The fourth live-action Transformers film will make its debut June 27th, and it appears as though interest in the Michael Bay-directed franchise has not waned all that much, if at all. The Hollywood Reporter reports, "Those with access to tracking suggest the fourth installment in the action franchise will cross $100 million in its North American debut, besting the $95 million debut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April."

This isn't the first time we've heard reports of a 2014 on track to best the domestic opening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but all of them came up short. Godzilla came the closest with $93.1M. The rest of the top 2014 openings were from: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with $91.6M, X-Men: Days of Future Past with $90.8M and Maleficent with $69.4M.

Alright, so Transformers 4 will supposedly make over $100M, but how does that compare against the three previous Transformers films? The first Transformers opened in July of 2007 with $70.5M. The third film in the franchise, Dark of the Moon, opened in June of 2011 with $97.8M. Revenge of the Fallen had the best opening in the franchise with $108.9M in June of 2009.  Keep in mind, even if Transformers: Age of Extinction's domestic numbers come up short of these lofty tracking numbers, THR states, "It's also destined to do huge business internationally."

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION is the fourth film in director Michael Bay’s global blockbuster franchise. Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing , Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T. J. Miller, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor and Titus Welliver star. The film begins after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history… while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.

TRANSFORMERS 4 will be directed by Michael Bay, from a script written by Ehren Kruger. The cast includes: Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammar, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci and Jack Reynor. Set for release on June 27th, 2014!

The Transformers series is B.O (and I don't mean body-odor) gold.
AlexanderLykins - 6/12/2014, 5:21 PM
I'll see it once.
AlexanderLykins - 6/12/2014, 5:22 PM
I see everything!
RobtimusPrime - 6/12/2014, 5:25 PM
How much would these movies make if they were actually really good films?

Paramount is leaving money on the table, IMO.
CaptainHammer - 6/12/2014, 5:27 PM
Is this really any surprise? This movie will cross the billion dollar mark in a week mark my words.
KallarkKent - 6/12/2014, 5:30 PM
The last installment made almost 400 million in the US alone, and reached a billion worldwide, if it reaches 100 million opening weekend, wouldn't be surprising. It is very interesting that Summer blockbusters are still trying to beat an April movie.
SauronsBANE - 6/12/2014, 5:31 PM
That's...sickening. But unfortunately, not surprising in the least. Bayformers will always be a guaranteed money-maker for Hollywood, hence why we're most likely getting a whole new trilogy to make fun of and be offended by. Exciting times we're living in, right now!
SuperCat - 6/12/2014, 5:35 PM
I'll see it. But this is bullsh*t! MERICA!!
MrSotoMan - 6/12/2014, 5:36 PM
My wife just asked me If I am seeing it.

Told her flat out. I got what I wanted, I'm done.

The hype for giant robots doesn't excite me as it did when watching the 2006 teaser did. The hype of seeing them in live-action as well, its gone. The movies did their job for me, and I'm done.
SpiderFraud - 6/12/2014, 5:41 PM
I rather get a sequel to The Rock.
McNyagano - 6/12/2014, 5:41 PM
Seeing it at a press screening. This sin't really surprising for the TF films, this films make money because Bay gives the people what they want: Cool Big Robot action and explosions. That being said, I can't wait to see this film!:D

SpiderFraud - 6/12/2014, 5:43 PM
Not even a big robot wielding a sword on a robot dinosaur can make me go see this film...I never thought that can be possible for me.
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 5:46 PM

I am trying to publish an article for the last 15mins, but nothing is displaying. Can you take a look?

SoundWave - 6/12/2014, 5:48 PM
The Main Movie of 2014!!!!!
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 5:49 PM
Its displaying. :)

TASM2 under-performed this year so maybe this will too, highly unlikely though.
nailbiter111 - 6/12/2014, 5:50 PM
Brainiac13 - you didn't post an article, you posted a tweet.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/12/2014, 5:51 PM
News like this makes me lose faith in humanity
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 5:53 PM

I was going to add stuff to it.
Ryguy88 - 6/12/2014, 5:54 PM
Snotzo - 6/12/2014, 5:54 PM
When was this not expected.
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 5:54 PM

I just wanted to post it before anyone else......then start adding stuff. :(
HavocPrime - 6/12/2014, 5:54 PM
Thought this was going to be obvious tbh
0megaDaGod - 6/12/2014, 5:56 PM
This type of article is becoming a kiss of death

We're a 3rd of the way thru June and we havn't even had a movie beat the opening weekend - let alone the box office take - of a 'political thriller/CBM' with a budget of $170M released in the beginning of April with the words 'AMERICA' in the title. I'm not sure if that's more embarrassing for the competition or just more impressive for Cap.

I won't be able to catch this in theaters, which actually makes me kinda sad because it looks visually amazing, and is the first Transformers movie to NOT feature Shia Labough. The last one actually put me to sleep, as Bay had basically abandoned anything resembling story, character and logic, and instead decided to settle on nothing but spectacle without any of the elements which make spectacle both engaging and rewarding. The trailers for this movie at least look like they're trying to make me think the movie won't suffer the same fate

Anyway, good luck to this movie and the trolls on opening weekend. Fourth times the charm

Ryguy88 - 6/12/2014, 5:56 PM
The first was good, mindless fun. The 2nd and 3rd word so mindless that they became boring and repetitive.
Ryguy88 - 6/12/2014, 5:58 PM
Omega be careful, your Marvel boner is showing.
Pasto - 6/12/2014, 5:58 PM
Post the article along with the plot of MOS. Use that as a placeholder. THEN add more stuff.
Pasto - 6/12/2014, 5:59 PM
Be careful, your dumb-ass is showing.
ParisSun - 6/12/2014, 5:59 PM
These Transformer movies are garbage but they sell. The Asian markets loves robots as much as the US. I expect this movie to cross $100 mill easily and hit 1 billion plus.
RR51 - 6/12/2014, 6:00 PM
We as humans have to be better than that.
Destined - 6/12/2014, 6:00 PM
It's expected tbh...And I will be watching.
DaVinci31 - 6/12/2014, 6:00 PM
So many WB/DC rumors . . .
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 6:00 PM
If I post it again......Nails probably delete it again.
Pasto - 6/12/2014, 6:02 PM
No he wont, just add a tad bit more than a tweet. Like I said, put the MOS plot in there as well THEN add your other hoop-blah.
Brainiac13 - 6/12/2014, 6:03 PM
Ryguy88 - 6/12/2014, 6:03 PM
Blackspider, are you and Omega gonna have a sword fight?
DrVenkman - 6/12/2014, 6:04 PM
I doubt this very much
nailbiter111 - 6/12/2014, 6:05 PM
Brainiac13 - I was pretty clear. Write an article. By the way, the focus of your headline was wrong. MM and Darkseid aren't the story, Maxwell Lord is the story.
TheFox - 6/12/2014, 6:06 PM
Please don't remind me that this movie is getting made.

The Transformers films are a blight on the face of cinema. They are a perfect symbol of everything that's wrong with Hollywood today, and they're the reason that huge C.G. explosions and eviscerated big cities dominate so many major summer releases these days. And they're just plain awful.

Just let the damn thing earn a billion dollars already so I can forget it ever existed.

TheFox - 6/12/2014, 6:08 PM
I will say this, though: the first film wasn't horrible. It was watchable, at least. I think that was Spielberg's influence more than anything.

But good GOD, did it go downhill from there...
