Let's get ready to rumble! Looks like Legendary Pictures is setting up a monster-on-monster fight between Godzilla and King Kong. Today at their Comic-Con panel, Legendary announced a new King Kong film, Skull Island. They made the announcement with a teaser trailer featuring King Kong and his ground-shaking roar. Skull Island first appeared in the 1933 King Kong film. The fictional island is the home of giant gorilla and many other unusual creatures - many of whom were thought to be extinct.

KING KONG - Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) brings his sweeping cinematic vision to King Kong. Get ready for breathtaking action in this thrilling epic adventure about a legendary gorilla captured on a treacherous island and brought to civilization, where he faces the ultimate fight for survival.

KING KONG was directed by Peter Jackson, from a script written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson. The cast includes: Naomi Watts; Jack Black; Adrien Brody; Jamie Bell; Andy Serkis; Thomas Kretschmann; and Colin Hanks. With a budget between $207 to $243 million, that film pulled in $550.5 million at the worldwide box office.

SpiderFraud - 7/26/2014, 1:32 PM
Godzilla should team up with King Kong, travel to a different dimension to fight a army of Jaegers, piloted by Bryan Cranston clones.

AsgardianHobo - 7/26/2014, 1:32 PM
They are speculating that after Godzilla 2 and Skull Island, King Kong vs. Godzilla might happen.

That would be epic!
ScorpioRisin - 7/26/2014, 1:32 PM

CaptainHammer - 7/26/2014, 1:35 PM
Andy serkis better be back as kong
SpiderFraud - 7/26/2014, 1:35 PM
If King Kong is the same size of Godzilla, he would just snap his neck (if he can dodge that atomic breathe).

Godzilla ain't boxing with King Kong with those tiny arms.
Nubase - 7/26/2014, 1:35 PM
damn did not expect this
TheBlasi - 7/26/2014, 1:36 PM

According to the description I read, this King Kong is A LOT bigger and more savage looking than PJ's version!
mbembet - 7/26/2014, 1:39 PM

JamesMan - 7/26/2014, 1:39 PM
After Del Toro presented Crimson Peak:

With the CRIMSON PEAK proceedings over, Guillermo looked to the crowd and asked two questions: 1) Hellboy 3? Crowd goes bananas. 2) At The Mountains of Madness? (Del Toro’s long in development passion project) Crowd goes bananas. Del Toro grins and says, “Good”, points off stage. “Because they’re listening.
JamesMan - 7/26/2014, 1:40 PM

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 7/26/2014, 1:41 PM
So it's not the same Kong as PJ's?
AsgardianHobo - 7/26/2014, 1:42 PM
No, it is not a sequel, prequel or the same ape in any way supposedly.

@JamesMan

Yah, that mention of Hellboy 3 was really surprising!
marvel72 - 7/26/2014, 1:43 PM
excellent news,can't f*ckin wait.
Facade - 7/26/2014, 1:43 PM
Didn't care much for the Skull Island half of PJ's King Kong. I'm open to the idea of another Kong film, though.
WhiteSAMURAI22 - 7/26/2014, 1:43 PM
If they hadn't shown some actual footage, I would have expected this movie to never get made. Just doesn't seem like something they'll go all the way through with.
MrCBM56 - 7/26/2014, 1:44 PM
Cool. PJ's KK was fun... When we FINALLY got to the island. I'm looking forward to this
MrCBM56 - 7/26/2014, 1:45 PM
