Hello CBM’ers kinghulk here again to talk about guardians of the galaxy, how it might impact the MCU going forward and expectations for the show sown with Thanos. POTENCIAL SPOILERS

LAST WARNING

Well I think I’ll start off with saying how much fun guardians of the galaxy was in fact ive got come and get your love stuck in my head. I personally loved the movie but it makes me wonder what Marvel are up too we have seen 3 infinity stones now and now all 3 seem further away from thanos’s grasp than before. So one of them is now on asgard when it was previously on earth, the aether is now in the collectors museum (should be easier to get than the tesseract) and now the power gem which was previously on Morag is now in the position of the Nova Corps. Just the fact that thanos has so far not got a single gem makes me think that marvel are playing this out for longer than I thought they would.

So that’s 3 gems down and 3 more to be introduced (quick note I don’t think loki’s sceptre is the mind gem). We all know what will eventually happen Thanos will eventually get his hands on one and when he does there will be chaos. I feel from now on the cosmic side of marvel needs to take centre stage in the form of a guardian’s sequel, Thor 3 and potential films such as the Inhumans, nova or Ms/Captain marvel.  I personally want to see a huge infinity style crisis that unfolds gradually throughout these different films until we get the show down between the avengers and Thanos. I think this chaos will begin with Thanos getting a hold of 1 of the remaining gems/stones.

I would like Thanos obtain 1 stone in a film which basically sets off a chain of events that will eventually lead to Thanos vs the galaxy. With someone as dangerous as Thanos possessing an infinity stone a galactic council could be formed to address the threat and show unity while some empires/planets fearing for their existence could join Thanos like the badoon or the skrulls. I imagine the black order battling the guardians on a remote planet for possession of another infinity stone with the guardians slowly gaining the upper hand until Thanos shows up. I’d like to see large infinity style battles in space against Thanos’s forces with thanos eventually showing up in asgard in a similar manner to how he showed up in Attilian (or he could show up on Attilian).

My main point is that when this starts I want to see a star wars level galactic war that spans multiple films such as guardians 2/3, inhumans/captain marvel/nova and avengers infinity part 1 and 2. It would start off with just focusing on the guardians but then everything would start to mesh together with captain marvel or nova joining the guardians to help. I also belive it would be very enteratining to see the guardians battle the black order. Then perhaps the Inhumans could be dragged into the war due to possessing an infinity stone. Perhaps during a battle above earth the Inhumans could use a terrigen bomb which would have considerable consequences in the future for the MCU. Eventually the avengers would get involved, perhaps iron man would go to investigate and then inform the avengers what is going on and they help knowing the earth is also at risk.

slaughters billions in an effort to gain the infinity stones. Each individual film could have infinity as a subtitle or for example infinity saga or infinity watch, just to stress that the events are overlapping and connected. But eventually Thanos needs to bring the battle to earth, perhaps one of the remaining infinity stones are brought there. Im picturing a large battle between the fleets of the galactic council against that of thanos and his forces in an attempt to prevent them from reaching the earth’s surface with multiple galactic heroes and avengers fighting. But ultimately some forces get though perhaps through the use of the Tesseract perhaps landing at different areas on the globe such as Melbourne, Moscow, Mumbai, Havana and so on.  Once on earth this is where the black order would battle heroes like captain America, hulk, hawkeye and lesser known avengers recruits like smasher, starband, nightmask and manifold battle Thanos’s armies. The avengers would slowly gain the advantage but that’s when Thanos show’s up. After this anything could happen and most likely loads of heroes would die, and it is difficult to come up with a satisfying way to defeat him.

I keep repeating this but I constantly fail to see why people want Thanos for Avengers 3 when if he is Marvel's endgame and he threatens the Universe, it should also involve EVERYONE to oppose him. And "EVERYONE" is far bigger than the Avengers, they would only be one group of many alongside the Defenders, Heroes for Hire, etc.

klone- i did not say in the article he would be in avengers 3, i just want to talk about when he does emerge from the shadows and threaten the universe.
kinghulk - 8/6/2014, 3:38 AM
question did you actually read it? because i pretty much say i want the entire galaxy to unite against him.
sikwon - 8/6/2014, 6:09 AM
@king hulk... I agree completely and I'm fairly sure Marvel is headed this way. They are building towards epic on 2 fronts, earth and space. They have shown nothing but patience and that they are firmly looking at the big picture, cosmic events. Infinty, infinity quest, infinity gauntlet, we are getting versions of those stories. And they are being done surprisingly well. I mean when I read the infinity gauntlet as a kid I never thought it could be a movie, let alone a series of movies using the basic star wars and comic book templates AND be done extremely well. It's frigging amazing.

