Aw c'mon, it's just a bit of fun! I mean it's based on a silly comic from the 40s, lower your expectations people! Not everything can be True Grit after all, nobody is looking for any Academy Awards here. It's just fun y'know, popcorn, turn your brain off..

:)

This is a Classic.. "Gee whiz, we gotta get going, Mr. President."
BorisSenna - 6/30/2011, 4:54 PM
Wow.

I'm pretty sure that the Chris Evans and John Johnston movie will be a bit better than THAT! LOL!

That Red Skull mask looks like it was made on a jello mold.
YeaOkYea - 6/30/2011, 4:54 PM
I'm watching a special screening of this film this Saturday at Rave theaters in Las Vegas, NV! Can't wait! It's hosted by Maximum Comics. The COOLEST comicbook store ever!
NeoBaggins - 6/30/2011, 4:55 PM
Xenix lol Why wouldn't the new film be superior? That's like comparing Atari 2600 to PlayStation3 and bragging that PS3 is better.
WellDrawn - 6/30/2011, 4:56 PM
Not many people realize that Matt Salinger is J.D. Salinger's son...

Between the rubber ears, Cap stealing cars, or Cap getting knocked over from a womans purse, this movie rules.
Sortis - 6/30/2011, 4:57 PM
I agree Ror, I saw this movie when I was a kid and loved it, it's really not a bad film, just don't take it too seriously.
EditNinja - 6/30/2011, 4:58 PM
The director had his budget decreased, and got screwed by the producers.
It's lemonade, from lemons.
VkBLayZE - 6/30/2011, 4:59 PM

vermillion - 6/30/2011, 5:07 PM
Why re-release this before the movie comes out. Couldn't it hurt sales? :F I think Marvel should have done some animated shorts of Iron Man/Cap/Thor and put them on a DVD or something.
Pygmalion - 6/30/2011, 5:08 PM
haha, all the gunfire and explosions - is this the work of Bay's mentor? :P Oh, it could be his early work, right? It's not too much earlier than The Rock or Bad Boys...
Berger45 - 6/30/2011, 5:17 PM
Make mine Marvel! LMAO!!

GLprime2814 - 6/30/2011, 5:40 PM
I was 10 when I saw this andvit rocked, now noooot so much.
MGS - 6/30/2011, 5:42 PM
It ain't that bad. It's also not so good either, but it's better than the tv movies that preceded it starring that immortal slab of meat REB BROWN!
level1paladin - 6/30/2011, 5:47 PM
Trailer is better than that damn Green Lantern trailer that insists on popping up all day.
Rivehn - 6/30/2011, 6:00 PM
Level1paladin Now your just being a douche seriously.

Chekkarma - 6/30/2011, 6:04 PM
His head looks like a soggy and rotten cherry.
sexfoodcomics - 6/30/2011, 6:07 PM
What's funny is this movie scored only a little below green lantern on rotten tomatoes. Hahaha.
BIGBMH - 6/30/2011, 6:10 PM
The part that got me most excited was when I realized it had Otis from Superman the Movie.
kevberg - 6/30/2011, 6:12 PM
All Im gonna say is....RUBBER....FRICKIN'....EARS.
Kamdan - 6/30/2011, 6:13 PM
The quality of the trailer is the best treatment I've ever seen for the film. I hope this reflects what the DVD editions of the theatrical release and the director's cut will look like. If it's the same transfer they did for the video releases or when it was online for a while, I will be disappointed.
SHO1138 - 6/30/2011, 6:15 PM
I remember going to see TMNT and seeing the poster for this. Then it never came out. I saw it on HBO or Showtime a few years later.
jjmeylar - 6/30/2011, 6:18 PM
I dunno, guys. This may be worth a watch. I mean: it looks very crappy, but I bet it's kinda entertaining.

Xandera - 6/30/2011, 6:23 PM
It's so lame that it's AWESOME!!!!!

SentinelofLiberty - 6/30/2011, 6:23 PM
I watched this on Hulu a few months back, before it was removed. Much shittier than I remember it being when I was a kid. And for those of you who think the most important considerations in casting should have been "who looks the most like Steve Rogers" and "We have to remain completely faithful to the costume from the funny books," well....here ya go.
kevberg - 6/30/2011, 6:29 PM
@sentinelofliberty

An Italian Red Skull, and a outta shape Cap with a funky nose and rubber ears is faithful?
PirateOpossum - 6/30/2011, 6:31 PM
AWESOME!!! HAHA LOVE IT!!

and the trailer makes it look like a Troma Film!!!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/30/2011, 6:43 PM
@Intruder
How about you take ratings from a different website? Try imbd.
Green Lantern: 6.3 out of 10.
1990 captain america: 2.9 out of 10.
They are more reliable when it comes to reviews. Like I always say, more than half the people that gave Green Lantern bad reviews also gave Thor bad reviews as well.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/30/2011, 6:45 PM
@sexfoodcomics
Whats funny is that 3/4 of marvel movies all sucked and you bash on one DC movie.
GUNSMITH - 6/30/2011, 6:46 PM

NOW THATS AN IMPROVEMENT.
Madjestic1 - 6/30/2011, 6:51 PM
I put this trailer right up there with Green Lantern. LOL Couldn't help to take a swipe at that shameful movie. Maybe DC Comics are stuck in the 80's like Marvel was with awful movies like Roger Corman's Fantastic Four, Dolph Lundgren's Punisher, and this Captain America disaster. Thank God marvel has moved past that. Maybe DC will catch up.
mk - 6/30/2011, 6:52 PM
@thedarkknight

lol imdb
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/30/2011, 6:55 PM
@MK
what is so "lol" about that. They are much more reliable than rotten dumb asses.
SentinelofLiberty - 6/30/2011, 6:57 PM
@Kevberg, that's my point. Worrying primarily about casting someone who looks exactly like Rogers and making sure the costume is the traditional colors and design can lead to Italian Red Skulls who look like a rotten potato that someone covered in ketchup, and other assorted shenanigans.

My point is, when it comes to casting Cap, "acting chops + a uniform that is reasonably close visually but is also somewhat functional and believable > looking just like classic Steve Rogers + basically classic uniform."

@Intruder
And people don't bash on Marvel movies?
SuperPickle - 6/30/2011, 7:05 PM
Wow. An article about a terrible Captain America movie from years ago becomes a "Hate on Green Lantern" thread. Lovely.

I saw this back when it came out on VHS. It was TERRIBLE. And, as I recall, so were the awful Reb Brown Cap TV movies, the Incredible Hulk TV movies, The Dolph Lundgren Punisher movies, and the last two Reeve Superman flicks.

Let's face it, the 80's and early 90's were not a great time for CBMs. Unless you count Batman and Batman Returns - which were only "OK".
