green lantern animated series sucks
HelaGood - 8/15/2011, 3:57 PM
@Froggy i didn't say the design... i was talking about the actual animation.

and yes, most superhero cartoons today have Bruce Timm overtones.
ISeeStupidPeople - 8/15/2011, 4:01 PM
The art looks exactly like the art from the original Batman: the Animated Series.
ALmighty1080 - 8/15/2011, 4:48 PM
looks cool
braveone - 8/15/2011, 5:34 PM
enough with this green lantern, he looks too gay-ish for most to like. bring on jon stewart from justice league instead. He's darker and more serious.
BlindLemonShemp - 8/15/2011, 6:16 PM
@braveone.... saying jon stewart is darker is racist.... shame on you
Bodwulf - 8/15/2011, 6:42 PM
Green Lantern is at negative 24 million in proffits now. Making Punisher War Zone once again the biggest money losing Superhero movie of all time at negative 25 million.

Im really disappointed. DC usually gets me with their animated work. Especially lately, since theyve been trying to move to a more artist oriented style(i.e. Under The Red Hood Superman Batman: Apocalypse All Star Superman) I would not only call this jump to cgi not only a HUGE leap backwards, but cheap and childish. I dont see why they couldnt keep with the style they already established in First Flight and Emerald Knights? Yes I personally think they could do much better then that even, but wpuld gladly take that art style over this "Brave and Bold" cgi style.
Honestly I cant believe Timm would revert to such an outdated style. As a cartoonist I think he would want to push himself. And from the look of the most recent DC animated features and shorts(check out Superman/Shazam: Return of Black Adam if you havent already)I really thoight he was steping up his game.
I have little doubt the show will rock, as I feel most DC toons do, but Im not sure if I can stomic this art style. And cgi isnt even the issue, Reboot, Beast Wars hell even that crapass Voltron remake were all watchable. This crap lpoks like its from a DS game for 5 year olds.
SigmaCenturion - 8/15/2011, 11:07 PM
the cgi it looks no good.
SigmaCenturion - 8/15/2011, 11:15 PM
and why is that lizardman anally skewered?
johan02 - 8/16/2011, 5:21 AM
@shadowvoyd yes, Bruce Timm is the producer but he is the one responsible for the look of all DC animated endeavors. Hes the one that says if the cjaracters are going to be well defined or his personally styled blockiness. As for the budget, I would imagen it not to far off from a direct to dvd short. I mean we're talking about a fully cg, what 23 episode series? And lets not forget that DC animation stuidos is going full crank at all times. Timms crew is always working, the same animaters that did this did the work on Batman: Year One. Not that youd notice.
And yes, this is Timms personal style but as the head of DCs animation department he gets first and final say of all things animated. When I spoke of him "steping up his game" I ment in an overall capacity. As in the overall product he produces. If you are known for doing things one way(as Timm is for his BTA blocky body style)but are capable of doing them in a better way, why would anyone want to remain stagnant? Especially an artist. And I cant imagen DC asked him to do it in his so overlly used 90s style of drawing as opposed to the much better more detailed and defined style his people have been working with the past few years.
Like it or not this IS a giant leap backwards in style and ability. Thats just a fact, it has nothing whatsoever to do with opinions.

NOT A GOOD LOOK!!