sikwon- exactly, this if done over multiple films and done right could be one of the greatest events in cinema history. i imagine it staring with the guardians against thanos, with then the nova corps joining when they find out and eventually the spartax and other uniting knowing how dangerous thanos is even without just 1 gem. then maybe a nova film or a inhumans film where at some point in the film perhaps the kree show up or thanos himself. just have these cosmic characters crossing paths as the event unfolds. it would be epic.

personally i loved last years infinity and i feel the basic story would suit a galactic crossover especially if blended with elements of other stories like infinity gauntlet.

I think a version of the Terrigen bomb will actually be detonated in Avengers 3 (like I said previously, the big showdown with Thanos won't be in Phase 3 and the Avengers won't fight Thanos until Phase 4 or 6) so throughout the following following phases we'll see the inhuman descendants start to appear and by the time the Infinity Gauntlet comes we'll have a whole army of inhumans along with all the other superheroes that have been introduced.
kinghulk - 8/6/2014, 7:13 AM
alphadof- yeah i think a terrigen bomb needs to be detonated at some point. when is anyone's guess. also it means kamela khan can appear after all she got her powers from from the terrigen bomb if im not mistaken.
Alphadog - 8/6/2014, 7:15 AM
@kinghulk She can but I don't think they're going to introduce that version of Ms Marvel so soon.
kinghulk - 8/6/2014, 7:17 AM
alphadog- she could be carol danvers side kick maybe? either way it opens up a lot of doors.
tvor03 - 8/6/2014, 9:55 AM
they aren't waiting til phase 6 to fight Thanos. Do you honestly think they can keep all these actors for 20 years? Or everyone's attention? No, Thanos is coming to earth in 2018 or 2019.
Alphadog - 8/6/2014, 10:10 AM
@tvor03 They're not going to keep all the actors obviously. By the time they fight Thanos we'll have a very different group. And we know that they expect to have a phase 6 because Kevin Feige said that they have plans up to 2028 which is when Phase 6 will end.
Pasto - 8/6/2014, 10:31 AM
Respect. I've got the same freaking idea.
kinghulk - 8/6/2014, 10:34 AM
pasto- great minds think alike ;)
GliderMan - 8/6/2014, 10:36 AM
There are 3 out of 6 infinity stones introduced but yeah let's wait til phase 6. The audience--hell even I--will have lost interest in the whole Thanos/Infinity Stone story by then. Thanos WILL be the bag guy in Avengers 3, or whatever the big movie is slated for May 2018. I promise.

Really good article. Thumbs up from me.

One question from me- How do we know Thanos doesn't have a stone? He's the most powerful being in the universe.

I think that if Thanos doesn't have a stone, he will capture Adam Warlock (with the Soul gem) in the prologue of GotG 2. The rest will follow pretty much like you said
Alphadog - 8/6/2014, 12:29 PM
@GliderMan Promise all you want but you'll see your wrong probably around SDCC 2016.
Alphadog - 8/6/2014, 12:32 PM
@GliderMan And do you really think that all we need is to have the stones introduced? You really need to explore the cosmic universe before you destroy half the galaxy and bring Thanos out of nowhere. Two, three at most movies that delve a bit into that isn't enough.
kinghulk - 8/6/2014, 1:06 PM
sniktbud- we dont know if he has one and we dont know if he does so i just assumed he didnt.
GliderMan - 8/6/2014, 1:53 PM
@Alphadog Alright, agree to disagree. Two movies is enough, three movies is more than enough.
LordThanos - 8/6/2014, 4:03 PM
I want to burn the universe
Geotheleo - 8/6/2014, 8:11 PM
The way i see it all of phase one was about one of the infinity stones, then there were two in phase 2, if there are 3 in phase 3 that makes sense
thefrattycomicbookguy - 8/7/2014, 4:26 PM
I wold love to see avengers 3 be a two part film released in one year, but I really don't see something as recent as Infinity being how everything goes down. Hell, infinity is so recent I feel old admitting I haven't read it, I just know what happens cause of this site.
