UPDATE! Josh Trank Prankster Conducts FANTASTIC FOUR Q&A

If you'll remember, and I'm sure you will. Late last month during San Diego Comic-Con an image of what appeared to be a leaked set photo of The Thing (Ben Grimm) from Josh Trank's upcoming Fantastic Four film appeared online. 20th Century Fox never came out and denied its authenticity, but some people were still skeptical. Today, the director rejoined Twitter after a bit of a hiatus and tweeted out a confirmation of the image and a message confirming that filming had actually wrapped today. Now that we know the image is legit, do you like the new and improved version of The Thing?

Update! Josh Trank just held an impromptu question and answer session on Twitter. He answered questions about: costumes, found footage rumors, Jamie Bell's motion-capture performance as The Thing, Toby Kebbell's Dr. Doom performance, Johnny and Sue connection, tone and the issue some fans have with Michael B. Jordan playing Johnny Storm.

Update #2! Seems we, the internet, have been fooled by an internet prankster posing as director Josh Trank. Collider is reporting that they have heard from a reliable source that the Twitter account is fake. While parody accounts of a celebrity are permitted on Twitter, posing as the actual person is not allowed. We'll see if 20th Century Fox pursues legal action against this prankster.

FANTASTIC FOUR directed by Josh Trank ("Chronicle") from a story and screenplay by Jeremy Slater and Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: Days of Future Past"). Kate Mara ("House of Cards") as Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan ("Chronicle") as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Jamie Bell ("Billy Elliot") as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Miles Teller ("Divergent") as Reed Richards /Mr. Fantastic, Tim Blake Nelson ("O Brother, Where Art Thou?") as Harvey Elder/Mole Man and Toby Kebbell as Dr. Doom.

Still a bit skeptical about this movie, but this comforts me somewhat.
batz11 - 8/23/2014, 6:31 PM
Cool...I'm gonna give this movie as chance...
ALegendaryPanda - 8/23/2014, 6:32 PM
That is so badass!
thewonderer - 8/23/2014, 6:33 PM
Good cast, Good director, Fox has been on a streak with good to great films. Have a lot of faith in this. But people here only care about seeing these characters next to Iron Man so they'll piss on it.

batz11 - What's going on? I haven't been paying attention.
blackandyellow - 8/23/2014, 6:36 PM
There goes my theory that it was the Invisible Woman :(
TheRationalNerd - 8/23/2014, 6:37 PM
So this basically kills all of the heat people was giving him/this film when Kate was finished filming a while ago? Either way I'm cool with the time period it took for them to film. Trank is a good guy and I respect him for keeping his mind focused on this film and less off of the negativity so many people were/are still giving it.

Other than that, I guess we'll have an official trailer/teaser come this October/November? I wonder if he shot any after credit scenes??? Hmmm...
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/23/2014, 6:37 PM
The question is, is he going to be that tall?
DefcoN - 8/23/2014, 6:38 PM
I honestly don't know what to expect from this flick. I've never seen such a level of secrecy in CBM before.
DrKinsolving - 8/23/2014, 6:39 PM
It might be a good movie but it'll still be The Foxtastic 4 not The Fantastic 4

SuperCat - 8/23/2014, 6:39 PM
Can't front. I'm impressed.
Interestein - 8/23/2014, 6:39 PM
Still my most anticipated movie of 2015 following Jurrasic World. I've had faith since he beginning; the only thing that worries me is Teller.
Maven - 8/23/2014, 6:41 PM
Damn. That shit is dark and gritty...

... At the same time.

