In Summer 2014, the world’s most revered monster is reborn as Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures unleash the epic action adventure “Godzilla.” From visionary new director Gareth Edwards (“Monsters”) comes a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring Godzilla rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenseless.

Gareth Edwards directs “Godzilla,” which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kick-Ass”), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai,” “Inception”), Elizabeth Olsen (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche (“The English Patient,” “Cosmopolis”), and Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck.,” “The Bourne Legacy”) and Bryan Cranston (“Argo,” TV’s “Breaking Bad”).

GODZILLA will stomp into theaters May 16, 2014.

SO dissapoint with this flick. SAve your money and rent one of the Godzilla millenium series flicks. Way better (except for "final wars" Utter crap)
SCURVYDOG619 - 8/28/2014, 12:16 AM
That second pic looks like the Big G either has a thyroid condition or he works out with Takeo
SigurdJarlson - 8/28/2014, 12:17 AM
The scene where the two monsters were schmoozing it out was utterly painful to watch. The fights in Pacific Rim were done a lot better, too.
yonny616 - 8/28/2014, 12:19 AM
So happy how this film turned out. One of the best experiences I've had in theaters was watching this in IMAX. A true Godzilla film, even Toho loved it.
DeusExSponge - 8/28/2014, 12:20 AM
Loving the third pic with Godzilla is terrific!
Spidey91 - 8/28/2014, 12:23 AM
it seems today is concept art day.
anyway, that "extended" clip is missing the most awesome moment of the movie, the atomic breath reveal.
MPambassador - 8/28/2014, 12:25 AM
Loved Godzilla, could have used MORE Godzilla in his own movie, but overall very pleased with the final cut of the film.
SuperCat - 8/28/2014, 12:46 AM
Dat MUTO. Love this movie!
GuyRot - 8/28/2014, 1:00 AM
lol at the losers saying it sucked
JohnWilkesBooth - 8/28/2014, 1:30 AM
Doopie - 8/28/2014, 2:05 AM
don't give two [frick]s about the movie but the concept art is fantastic
Alien - 8/28/2014, 2:11 AM
My senses tell me iO9 is gonna post this soon. Seriously, they have a hard-on for Nail's concept art articles. Nice pictures, btw.

Humperdink - 8/28/2014, 2:42 AM

Nice job. Those are awesome.

You know, I wish they went with their original concept for why the three monsters were fighting in the first place.

The Muto's were parasites that implanted their eggs in the Godzilla species due to the radiation they generated. That's what the skeleton was all about.

The giant skeletal body of another 'Godzilla' where the first Muto emerged from laid the framework that the egg was in that corpse at one point. The Muto were like those insects that implant an egg into a caterpillar or a spider and either kill it and drag it somewhere to be consumed by the larvae or the egg eventually hatches and kills the host.

They just never touched on it, or brought it up at all. Even though it would have made the motivations a lot more understandable.

As it turned out, a lot of people were confused as to why Godzilla suddenly appeared and was tracking them down other than what Watanbae was saying about 'habitual behavior' ect, but in one of the script drafts the Muto were a natural predator of his species and they eventually came after him to implant the egg into so he was really defending himself and fighting off a natural predator.
MrNiklander - 8/28/2014, 3:15 AM
Good looking concept art and of course the movie was good
pepe - 8/28/2014, 3:58 AM
Heisenberg for 5 min o da flick sux
TheDarkKryptonian - 8/28/2014, 4:26 AM
Well, now we can tell who's seen the original films guys...
Seriously, in almost every movie in which Godzilla fights another creature, the focus of the movie is dedicated to introducing that other creature. Sooooo...what's the problem with this movie?
konoyaro - 8/28/2014, 4:46 AM
the movie is very good, something lacked though,IMHO it was the notion that bigG should be as menacing to the humanity as much as it was to the MUTOS.
before getting to the MUTOS,Godzilla should HAD STOMPED SOME ARMY TROOPS and destroyed some ships.
basically the enemy of my enemy is my Allie kind of deal.

