Captain America Producer Talks About Bringing Steve Back To Queens In Future Movies!

Discussing the Flushing Meadows location used in both Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger, producer Stephen Broussard hints that we'll soon see Cap heading back to Queens to see how it's all changed...

"There's great opportunity for that," producer Stephen Broussard told Daily News about possibly revisiting the fairgrounds in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. "Absolutely, there's more to explore there. It's a real place. That always helps people connect to these characters."

He apparently refused to reveal which movie will see Captain America return to his old stomping grounds, but went on to further discuss why Flushing Meadows (which also appeared in Iron Man 2) is the perfect location to ground a character like Steve Rogers in the real world. The fairs proffered "hope and promise of a better tomorrow" even amid rough times, like a superhero does he added. "It carries with it an iconography that helps set it in the place. It was very important to us that we got some of the same imagery."

So, what of Cap's arrival in the present day? "One of the things he's going to want to do is see how the city has changed." We already knew we'd see the Marvel Studios superhero having to adjust to missing 70 years, but I wonder how he'll feel about Iron Man, during his fight with Whiplash, wrecking the place?

The only way I'll watch a sequel or the Avengers is if they recast Evans. He just didn't sell me on his performance.

They should do a Titanic thing going on, have Stark, Thor, and Fury in a room talking to Rogers. Have Steve start going back during WWII and boom! Movie magic XD

Alas, Whedon doesn't do pull of your heartstring moments. He much prefer kick your heart in the balls moments.

I sure they cast Haley to play Peggy's niece Sharon Carter. Of course if they even bring Sharon Carter into the story line.

I understand why they are showing him Queens, I'm assuming that "futuristic" fair he went to with Bucky was in Queens. But he's from Brooklyn, whether it's the same island or not they are two different places. I would rather see him go to his hometown, that would be a much more heart felt moment.

Looks like he was a Dodger fan growing up, I would love it if he would go back to the site of Ebbet's Field to see what it has become today, just a bunch of skyscrapers. I know if the Yankees moves to the other side of the country I would cry my ass off! Cap would be equally distraught, but probably won't cry, lol.

@nailbiter111: METS SUCK!! LETS GO YANKEES!! lol ;)

@Lert- Captain America was the 2nd best comic book movie this year and 2nd best Marvel movie. IMO
@CBArtist- Chris Evans was find as Cap, I'm more worried about Ruffalo as Banner.
@FrankGarret- I guarantee Whedon will have Cap see Peggy again. Maybe even let them get their dance.

I also hope Hayley plays Sharon. She had great chemistry with Cap and I wish to see them together again.

I refuse to believe in any of that Amanda Righetti speculation.

Captain America is all but dead. Anything other than him being in Avenger movies would be pointless.

Make another Cap film with him being assassinated, and will call it quits for his franchise. ;P

i just checked imdb & it does say she is playing sharon carter in the avengers but we all know that imdb talk shit most of the time.

@Minotauro- Great plan! That's the way every comic book movie should end. Can you imagine Nolan's epic Batman trilogy ending with Batman getting stabbed in the heart? You sir have changed comic book movies forever and in my opinion for the better.

Money still matters to some who are willing to believe that a movie is judged on that only.

Funny though, Cap was almost bordline dissapointing in reviews on RT. I guess WB knew they couldnt handle the fanboy back lash and had to turn negatives into positives.. Heh, couldn't make that up.
marvel72
marvel72 - 8/14/2011, 12:51 PM
@ Minotauro

its still a good film & if warner which you like to think turn negatives into positives on rotten tomatoes reveiws to avoid fan backlash why didn't they do the same for the green lantern? see you've just made that shit up.
Minotauro
Minotauro - 8/14/2011, 1:06 PM
@Marvel72 - Made that shit up? You know you were part of that whining when the embargo was lifted. 79% is a C+. Not great, but good. GL gets hate like all hyped films with overly big budgets do.
