They show Abin Sur crashing, then you see Hal Jordan standing over Abin, they made him look a little different than what we’ve seen in the comics and movies, instead of a mostly human shaped face, he seems to have these (for lack of a better description) what looks like curved horns pointing down from his jaw line. They’re not horns but the best way I can describe it (MrDCU: What he is referring to is the almost elastic looking way Abin's Skin is if you have seen the ComicCon pictures you know what I mean). Then they show him with the ring. There’s a scene with Hal and Carol in the locker room going back and forth a bit, Hal makes a comment about her helping him with his pants. There’s a scene with him talking to Tom about him not having fear and his friend gives him a look and he goes “yeah I know”. Another scene where Tom’s sitting on a couch and Hal goes “Check this out” and he instantly changes into his costume. Tom goes “That’s cool” Hal: “I know” Tom: ”What do we do now?” Hal shrugging: “Go fight some bad guys”. A scene where Hal makes a huge fist construct to right hook a bunch of bad guys. The construct looks solid with what seems like mist coming off of it, don’t know if they’re trying for an excess energy look…, There’s also a scene where he’s taken up to what looks like a ring in space that shoots him into hyperspace to Oa. It was a quick long shot of it, but that may be the way they are explaning what Abin Sur crashed in. They show Oa briefly. There’s a shot of Hector looking normal, then there’s also a quick shot of Hector with a bigger head.

MrDCU: I will explain some of the bits where the guy doesn't make sense. Abin Sur doesn't crash because of the hyperspace ring, he crashes because a Parallax possessed Krona attacks him when he is carrying the body of a dead Lantern (Sector 2015) to their home planet, which causes him to crash to Earth. Hal goes into hyperspace because of a fail safe in the rings where when he flies for the first time, he is automaically sent into hyperspace and to Oa for training.

Let me know what you are thinking about this trailer? I actually believe this guy and can totally see Warner Bros. promoting the film like this in the trailers because it will look so cool and also have some humour, having an almost Iron Man/RDJ appeal with Reynolds. Because if you could change costume like that, you would totally show off to your best friend.

The Trailer is attached to Harry Potter and the Death Hallows - Part I which is released on November 17, 2010 so expect the Trailer the same day with fanatics going to watch it just to get the trailer on camera!

crimsoncrusader - 11/9/2010, 4:00 AM
I'm definitely getting this on my camera. That's basically the only reason why I'm going too.

not sure if this true cause the person said "Abin has curved horns pointing down from his jaw line. They’re not horns but the best way I can describe it"

that sounds like Green Lantern First Flight of what Abin Sur look likes.

jazzman - 11/9/2010, 5:20 AM
@MrDCUniverse

yea i notice the pic u put up but i would not call them horns like that person mention but a skin like muscle on his face.

how comes they did not add the Sinestro voice over. the comic con trailer had a voice over

oh well we have to wait and see.
marvel72 - 11/9/2010, 5:31 AM
it'll be online soon enough,i'm not wasting money to see harry potter.
Durranto - 11/9/2010, 6:07 AM
Since Harry Pothead part one is not going to be in 3d (and yet the 2nd part is... wtf!?) will we see the trailer in 2d? Will be disappointing if that is the case, GL is the ideal type of film for 3d to actually add something to a film.
THABATMAN - 11/9/2010, 6:24 AM
@crimsoncrusader

I work at a movie theater, and thats not a good idea lol

Cant wait for this trailer

@Intruder
Nothing so far give it that indication, so I don't know why you would think that.
Jonah Hex almost seemed like an afterthought to WB, whereas GL is being treated as a tentpole film.
jazzman - 11/9/2010, 7:47 AM
@Intruder

Watchmen
Superman8 - 11/9/2010, 7:49 AM
not so sure i believe this.
jazzman - 11/9/2010, 7:53 AM
@Intruder

well they done Watchmen, A History of Violence, V for Vendetta

maybe they aint in the same universe as Batman, etc but they are DC/WB films
Otisburg - 11/9/2010, 7:58 AM
if thats the actual trailer than Green Lantern will be worse than I thought....terrible.
jazzman - 11/9/2010, 7:58 AM
@Intruder

well thats something else your right just Batman Begins/TDK and the movie that should not never happen Superman Returns lol

Angelus - 11/9/2010, 8:17 AM
Dark Knight in space? Why the hell would we want Dark Knight in space? Intruder strikes once again!

BMP!
Ryguy88 - 11/9/2010, 8:40 AM
Intruder, you are doing it again, you are making irrational judgments on something you have neither seen nor heard anything concrete about...And this may not even be a description of the actual trailer.
SmokinIndo - 11/9/2010, 9:19 AM
@Jazzman

To be fair, graphic novels are a LOT easier to adapt onto film than, say... a mainstream comic book character with decades of history. With graphic novels, you've already got a backdrop to fall upon, a first draft of the script, and a storyboard to work with. If the graphic novel is considered great, then most likely the movie will be considered great.

Comic book characters are much harder. The story has to be rewritten completely, oftentimes merging several decades of stories into one coherent storyline. And with SUPERheroes, you've got the challenge of putting it into a medium that the entire audience can understand and not feel too detached from. There's a lot more risk factors and challenges associated with making comic book adaptations as opposed to graphic novel adaptations.

