Why wouldn't DC use a big commodity like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to play one of their lesser known heroes to the common public? Black Adam may be used for one or two films, but Shazam! will be in many. Why not slap another big name on all of those up and coming movies.

I like how you picked Faran Tahir. Because Black Adam is more middle eastern then African. So I agree Dwayne would make a good Captain Marvel. Plus I think if he plays Billy then we might get to see a battle between Superman and Captain Marvel.

Ok, first of all, the Shazam "announcement" is still just a rumor, not official. Plus, that 2014 comment could mean a lot of things. It could mean filming is starting, it could just mean that the official announcement will be made. Second, he said the character he was playing was gonna be a "pure bad ass mf." Well, while Shazam is certainly very, very powerful, I'm not sure if many people would describe him as a "pure bad ass mf." Also, while Shazam has never been played in the movies, he has been played on TV, so that part of the description doesn't work either (although I will allow that Johnson may not have been thinking about the TV show when he sent that tweet. Heck, maybe he doesn't know about the TV show at all.) Finally, while I'm not one to generally think that an actor has to look exactly the way the character is drawn in the comics, Johnson doesn't come even remotely close to resembling Shazam (other than the smile I guess.) And I could easily see him playing a villain, whether Black Adam or someone else. As far as that goes, you seem to think that Black Adam and Shazam are the only two options. But nothing in his tweets suggests that. He just made one tweet about GL and Black Adam being his favorites in response to a question, that doesn't preclude another character being a possibility. In fact, he said that he and DC had agreed to a "character," not a "hero." So it could easily be some other villain. Metallo, or maybe Doomsday or Darkseid (using motion capture.) So no, while I don't know who he is playing, I definitely don't think it's Shazam.

@Lhornbk Yeah, I know the announcement is still just a rumor. That's why I had it in quotes. I don't think they are the only options, just in my opinion, highly likely based on body type and what not. And I agree with you, most of what I posted means really, nothing. But it sure is fun to speculate. :D

@Doopie Obviously (because of my name) if he was Lobo, I would be totally excited! However, the only story line I can fathom with Lobo, is one where he is an initial lackey of Darkseid. And, that would be awesome, in my opinion, but at this stage, I don't think it's likely.

I think the Rock should play Shazam, that way DC will have a non-white superhero outside of Cyborg that will get his own movie.

@Spidey5194 I do remember somebody saying they were going for a multi-cultural JL. I can't cite the specific source, but that seems to be the plan. And that is the exact reason why I chose Faran Tahir, plus he played a pretty menacing bad guy in Iron Man and if you look at him in Star Trek, his nose has a wicked arc in it, and he just looks pretty buff for 50.
