UPDATE: Michael Biehn Officially Returning As 'Hicks' In Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN Movie

The director had said he hoped to see Michael Biehn reprise the role of Corporal Dwayne Hicks after the character was killed off in Alien 3, and now the actor himself has confirmed that he's on board.

UPDATE: This is actually a fake Instagram account that fooled us all. So though Biehn may well return, it's not official just yet. Sorry!

Michael Biehn will be Hicks in Neill Blomkamp Alien

Though we all hoped to see Hicks again after Neill Blomkamp's concept art featured an older, scarred (and evidently resurrected) version of the character, we weren't certain that Michael Biehn would be returning to play him in the director's planned Alien movie. Well now the actor himself has posted the following to his Instagram page.

"It's official. I will be reprising my role as 'Cpl.' (Not for long...) Dwayne Hicks. With the go-ahead, Hicks will return with Ripley in mid 2017. Perhaps Hicks and Ripley well eventually get to second base in this one..."

Not a Corporal for long? Demotion or promotion? It'll be interesting to see how they pull this off convincingly. Either the movie will be set between James Cameron's Aliens and David Fincher's Alien 3 (unlikely considering the ages of the returning cast members), they'll say that wasn't Hicks' mangled corpse after all, or they'll be disregarding the last 2 movies in the series completely -- something Blomkamp has denied will happen. Whatever happens, it'll be great to have Biehn back as Hicks anyway. The movie is actually expected to begin filming as early as this July, and that's backed up by Biehn stating that he's had to pull out of attending the Sheffield Comic-Con in August due to Alien shooting conflicts.
