Hancock 2 Director Reveals More Plot Details!

After Thursday's news that stars Will Smith and Charlize Theron would be returning, director Peter Berg reveals more on the sequel's plot!
Director Peter Berg has told MTV News that "Hancock 2," while picking up after the events of the first film, will delve deeply into a prequel/origin story that will reveal fresh info about [Spoiler Alert!] the connection between the immortal god/superheroes played by Smith and Theron and how they came to be living in modern day Los Angeles.

"We're looking at exploring their relationship prior to when we first met them and seeing a bit of what happened as a prequel," Berg said. "I think we danced around the concept of an origins and we settled on something that is very substantive. That will be part of the sequel."

Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara, who have written for shows like "The Shield" and "Dexter" have been hired to write the superhero sequel. When MTV asked Berg whether the sequel would become a darker film than the original, Berg said we should expect the same mix of laughs and emotion.

"One thing we tried to do with the first one was balance comedy with more muscular drama, some would say to mixed results," the director said. "Obviously there were some critics who were not entirely down with that tone. But we believe in it—that we can find both. With Will Smith you get that rare talent who can do broad comedy and is also capable of real emotional drama. We wanted writers who we felt could capture both of those tones."

Why do you guys agree with LEE when he makes no sense???
Did anyone read the article???......guess what....most of it is taking place BEFORE the first movie.

Here it is again:

"We're looking at exploring their relationship prior to when we first met them and seeing a bit of what happened as a prequel," Berg said.

I think Hancock is one of the worst modern hero movies. I foresee this going nowhere. In no way was Hancock intriguing. His powers are bland, and the movie was riddled with absurdities and cliche. This is something that I will watch online as a last, last resort. C'mon, Michael Bluth. You can do better.

I Liked it!

For those that didn't, hey don't waste your time responding if thats the case.

You knew you didn't like it to begin with with.

Also, even if it was a Prequel and it has at least the same amount of Success in the Box Office, people will want for more Sequels and they will most certainly make them as well.

To each his own.

I'd see it whether its a preguel or sequel cus its a lot that can be done with the story either way.

Im stuck to see exactly how it will work...the prequel stuff should be great but the only parts of Hancock i enjoyd were the bits in the first half when he was an asshole! Hancock's story is over really - it would be a pity if it ended up as a generic/not very good superhero movie. :(
joshw24 - 9/12/2009, 1:10 PM
What if it was already there, joshw24?

@NubaX: Things change, and the internet is the perfect venue for me to tell you how much I hate Hancock. It's like... trying to make a Watchmen movie without using the squid ending. Oh, wait....

I like USING my time to tell you that I don't like it. Don't feel that I am wasting it one bit. Hopefully, you don't feel like you are wasting yours reading my comments. ;)

Hancock was a great superhero movie, until they added in that piece-of-crap "we're-gods-on-earth-andwe're-immortal-and-we-can't-be-together" twist. I have no idea how a prequel will turn out, but it probably won't be anything especially amazing.

I like Big Willie, and I love delving deeper into a dark side of things. I don't mind seeing the origin on the two characters, and would look forward to seeing such.
teneas - 9/12/2009, 3:23 PM
the concept that ties the two together is weak; the first movie sucked. talented actors in a movie not worth its salt. how bout we migrate this entire cast into a movie franchise worth doing...or rebooting... cloak and dagger, blade...lethal weapon...oh wait...

WELL MAKE IT, I WANNA SEE WHO THE THIRD DEMIGOD WILL BE.
GUNSMITH - 9/12/2009, 4:29 PM
