"I am the future of strength as I am King of the Stones!" - Hafthor Bjornsson
Hafthor Bjornsson is probably best known for being the guy that killed Prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell (Pedro Pascal) on HBO's Game of Thrones. It kind of sticks in your head as your remember how his character, Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, beat The Red Viper senseless and they gouged out his eyes and made his skull explode. Cable! And now, he can another notable achievement to his life: being Europe's strongest man! This event actually took place earlier this month but for some reason news outlets didn't pickup on it until recently. Anyway, the 6-foot-9, 420-pound Icelandic strongman won the competition. He had some fun with it as he ripped off his shirt and shouted to the crowd, "I am the future of strength as I am King of the Stones!" Though, who could blame him as he has come close in the past. Just ealier this year he was the runner-up in the World's Strongest Man competition and "finished third the previous two years."
Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun. It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lust and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all will play the 'Game of Thrones.'

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Ser Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Queen Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke as Queen Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Aidan Gillen as Lord Petyr Baelish, Charles Dance as Lord Tywin Lannister, Natalie Dormer as Lady Margaery Tyrell, Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth, Stephen Dillane as King Stannis Baratheon, Carice van Houten as Lady Melisandre, Alfie Allen as Prince Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Jack Gleeson as King Joffrey Baratheon, Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Bran Stark, Sophie Turner as Lady Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Lady Arya Stark, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth and Jerome Flynn as Ser Bronn.

A fan casted Bjornsson in my XForce fan cast 2 weeks ago. Had him paired with Tom Hardy as Black Tom Cassidy. @DrKinsolving suggesting having Pedro Pascal play Black Tom. That's damn cool too.

Klone - 8/20/2014, 12:39 PM
@Pasto

Oh [frick] off. And no she isn't.

A Song of Ice and Fire, the actual title, doesn't reference her character.
DrKinsolving - 8/20/2014, 1:01 PM

@nailbiter111: I gotta say, putting that gif up top is kinda a jerk move. Yes, you and I have seen the episode, but I'm sure there are hundreds on this site who have not. It was a shocker and I, for one, would have been pissed if it was spoiled for me.
GodzillaKart - 8/20/2014, 1:52 PM
Man! He owned that competition! My joint hurt just watching it.
RetroFit - 8/20/2014, 2:24 PM
Thanks for the spoiler warnings!!! I'm still on Season 3.

doctormetallifan - 8/20/2014, 2:39 PM
This contest happened 4km from where I am sitting. I didn't know a thing about it.

A triumph of marketing for Leeds Rhinos'/Headingley Cricket Ground there...