JoJo1982 - 8/23/2014, 6:41 PM
I approve the Thing look, just make sure he's more orangey in the movie
SpideyQuad - 8/23/2014, 6:41 PM
Shame will never get to see him fighting the Green Goliath
AlexanderLykins - 8/23/2014, 6:42 PM
Hopefully they nail it! Fox has a track record of either very good movies or piss poor movies. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Maculis - 8/23/2014, 6:42 PM
this movie will completely flop...but the Thing looks Awesome. I'm just happy he's not 5'7 like the last thing.
xStarLordx - 8/23/2014, 6:43 PM
Ugh....
Bekss - 8/23/2014, 6:44 PM
It looks great but will they make it orange?
Or is he going with a dark, gritty and realistic Thing?
JoJo1982 - 8/23/2014, 6:45 PM
Just staring at it, that really is a badass looking Thing
Mercwitham0uth - 8/23/2014, 6:45 PM
Looks like a dump I took this morning. Foxtastic Fail gonna suck.
TheRationalNerd - 8/23/2014, 6:46 PM
Anyone else a bit skeptical about all of these "mysterious" 2018 films???

-I mean first Fox had an "untitled 2018 film"?

-Then there were rumors suggesting that Garfield signed a multimillion dollar contract with TASM 3 being pushed to 2018?

-And Marvel still (along with two others) has an unannounced 2018 film?

*Buuuuuut then again the 2018 film from Fox could be Gambit, X-Force, or even *sweats* Deadpool

*TASM 3 could just be due to the original writers getting caught up with numerous other projects

*And the 2018 Marvel film could just be another addition to the MCU.

But the thought/hopes of it would still be mind blowing without a doubt...

Looks pretty bad, but not surprising coming from this movie. Been watching F4 from 05 and aside from Alba, a shit doom and poor direction, the movie is pretty decent. Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm and Reed Richards are all on point. Maybe Reed is a little too whiny/love sick, but the rest of the personas were solid
dapug88 - 8/23/2014, 6:47 PM
Looks pretty good. So far this is the only "thing" I like from this movie.
TheRationalNerd - 8/23/2014, 6:47 PM
@earzmundo

Yeah, yeah, yeah tell it Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Days of Future Past...lol
nailbiter111 - 8/23/2014, 6:47 PM
batz11 - Thanks. I notified Nate he'll take care of it.
blackandyellow - 8/23/2014, 6:47 PM
Yo @mgeoff88, where ya been? You're one of the few voices of reason around here?
nailbiter111 - 8/23/2014, 6:48 PM
By the way, I think this version of The Thing is actually great. I'm impressed.
batz11 - 8/23/2014, 6:49 PM
Cool...thanks.

Yeah, I think this movie could surprise us, great up and coming cast...
String - 8/23/2014, 6:51 PM
Looks more like Bedrock or Badrock from Image. But I do like the look. Still need to see more before getting too thrilled. I don't want the movie to be like quasi-real like Chronicle. I want it to be Fantastic amd more superhero.
TheRationalNerd - 8/23/2014, 6:51 PM
@TalkinSoftball

What's wrong? Gonna miss the addition of powers the blonde hair and blue eyes gave Johnny? :(
TheAmbassador - 8/23/2014, 6:52 PM
Shit. Nate is about to disable HTML now... Gotta find some epic gifs to get my fix out of the way
TexasTwoFace - 8/23/2014, 6:52 PM
Looks way too creepy.
NoPhucksGiven - 8/23/2014, 6:54 PM
and so we wait for a trailer.
TheAmbassador - 8/23/2014, 6:54 PM
punisherX - 8/23/2014, 6:54 PM
Guys, lets just start calling this the Faketastic Four.
batz11 - 8/23/2014, 6:55 PM
TheAmbassador Exactly, that's what I'm afraid of most...if Nate gets rid of the images and html in the comments, that would really suck, but people are abusing the 'privileges'...it's gonna ruin it for all of us...
Dingbat - 8/23/2014, 6:56 PM
Looks cool. I'm excited to see more actually. Give Fox as much shit as you want but they've been pretty successful with the X-Men franchise especially as of late; let's hope Fantastic 4 follows suit.
dio - 8/23/2014, 6:59 PM
If it's good , awesome. I didn't hate the old FF flicks. Were they perfect? No. Although there were some fun and cool beats I did enjoy, I'll always want all of Marvel's properties under the same roof. That's when they have the capability to shine as was intended when they were created. To interact with the rest of the Universe that all the characters inhabit.
