Bill Murray in GHOSTBUSTERS Fatigues, Script Finally Approved!

To accept the award for “Best Horror Movie” at the 2010 Scream Awards, Bill Murray appeared in a full Ghostbusters outfit!

The Spike TV 2010 SCREAM Awards (airing Oct. 16th) have really turned the corner as being one of the must watch award shows of the year. They are focusing on genre films of the past and present; and that recipe has us excited. This year the roof was blown off the Greek Theater in Los Angeles when Bill Murray accepted the award on behalf of the best horror movie, ZOMBIELAND.

Coming out in full Peter Venkman GHOSTBUSTERS fatigues to a standing ovation, Murray could not have excited the rumors of a third GHOSTBUSTERS movie any more. What a tease! Or is he? Not only do we get to see Murray back in a familiar costume, we are also getting confirmation from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that the newly penned script completed by Dan Akroyd has been officially approved. A third film will happen and the wheels are finally in motion.

Those of you following this story will remember Murray's only beef with doing a third movie was a hang up about the script. With old pal Dan Akroyd coming in to save the day and re-writing the script completely, things would appear to be peachy in ghost-busing land.

What do you think about GHOSTBUSTERS finally getting a threequel? Is it good news or would you rather the GHOSTBUSTERS live on via the video shelves?

The script part wasn't... I'm usually pretty well informed on these things.

But, thanks to you, I did some digging to figure out where it came from and it DOES look legit... just not press released yet.

Stefano Paganini, Sony's Product Marketing Manager in charge of Catalogue, Animation, and TV series, appeared at a Ghostbusters event in Rome, and told them that:

"I spoke about this night with my boss from Los Angeles. She allowed me to let you know that the script of 'Ghostbusters 3' has been approved so the engine has been turned on!"

This was reported by Ghostbusters Italia on the 14th about an event that took place on the 9th, just days after Dan Aykroyd told reporters that he was nearly finished with a rewrite of the script.

Like I said, that seems pretty solid.

So, pending approval by the four main actors and director Ivan Reitman (who each have the ability to kill the project if they're not happy), we could be getting word of a greenlight within a month.

They played the theme when he came out. It got cut out of the YouTube video, but it was on the tv broadcast.

GB3 all the way. I hope Winston gets more credit this time.

I guess no one remembers how GB2 wasn't funny. It was a rehash with the 'it's been done' feel to it. This could use a real re-boot or should be left alone.
Though Murray has done some entertaining roles in the last few years, Akroyd hasn't done anything funny...since Blues Brothers!
GB3 will just be a bunch of CGI, lame attempts at humor, and a mix of old and new 'Busters.
