LOS ANGELES - If there's going to be a third "Transformers" movie, director Michael Bay says he'll be back to make it.

And star Shia LaBeouf promises it'll be darker than the first two.

Bay and LaBeouf talked about the prospects of another sequel Monday night at the Los Angeles premiere of the second installment, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which opens Wednesday.

While a third chapter has not been officially announced, Bay said he intends to return to the franchise if No. 3 moves forward. But he wants some time off first, having just finished the second one.

"I will do it, but you've got to give us time," Bay said. "I need a little rest."

LaBeouf said he expects a third "Transformers" would carry the action beyond Earth and become "more of an intergalactic thing."

"Revenge of the Fallen" takes place largely on Earth as LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro and other co-stars continue their alliance with the benevolent shape-shifting Autobots in their war against the evil Decepticon robots.

A third movie also "will be darker. Something crazy will happen," LaBeouf said. "Someone has to die."

Now remember this isnt coming from Michael Bay. But im pretty sure Shia LaBeouf knows what he is talking about.

Going to see the 2nd one tonight, heard it wasn't that great so I will see for myself. If they do make a third, hopefully some dinobots show up in it :D

It would be cool if they went to a new Cybertron and Unicron comes to destroy everything they just created.
Bamf7 - 6/24/2009, 9:50 AM
Doesn't tell us much. But yeah, I would hope for Cybertron and Unicron also.
Sespar27 - 6/24/2009, 9:55 AM
Dinobots would be SICK. but I'm really hoping for less comedy. Considering one of the brief reviews I skimmed through, it unfortunately read "Transformers ROTF could be one of the funniest films of the year." STOP MAKING HIGH POTENTIAL BADASS FILMS INTO COMICAL PIECES OF TRASH!

GUNSMITH - 6/24/2009, 10:42 AM
I CAN SEE BAY GOING THAT ROUTE,IF I KNEW WHAT HE WAS THINKING(BAY)ONE ID WANT EVEN MORE ROBOTS,ID WANT TONS OF PRACTICAL EXPLOSION ON EARTH AND IN SPACE-ID TAKE SHIA MEGAN ALL THE AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS RACING BACK TO CYBERTRON TO FACE A BIGGER DANGER TO NOT ONLY THE HUMANS BUT TO AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICONS ALIKE(UNICRON-THE PLANET EATER),ID VISIT OTHER PLANETS OR GET STRANDED ON ON FOR A TIME(PLANET OF JUNK/QUINTASONS AND THE SHARKTICONS)ALL THE MAJOR PLAYERS WOULD BE IN TOW-DUMAHL-TYRESE-TUTURRO...DARKER?WHAT COULD BE DARKER THAN SPACE?VISITING OTHER PLANETS OR ALIEN OUTPOSTS? BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR WITHIN A WAR AGAINST A NEAR UNSTOPPABLE FOE. IT WOULD BE BAY'S CROWN JEWEL..AND PEOPLE WOULD GO GAGA OVER IT
Deathlok - 6/24/2009, 11:06 AM
If they plan to take this story further in regards to Cybertron, they're going to have to take the focus away from the human characters. I think it's very convenient that the whole cast sticks together for the second one. Does anyone really care about them that much?
BmanHall - 6/24/2009, 11:32 AM
I'm going to be watching this in another 5 hours!!! XD

I actually went on google this morning after seeing the second film "which was kick ass" and found out that the 3rd film is set for July 1, 2011.
Shaman - 6/24/2009, 2:00 PM
I heard a few explosions on the weekend, apparently Bay started filming already!!!
GordonBombaysRevenge - 6/24/2009, 3:04 PM
I want Tidle Wave and Dinobots!
RorMachine - 6/24/2009, 4:40 PM
I think he means, in the next one, we get 3 scenes of dogs humping, with actual full on canine penetration! Then, when Wheely humps megans leg, to stop him she will pick him up and suck him off.
Amandil - 6/24/2009, 5:42 PM
I want to see Grimlock, but Omega Supreme most of all.
Osiris - 6/24/2009, 6:10 PM
Dinobots would be cool and they wouldn't have to do a Beast Wars story line considering no one is talking about "Dinobot" they are talking about the Dinobots which are two completely different things, and besides the movies obviously take place after Beast Wars considering Scorpinox is in them.
Instantclassic - 6/24/2009, 8:06 PM
WOW another film, i agree with Michael Bay saying he needs time off, its understandable, i just cant wait for them to start filming and having a script ready
THEHAWK - 6/24/2009, 9:55 PM
Cool, and I can say I saw ROTF last week and it was good! I just got back from LA and I plan to take Jen tomorrow!

It was a funny film, but funny in all the right places. And the twins weren't that bad.
Lu - 6/25/2009, 9:00 AM
Let's hope Shia survives long enough to make to Transfomers 3. Making it 'darker' may not be in the cards given Bay's mentor Spielberg has final say.
drock - 6/25/2009, 11:05 PM
"someone has to die" Optimus dies and hot rod turns into rodimus prime and defeats galvatron
on3badmammajama - 6/25/2009, 11:24 PM
if someone has to die make it 50% of the human cast or else dont bother calling it Transformers again lol
TYLERWINN - 6/26/2009, 5:43 AM

MAJORSPOILERSMAJORSPOILERSMAJORSPOILERS.
good movie. not great. Space bridge teleportation-Let it slide. Secret Rail Gun that happens to be in exact proximity of super huge bad guy at a time when satelittes are down-A little to Deus Ex Machina BS for me. Where the F did Ratchet and Ironhide go for the entire movie???? Why the F weren't they there to fight with Prime? Please don't tell me its because they had to stay on the road because they were in vehicle-mode. The shot that cuts to them on the road while he is fighting highly suggests that. Why was Bumblebee acting like a puppy-dog? Why was he also only used primarily as a taxi? It was said the twins combined into a bigger robot at some point outside of a combined vehicle mode...Nope. Why the F did Jetfire teleport them to Egypt, give up and give them HIS 2000 year mission and then SPLIT...? He became an Autobot after merely asking is the war still going on...and as a personal choice??? REALLY? Why did they waste CGI on that crappy robot made of ball bearings? His formation was cool but he looked like what was left of Frenzy. Ravage could have done more damage on that base...pretty lame. Grindor=lame, don't know why but I liked Blackout more. Scorponok hides for the entire movie and survives the last one only to die in mere seconds...1st one had to much robot talkin and not enough fightin, this one just the opposite. Not that the fightin wasnt good, it was just not important due to that fact that several of the robots fighting were never really introduced properly. Constructicons LOOK FANTASTIC. To Bad the Introduction lacked any impact and the robot forms were hard to observe at times due to speed of the action. A tad overboard with the Slo-Mo, but this of course is Bay's signature. Maybe a new director wouldnt be so bad, just keep the writers and DONT RUSH THEM this time. Other than all that, Not too bad...3.5 outta 5. Almost as good as the first but def not better.

Lets hope they just shoot this one in the head and move on to marketable franchise....pez dispensers could use a good movie....doesnt have to make sense to make money...this one proves that
