While their following on Facebook is still quite small, the guys over at Marvel Cinematic Universe seem very up to date on all things Marvel Studios related, so it's not a stretch to believe they may indeed have heard something. However, that's all been news aggregated from other sources, so there's also NOTHING which leads us to believe the following is anywhere near 100% reliable. As with any rumor, it's best to take it with a huge pinch of salt...

Insider news: Benedict Cumberbatch of the BBC's "Sherlock" is being looked for an unknown role in a future Marvel Studios film.

With filming currently well underway, it's highly unlikely that this has anything to do with The Avengers, so could Marvel Studios be looking at Cumberbatch for a character like Doctor Strange or Ant-Man? With the success of Sherlock and the recent news that the actor had joined the cast of The Hobbit, it wouldn't be a huge shock for them to give him a leading role! Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

superbatspiderman - 8/11/2011, 7:11 PM
I can definitely see him as Doctor Strange lookswise at least. I don't think I have ever seen any of his works tho.
ScionStorm - 8/11/2011, 7:12 PM
Does nobody else see Malekith The Accursed?
InSpace - 8/11/2011, 7:12 PM
Idk personally I could see him as either Ant-Man or Dr.Strange, I'm going to have to say Pym though since he has more of a scientist look and he is comedic. ALso since he's a brit Edgar Wright might have a connection but who knows. Either way he's a fantastic actor and excellent in Sherlock.
InSpace - 8/11/2011, 7:13 PM
and hey he could just be a supporting character in Thor or something
RunDTC - 8/11/2011, 7:14 PM
why does everyone want Ant-Man so bad? he's an incredibly lame hero.
ScionStorm - 8/11/2011, 7:15 PM
Maximillion - 8/11/2011, 7:16 PM
He kinda look like Ant Man.
ScionStorm - 8/11/2011, 7:20 PM
Chewtoy - 8/11/2011, 7:23 PM
I'd consider casting him as the Vision myself, but I would doubt that's a role planned for anything that's close enough to shooting to cast.
JackDexx - 8/11/2011, 7:23 PM
LET HIM PLAY ANYTHING THIS GUY [frick]ING ROCKS ALL HIS ROLES!
JackDexx - 8/11/2011, 7:23 PM

^Technology keeps on shrinking. Why shouldn't people?
RockNRollCC - 8/11/2011, 7:29 PM
Dr Strange. Slick his hair back, give him a goatee, and he'd be awesome!
InSpace - 8/11/2011, 7:33 PM
wolverinesfury@ uuuumm Chris Hemsworth?

also Ant-Mans power is kinda cool he shrinks but still has the same strength so he just sneaks inside your ear and your dead also controlling ants to suffocate you to death. I think the film will have both shrinking and growing powers tho like in EMH
95 - 8/11/2011, 7:36 PM
"Ant-Man's a lame hero, why make a film adaption?" Who cares, more CBMs the better, it's not like we're getting left with the $9-Digit bill. Shit, smh.
FoxForce5 - 8/11/2011, 7:37 PM
I say, give him the Doctor Strange roll & let Simon Pegg play Hank in the Edger Wright directed Ant-Man.
secretasianboy - 8/11/2011, 7:39 PM
seems to young for strange
he should play a villian
