Roberto Orci ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), who has never directed a can of corn let alone a feature film was given the reins on the next installment of the
Star Trek film franchise that
J.J. Abrams ("Star Wars VII") nurtured for the past two films. In July, Orci gave fans pause as he revealed that Paramount hadn't given a greenlight to the project because not even the first draft was completed. But a few days ago, Orci dropped by
trekmovie.com and left two messages confirming the first draft was completed. His first post, "
p & m & I wrote, "fade out" yesterday on first draft. things are moving." The "P" and the "M" are referring to his two fellow screenwriters
Patrick McKay and
JD Payne. Orci's second message clarified any confusion by stating, "
First draft is done."
