From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. James Gunn is the director and the story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. It releases in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2014.

Rocket kind of looks like an Ewok.
COREY6487 - 8/19/2014, 10:25 AM
damn... these are awful. rocket looks like a ewok ffs.
Superior - 8/19/2014, 10:26 AM
Art skills are on point, but the design of some look a bit weird.
Phronesis - 8/19/2014, 10:27 AM
There were definitely better designs for for Gamora, who was so bland it's ridiculous.

Drax looked alright to me. Groot was pretty cool, though not the design I would've went with. Rocket was perfect.
Superior - 8/19/2014, 10:27 AM
I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking about Ewoks.
Phronesis - 8/19/2014, 10:28 AM
The detail on Groot was amazing, though.
MrMartinMarvel - 8/19/2014, 10:28 AM
Jeeze, these concepts are creepy, AND gross.
Phronesis - 8/19/2014, 10:29 AM
They were going for a more scruffy look for Rocket at first it seems.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/19/2014, 10:30 AM
The suits are all better but not the actual characters.
blackandyellow - 8/19/2014, 10:32 AM
That Groot looks like Swamp Thing and Predator had an anal baby.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/19/2014, 10:33 AM
LOL Rocket looks like Chewbacca!
RobbleRobble - 8/19/2014, 10:42 AM
I like Gamora's look and the more muscular build. Zoe did a good job, but her slender frame and her previous martial arts experience is better suited for Mantis.
BillyM67 - 8/19/2014, 10:43 AM
Just saw this on Sunday and it was great! However, I am really concerned that all of these Super Hero and comic book movies are getting too violent and offensive for kids to watch. My 10 year old son loves the Marvel and DC characters, but they had some seriously bad language in Galaxy. The other movies are getting that way too. And I can't let him see any of the Batman movies because they are dark and violent. Can't they make at least a few comic book movies that are kid friendly.
TheUnknownX - 8/19/2014, 10:43 AM
Rocket looks like a mini Chewbacca
Liderc - 8/19/2014, 10:44 AM

0megaDaGod - 8/19/2014, 10:45 AM
LOL. Wut

batz11 - 8/19/2014, 10:46 AM
For the Horror version of GotG, sure...but man, dark shit...
BabyGroot - 8/19/2014, 10:48 AM
Man-Thing?

:P
RedNTheHood - 8/19/2014, 10:49 AM
So glad they didn't put my girl Zoe Saldana in that shit
Maxi91291 - 8/19/2014, 10:50 AM
Wow, this is some alternate universe shit .... BUT I like the Gamore outfits.
Dotanuki - 8/19/2014, 10:50 AM
I like the battle armor on Drax. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that in the sequel. Damn, Gamora's got the thickness. I don't even know if there is an actress that could fill that role.

Groot looks odd and Rocket looks like Gimli.
Dotanuki - 8/19/2014, 10:53 AM
@BillyM67

Disney has Big Hero 6 coming out this fall. That's aimed at children.
TelaVizion - 8/19/2014, 11:06 AM
Gamora is not suppose to be the size of a She-Hulk. Those are bad designs for Gamora in both body shape and clothing
GUNSMITH - 8/19/2014, 11:11 AM
DRAX SHOULD LOOK MORE INTIMIDATING. MORE SCARIER..THE "LITERAL" COMEDY THING REALLY TOOK THAT INTIMIDATION AWAY EVEN MORE.
FerFogs - 8/19/2014, 11:11 AM
My kids only watch animation. When they can assimilate what's going on in movies like those in the MCU or DDCU I'll let them see it.
FerFogs - 8/19/2014, 11:12 AM
@GUNSMITH - Disagree.
GUNSMITH - 8/19/2014, 11:15 AM

HE'S GOT A BUTTERFLY ON HIS FACE
npamusic - 8/19/2014, 11:21 AM
These look horrible. Whoever did these needs to go back to the drawing board. Fat gamora? [frick] you.
JorL5150 - 8/19/2014, 11:24 AM
i like the original guardians designs:

rocket racoon

star-lord-walker-killer-solo

nova corps

the hot chick from star trek, painted green:

talking tree man person thing:

CharlesLord - 8/19/2014, 11:28 AM
yea most of those are bad except for the drax ones.
Tidaltree - 8/19/2014, 11:38 AM
Rocket looks like being taken straight out of a Mel Brooks style satiric version of GotG.
capswidow88 - 8/19/2014, 11:39 AM
Third Gamora design gives me a she-hulk vibe. Or is that just me?

BillyM67 No. I don't want watered down versions of my superhero's. I'm sure your son can understand that he should wait to watch these when he's older if you tell him. Look for Big Hero 6 by Disney Animation. That's suitable for your kid.
specialkail - 8/19/2014, 11:45 AM
wow things could've gone pretty terrible. i like gamora's fat tits tho
case - 8/19/2014, 12:03 PM
Lol specialkail - me too.
EasternEagle - 8/19/2014, 1:53 PM
That concept art makes it have a Lord of the Rings type feel
ChowdaHead - 8/19/2014, 5:31 PM
Ya hey def made drax unintimidating. He just seemed like a dummy:\
ShelfPorn - 8/19/2014, 6:36 PM
Wilford Brimley as Rocket Raccoon.
PiggyV - 8/19/2014, 6:54 PM
@Chowdahead, Drax was a dummy but he used to be even more of a dummy in the comics, so I didn't mind it.
Gamora looked soooo shite in the movie. Like a background alien. I know Zoe is a go to gal on the comic movie scene these days but she's not intimidating in the least, and despite the fact she's obviously very fir she just isn't physically imposing. I loved the film but Gamora, despite her rep, wasn't great at all the assassin/fight stuff. Who robs someone in a crowded street in broad daylight with seemingly no getaway plan?
