After passing on the chance to direct Ant-Man, word got out that Marvel was still interested in getting Adam McKay on board one of their movies. In the following video interview, Kevin Feige comments on this, and also (kinda) confirms a logline for the upcoming Inhumans flick...

Could we see Adam McKay direct Marvel's Inhumans movie? It's definitely a distinct possibility... but then according to Kevin Feige, he could also wind up helming any of the future films in the pipeline. The Marvel head honcho sat down with Collider while doing press for Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and confirmed that the studio was still interested in working with McKay, who was in line to direct At-Man at one point and worked on a script draft with actor Paul Rudd.

“Adam McKay is in the running for everything. Adam McKay is a great, great writer and director. He did an amazing pass on the Ant-Man draft with Paul Rudd for us, and I didn’t know him before then. And we got to know him through that and liked him very much, and have met with him a number of times trying to find something else, so we’ve talked about a lot of characters with him."

So it sounds like it'll only be a matter of time before McKay officially comes on board a Marvel project; the only question is, which one? Inhumans needs a director of course but then so does Black Panther and Captain Marvel -- though word is Marvel is hoping to set a female film-maker to that one. Feige was also asked to clarify if a rumored Inhumans logline ("a group of people that are given powers only to discover they might be part of an alien race”) was true or not, to which he responded: “Well I’d say that’s relatively fair, but that’s not official. I’ve never seen that as an official logline.” Probably just a matter of time! More at the link below.

What aboot McKay for Spider-Man? He's got a great mind for the wit required, and I think he could be perfect for Spidey.

The Other Guys. Lol. There's not a lot of evidence in his filmography that would say, "he's the man for the job", but I don't think Marvel even looks for that. Look at the Russos. They had little no experience with big blockbuster action movies, but they made man absolute gem. I think a passion for the characters, and a firm set of ideas on how to bring the story to life is all that matters. I'm sure Marvel would be around to help with anything that was required.

Marvel tends to play it safe with directors. A lot of their movies have been directed by the same directors.

Russos....buff said. No one believed in them and thier comedy roots and now look. McKay is a talented comedy writer And that could translate to other things. He's a writer AND director. Not every writer can direct and not every director can write. That'd a talent. Marvel had had a mostly great track record with directors and giving people chances has worked so well for themm...Russos

Hiring the Russos to helm CA-TWS was playing it safe?

Joss Wheaton directed avengers one and two, the Russo brothers directed Captain America two, three, and both Infinity War movies, James Gunn directed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Jon Favreau did Iron Man one and two, and now Adam McKay has a possibility to direct a second movie. It's not a bad thing they do this but it's still interesting.
