For dramatic purposes, it´s easy to disconnect from a masked character, besides actors loved the opportunity.

See the "Judge Dredd" movie? Stallone didn´t used the helmet for more than 15 seconds.
Even Iron Man was carelessly opening his helmet all the time, so the Iron Monger and Whiplash.

Spiderman was also tearing his mask apart all the time, risking his identity.

I only hope the weapons aren't too similar to the HYDRA ones in Captain America: The First Avenger. And after Green Lantern, I'd be lying to say I'm not terrified about how all CGI aliens will end up looking...hopefully they'll have ILM working on this. (although WETA would be like a dream come true after Rise of the Planet of the Apes)

I m gettin a way better vibe off this then im gettin from the dark knight rises, believe it or not. These guys just deliver on whats expected and requested by fans (greatly improvd caps costume which im 100% happy with now and invovement of more villains-not just loki). I applaud marvel. On the other hand nolans production has seemingly fallen off the back end with the worst costume design ive seen in a whole long while (bane n catwoman) and from thr pictures the big brawl w the cops lookd like it was horribly staged. And dnt just say im A dc hater , im not - usually more of a batman fanboy even!

The Chitauri don't make sense because in the UltimateU, they were established in the WW2 era, and in Cap's film they were nowhere in sight. Not to mention that they're your poor man's Skrull knockoffs.

Anything X-Men related AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Period.

As for the rest of the choices, Marvel aren't going to put out an Avenger movie every year, especially if they all have to do with galactic races of beings when they don't even have a galactic hero already established to begin with. I think it's only logical that they opt for the most popular of them all which are the Skrulls vs. the Kree.

It was reported a while back that the only Skrull Fox owns is the SuperSkrull. So the Skrulls are fair game for Marvel. Even more so if the rumor is true and that they're getting the rights to F4 back soon. None the less, apparently the Skrulls are only HINTED at in this first film and AREN'T THE THREAT. So who's left?

Well there's only one other choice that not only could pose a threat but also establish galatic heroes for Marvel to use, and one of the most popular female heroes to ever be created next to Wonder Woman at that. And that's the Kree, establishing either Captain Marvel or more importantly Ms Marvel.

And if you think about it, you've got a director on board that has spent the better part of his life working with strong female protagonists. I'm not saying Ms Marvel will be in this film since no one in the reported cast fits the bill, but a sequel is only a script away and she could also get her own solo film which would make a hell of a lot more sense than a Black Widow spin-off.

EVERYTHING seems to point towards the Kree, even that alien weapon picture we saw. I think it's the most logical outcome.

i like the design of cap's suit, makes sense for it to be more streamlined to allow fluid fight movement. but they should make it look less like pajamas. i wouldve liked to see more protective padding, ala the suit in the dark knight. i mean, cap's still human, he aint bullet or injury proof

They are just practicing the scene in the pics where he has his mask off I think. Not shooting. Maybe not, but looks like it for me.

How about Atlanteans, these weapons look similar to those used by Atlantean sleeper agents in the Civil War Arc.

Shaman: Great minds think alike. I think Marvel REALLY wants to get a female superhero out there, especially since they can trump Wonder Woman from DC Films by getting her out earlier.

But Tea has a great point. Why motion capture if Kree or Skrulls? Either can be done without CGI enhancement.

So, we're back to square one? I still think the Kree make sense, but of course, speculation is speculation.

You're getting what you want and you know whats going to happen. Yeah, Nolan doesn't take fan request and even with set footage, you still don't know what's going on. I see why you feel the way you do.

The Skrull are shapeshifters they would need CGI suits to portray that in a battle.

I dont want it to be the Kree because I dont want to make the movie overly complicated with trying to establish new charactors, politics, and hystory lessons. The Skrull are primal enough to invade without explanation the Kree are too civilized to do that. With Loki and Hulk already we just need thugs or goons and the Skrull are perfect for that.

oh, and whiten up the grey bits already. Whats up with that? At least the Shield is finally red, WHITE, and blue.

What's Loki's envolement with all of this? What does he set in motion in this film that brings in an invading menace?

Also...Fury must have some idea of who or what they are going to be facing if he is putting a team of super heroes together to fight them. Has this been a growing threat (i.e. AIM) or something that he just wanted to be prepared for just incase?

Hush2010- That's where Loki comes in. Logically, i find the Kree would need a lot more conniving to be convinced of attacking Earth than the Skrulls. The Skrulls are primal enough to just follow the Kree to Earth for the sequel. You need a proper motive to establish a worthy villain in a film and in this day and age, a simple primal alien invasion just doesn't cut it. And if Loki is in this film, then he has to use his talents considerably or else he'll be a waste. We've already seen Banner as a part of the Avengers, so if he's manipulated by Loki, it would only be for the beginning of the film not the entire run of it.

comicb00kguy- IMO, Loki's the puppeteer and is already established. We're looking at an alien invasion but it has to be well thought out. Skrulls are too basic and wouldn't make a worthy first threat all on their own. So all they really need to establish is one villain, being the Kree Race. They don't really need to establish many key players in the Kree, just the leader of them and maybe his right hand general or something. That's very feasible for one film IMO. Add glimpses of Ms Marvel's origin in there like they glimpsed at Winter Soldier in Cap's film and BOOM! New female hero franchise of films to bank on as well as a hint of Skrulls following the Kree's footsteps to Earth for the Avengers sequel :)
