Hancock 2 Director Confirms Return of Will Smith and Charlize Theron!

Director Peter Berg confirmed for MTV News that both Smith and Theron will certainly be returning for the superhero-themed sequel!

"Everybody's going to come back for a sequel," Berg said in response to a question about the two megastars.

Berg's comments confirm what Theron told MYV last September when she said she'd happily return if the rest of the key players returned too.

"Riding the Will Smith train is a really nice train to ride!" she laughed.

The big reveal at the end of 'Hancock' was that [Spoiler Alert!] both Smith and Theron's characters are immortal gods who become vulnerable when near each other. For the sequel, Berg said we can expect the appearance of at least one more all-powerful god. What's more, he's got his eye on a well-known name to play a third superhero.

"We have someone in mind," Berg said. "I'm not gonna tell you who, but we have!"

	Hancock wasn't brilliant but it was an enjoyable movie. A sequel could go either way. If it's handled right it could be great but there's the big risk of it being a "tacked on for no apparent reason" movie. 	God this movie really blew. It had a lot of potential too. If you get a chance, read the script for "Tonight He Comes". 	I liked the first movie but it was a massive disappointment to what i thought it would be like after seeing the trailer! The whole 'guy with powers being an asshole' was what made it original in the first half so a sequel with the character as he was in the second half might not be that great!?! 	Actually, after watching GI Joe this past summer where one of the things that Myself and my friends agreed on is how they took a page (film wise) from the good ol folks in Japan where the action helped tell the story and how they flowed and intermixed the flashbacks of all of the neccessary principled characters such as Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow and Duke/Baronesse/Cobra Commander via action styled flash backs I believe that they can move a starting franchise such as Hancock forward with a direct SEQUEL but still manage to make the movie go back and forth from past and present with scenes of THE PAST (ala filling in with a prequel like element. Think of how they do things with Highlander. And since Will/Hancock is the backbone of this franchise you can do it from his and Mary's point of view and then expand from there. I still stand by that they need someone like Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson in the badguy roll. They are both athletic, and the quips and one liners going back and forth would be more than abundant to keep the movie flowing and entertaining. As long as Peter Berg and company don't accidentally pull off a lame "PLANET ZIEST" type background (ala Highlander 2: The Quickening) they should be in great shape.
