$40million Question: Is The Avengers A Low Budget Movie Or Shooting Expensive Scenes?

$40million Question: Is The Avengers A Low Budget Movie Or Shooting Expensive Scenes?

It looks like The Avengers are planning to assemble in Cleveland. But what's all this talk of a $40million budget? Are they making this movie on the cheap or spending a load of money on some huge scenes?

How do we know this is The Avengers? Well, how many other Marvel/Disney movies do you know of that'll be shooting in the next few months and recently pulled out of Michigan as we reported here on CBM a few days ago? Check out an excerpt from the interview here.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich said he has been in talks with city officials to bring shooting of a $40 million Marvel/Disney superhero movie to Cleveland.

The Republican governor said Sunday that the movie, which he would not name, was originally supposed to be filmed in Michigan.

Of course, this raises one major question. Will Marvel Studios be spending $40 million alone in Cleveland on what one can only imagine will be some truly epic action sequences, or is that in face the budget of the entire movie As Bleeding Cool point out, this may not include extras like special effects and promotion. It might just be a rough idea of what production will cost as they're saving the expense of filming in a city like New York.

Personally, I'd bet that this is simply what they're planning on spending in this one location, which begs the question: what exactly might that be? Be sure to share your thoughts on this in the usual place!

The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!
