:15 AM
Ouch

Hey guys, go read my article. The Spider-Man reboot might be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

"Is the Spider-Man Reboot A Part Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe?"
ecksmanfan - 1/17/2011, 11:16 AM
oh, snap!
halik - 1/17/2011, 11:18 AM
I HATE when fans ignore what is blindly in front of them! I understand were all fans of comics but is no one here a fan of FILM? Just because it's a superhero movie does not mean it is a good movie. In fact most comic book movies are terrible, considering how many are made now. You need to look at movies as a whole not just oh they got two things right. GL trailer had HORRIBLE dialogue and bad acting. I do believe that Sinestro will be excellent but is that really enough to carry the whole movie?
ThaMessenger07 - 1/17/2011, 11:18 AM
Wouldn't surprise me either way.

P.S. Still can't wait to see this.
SCOURGE - 1/17/2011, 11:19 AM
Ithink it is this years iron man 2 and disappoints
xBlaze96x - 1/17/2011, 11:20 AM
If This Movie Is Gonna Be Bad Then I am Bill Bixby
CENSORSHIPSUCKS - 1/17/2011, 11:22 AM
Am I seeing nipple in that picture?
Christuffer - 1/17/2011, 11:27 AM
Why can't we all just get along?

Iron Man 2 was awesome...no disappoints. >:( meanie

If Green Lantern isn't what everybody wants, then it isn't. The movie is what it is, and they tried. Remember, 'terrible' and 'bad' are opinions...they don't carry the same weight and meaning from one person to the other.

One person's "terrible movie (i.e. Grif: 'man vs shit video')" might be another person's "awesomeness".
JoshWilding - 1/17/2011, 11:30 AM
I'm not convinced. A lot of people I've shown the trailer to (non comic book readers by the way) have actually said it looks great, and preffered it to the Thor trailer. While I disagree with that, I think it looks good so far, and doubt it'll have any problems attracting a big audience in June.
xBlaze96x - 1/17/2011, 11:32 AM
Ok People....How Do You Know If It Is Gonna Suck When There Isn't Even A Second Trailer Yet! I Mean Honestly Your Basically Making A Statement On Nothing But The First Trailer The Came Out A Month Or 2 after it entered pre-production.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 1/17/2011, 11:35 AM
@xBlaze96x LOL If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis!
GodzillaKart - 1/17/2011, 11:36 AM
Well, yes Fartman...opinions are subjective...but that doesn't mean all opinions are created equally. Bad taste is not pure myth.

I hope this move is fun. There is nothing in the trailer that makes it look fantastic, but I'll wait and see.
MarvelRox - 1/17/2011, 11:36 AM
Look to my username and know that it was chosen appropriately. DC only has, and will only ever have, Batman. Marvel Rox my sox!
Xandera - 1/17/2011, 11:37 AM
Jeez... that don't sound very good...

@Josh - u make an excellent point... I have shown the trailer to a few people who have never read or heard of GL... and they all said it looked pretty good...

Check out the Fifth Sub-chapter of WHITE FIRE... Darkness Strikes! This sub-chapter contains the first encounter with Darkness!

White Fire

skullboy - 1/17/2011, 11:39 AM
@xBlaze96x, Totally.

Why does this shite happen to DC? Damn biased rumors, that's it. People better start getting their heads outta their arses and wait for the damn movie before they wanna start hating on it.
Lert - 1/17/2011, 11:40 AM
i cant read the damn artical because CBM decided to put a huge Red Baron pizza add over the top[ of it!
HulkPool - 1/17/2011, 11:41 AM
I believe it's unfair to judge the whole movie on just one trailer! Yes they made it a little cheesy but by no means does that make the entire movie suck! I think this film will be EPIC!!!!!!
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 1/17/2011, 11:42 AM
@teabag What website did you get that Pam clips from?
JoshWilding - 1/17/2011, 11:43 AM
Haha, it is unbelievably good to have you back tea! :D
Vital - 1/17/2011, 11:45 AM
See the movie, then judge. I know it's such a hard concept to wrap around.
soberchimera - 1/17/2011, 11:45 AM
since when do we care what a hollywood agent thinks? could we hear what someone with an actual soul has to say?
Highball - 1/17/2011, 11:45 AM
This reminds me of another Green themed superhero movie that was supposed to suck ass. Green Hornet was supposed to be shit remember? Sure it's no Dark Knight... but a piece of shit? So I'll wait and see.
I'm thinking it's her agents that read all the negative comments about her from the teaser and they're trying to cover their bases, defend their client. Cause right now she *seems* like the worst thing about the movie, worse than the CG: that we all agree on I think. But again I'll wait and see cause it's all out of context.
@ halik, I don't think the right word is ignorance if I may be so bold... I think the key word here is *hope*, Green Lantern fans hope that it is a good movie. We aren't ignorant to the bad CGI, the subpar acting. I myself can attest that there are things that bug me about the teaser, but there are things that bug me about every goddam trailer. I'm just really hoping for a good movie experience... you know, kinda like we all hoped George Lucas would pull it together by episode III.
ceramyctyle - 1/17/2011, 11:46 AM
I call BS on this one. Usually if a production is troubled, you'll hear about it during filming. Though I could be wrong, I call BS on this article.
Frogman - 1/17/2011, 11:49 AM
how can they call it a flop? they have no idea how much money it'll bring in.
Urban8er - 1/17/2011, 11:49 AM
Tea I'm so happy your back :D

That's cause this movie will SUCK :P haha Thor and Captain America will ROCK this summer!! MARVEL FTW!!!!!! :D
Vital - 1/17/2011, 11:50 AM
lmao @ sober's comment. Good stuff man, good stuff lol.
soforizo - 1/17/2011, 11:50 AM
I too was disappointed by the GL trailer, but Blake is more likely to take away from this movie rather than add to it. I hate the fact that he's trying to protect her ass so soon, which in turn means bad publicity. The movie should live or die by it's merits
Vital - 1/17/2011, 11:51 AM
Tea... who's webcam did you hack into this time to get that pic lol?
kriswone - 1/17/2011, 11:52 AM
Who is Blake Lively?
ElBicho - 1/17/2011, 11:58 AM
Did they really compare GL to the Clash of the Titans reboot?

For the DC fans, I hope it's not true.

But the Marvel in me is thinking it could be bad.

Either way bring on our Deadpool movie!