@MrDCuniverse

Even non-fanboys will find this brand of humor being described to be utterly stupid and unfunny. Halfway through reading the description, I told myself "this has to be a joke." But if this is very REAL, then God help the future of DC.
Linubidix - 11/9/2010, 9:21 AM
That was so awkwardly worded.
DukeAcureds - 11/9/2010, 10:10 AM
Are you saying Krona is definately in this movie? Possesed by Parallax?
I never really saw Krona as being about fear. He wants to know the truth of creation even if the price is absolute destruction. Where's the fear in that?
The Oans were the ones who were too scared to do what Krona did.
jazzman - 11/9/2010, 10:17 AM
@indoraptor12

i know all that lol

we just talking about DC films
GodzillaKart - 11/9/2010, 10:22 AM
Sure can't wait for the Thor trailer in HD.
skidz - 11/9/2010, 10:25 AM
They don't look like horns so much as aging lines for an aging man.
DukeAcureds - 11/9/2010, 10:46 AM
It'll either be awesome or dire.
They've got the recipe for eggs benedict.
But we might get 'em scrambled.
Which is fine, I suppose.
Scrambled eggs are nice.
AlternateNo4 - 11/9/2010, 11:20 AM
yeah, i mean i know i'm a super GL fan and a super optimist, but i sort of agree with gaston. i think you critics are imagining this as a slapsticky exchange with hal waving his arms around and saying "i KNOWWW!!!"... and the "bad guys" line as being delivered with a cheesy, bruce campbelly tone. but the lines are totally in character for hal if they are understated.

the "i know" is intended to be a self deprecating remark indicating that he agrees that he is NOT without fear... and the "bad guys" line is pretty badass if he's halfway to a growl, realizing how incredibly powerful he has become and deliberately using that term in an ironic way. remember, script is only 1/3 of the experience... performance and direction will save or ruin all but the most abysmal dialogue.

either way it's less cheesy than waiting through four minutes of stark and potts yammering about the art collection, or nick fury reduced to a cheap gag about stark sitting in a donut. face it, asinine one-liners are part of movies these days. if "hockey pads" didn't ruin tdk, "bad guys" won't ruin GL.
SmokinIndo - 11/9/2010, 11:22 AM
@Gaston

That kind of humor is NOTHING like in Iron Man. Iron Man is smart and witty while the exchange between Tom and Hal is completely retarded and childish. I can't imagine "Let's go beat up bad guys" as being anything but stupid. However, this probably is FAKE so there is nothing to worry about.

AlternateNo4 - 11/9/2010, 11:39 AM
thank you, mrDCU.

besides, i trust campbell. he knows how to strike a tone and he's not going to blow it now. sure he made zorro fun by dosing it with some cliche and melodrama, but he drained 90% of the slapstick from the then-jokey james bond series in goldeneye... and went even further with the tough, mean, humorless casino royale. he knows how to get the right kind of delivery out of his actors, and how to give each script the tone it needs to succeed on screen.
AlternateNo4 - 11/9/2010, 11:52 AM
@indoraptor12

Iron Man WAS witty, but the sequel wasn't, because it confused "noise" with "action" and it confused "banter" for "dialogue." IM1 worked because stark earned a ton of cool points in the cave, when his humorous nature was castrated and he was forced to see himself as something more. after that, his humor was acceptable because we knew the real nature of the man it came from.

that never happened in IM2... stark was a shallow, jokey lush from beginning to end---even his illness was treated without gravitas. the only interesting character was whiplash, because he was the only one with a compelling motivation. AND he was only interesting during the opening credits.

so there! :P
AlternateNo4 - 11/9/2010, 11:57 AM
gee, superargo... i'm sorry. guess i thought discussion boards were for... well... discussing stuff.
i'll try not to bore you any more.
SmokinIndo - 11/9/2010, 12:09 PM
@AlternateNo4

Huh? I never said anything about the quality of Iron Man 2. But even in the alleged "awful sequel", the humor was far funnier and more competent than what we saw in this description. I hope we find out that Hal and Tom have a history with substance abuse, cuz that exchange sounded like something two potheads would say to each other.
AlternateNo4 - 11/9/2010, 12:14 PM
@indoraptor12

i wasn't trying to argue with you, or counter something you said... i was just offering an opinion on how cheesy dialogue can work sometimes and not work others, and how a lot of it has to do with production and tone, not just the words as written. i still think those scenes can be fine if they're done right.
skullboy - 11/9/2010, 12:59 PM
I'll catch this on youtube.
redlion - 11/9/2010, 1:33 PM
I'm hoping this is just a joke and not a description of the actual teaser b/c for lack of a better term it sounds...weak. Now, I'll say this..even if it is the teaser it doesn't mean the finished film will be terrible at all.
DukeAcureds - 11/9/2010, 2:39 PM
@MrDCU
-Are you kidding? Yes! Yes, I do wanna know the whole plot of Green Lantern. You seriously have that shit?
Krona is a multiversal singularity, they can't [frick] with that. The sacrilige of Transformers 2 already messing with the multiversal singularity of the Fallen was bad enough. He was the 13th not the 7th. Sheesh. Sacrilige. I'm hoping DC get Krona right.
Vital - 11/9/2010, 6:31 PM
This site is going down the drain, just read all the comments. *sigh*
