"There's great opportunity for that," producer Stephen Broussard told
Daily News about possibly revisiting the fairgrounds in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.
"Absolutely, there's more to explore there. It's a real place. That always helps people connect to these characters."
He apparently refused to reveal which movie will see Captain America return to his old stomping grounds, but went on to further discuss why Flushing Meadows (which also appeared in
Iron Man 2) is the perfect location to ground a character like Steve Rogers in the real world. The fairs proffered
"hope and promise of a better tomorrow" even amid rough times, like a superhero does he added.
"It carries with it an iconography that helps set it in the place. It was very important to us that we got some of the same imagery."
So, what of Cap's arrival in the present day?
"One of the things he's going to want to do is see how the city has changed." We already knew we'd see the Marvel Studios superhero having to adjust to missing 70 years, but I wonder how he'll feel about Iron Man, during his fight with Whiplash, wrecking the place?