Ruffus - 8/28/2014, 4:48 AM
I was pretty happy with it. My penis leaked a little when he charged up that first fire burst and his spikes lit up.
Maia87 - 8/28/2014, 4:57 AM
@TheDarkKryptonian "Sooooo...what's the problem with this movie? "

Badly-written characters and bland actors, constant teasing, Godzilla swimming around doing absolutely nothing.
TheDarkKryptonian - 8/28/2014, 5:36 AM
1) The characters were only meant to show how an event like Godzilla would affect normal people. They don't have to all be Bryan Cranston level actors.
2) The teasing was purposeful. The teased Godzilla so that the final reveal in all of it's glory would be a tense payoff.
3) How else was he gonna get there if he wasn't swimming? They showed him swimming so that his presence in the movie could be built up.
xXkryptoniteXx - 8/28/2014, 6:09 AM
The Godzilla film that actually was made from a true fan who understood the character. The film was actually a A film rather then a B or C. I can't wait for the next one.
xXkryptoniteXx - 8/28/2014, 6:16 AM
I also like how all people complain about was the tease. Tease are always the best just as long as it delivers in the end. Godzilla ends up fighting in the end with everything that Godzilla does and did in the past without being silly.

If you hate the tease I bet you also hate jaws, just think about it. The movie could have been bad if we saw everything of Godzilla in the beginning, you would have been bored. So when the sequel happens, it would be the same shit.

Let the sequel do what you crave with more Godzilla. As for this film, this movie is a great entry for the character. I like the look of Godzilla which he was a bear looking monster which shows that he is force of nature against any monsters of his kind.

A true king of the monsters.
MisterHolmes - 8/28/2014, 7:07 AM
think this is the 2nd best movie of the year. but its my favorite. Does that make sense?
MisterHolmes - 8/28/2014, 7:10 AM
people complaining not enoguh Godzilla. HAve you people ever watched the originals? Godzilla is only in the end most of the time. the first hour is a bunch of dubbed Japanese with the reveal of the Other monster. thats exactly what they did in this movie. you thought it was going to b like Pacific Rim with non stop action? doesnt anyone realize what their watching anymore?
cwb77 - 8/28/2014, 7:28 AM
Remember "Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster", where he fought that giant, f#@ked up lobster? I just love those old monster pictures. :)
Pox - 8/28/2014, 7:44 AM
Read the title as M.O.T.U. and was expecting some He-Man art...:/
DestroyallTroll - 8/28/2014, 8:47 AM
No, most of them have never seen the old Toho films; if they had they would reply or at least acknowledge your statement, which is asked in most threads on this movie, but they never do.
Admittedly the movie had its issues, and wasn't what I wanted or anticipated...but I still liked it. But most of the people complaining were PacifiC Rim fans, and so wanted non-stop battles, which is not what this movie was. And to the people complaining about the acting, I say, "Go watch Pacific Rim, then complain."
Cause it could have been alot worse.
CinemaHero - 8/28/2014, 8:48 AM
This movie really doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.
Sure, it definitely had problems, but at the same time, it got a LOT of stuff right!

Less teasing would have been nice, but teasing was better than throwing it all at our faces 15 mins in!
Seriously, all the old Godzilla movies followed this same basic formula! (Minus the multi-million dollar budgets... :P )
The director clearly was a fan, and wanted to make as respectful a movie as he could, while still updating it...and I think he did a GREAT job!

(But yeah, more fighting next time would be awesome. :P )
DestroyallTroll - 8/28/2014, 8:48 AM
and I liked Pacific Rim ok. Just accepted it for what it was. And that was not Shakespeare.
CinemaHero - 8/28/2014, 8:49 AM
Oh, and @Humperdink

You picked up on that too?
I kinda got the impression that Gareth assumed the audience was observant enough to pick up on that and fill in the blanks...

He might have underestimated some of his audience tho... :P

XF14 - 8/28/2014, 8:56 AM
Just saw this movie... What a waste of 2 hours.
ELxDIABL1TO - 8/28/2014, 9:02 AM
Loved this movie. But hated the stupid MUTO. Still don't understand why they didn't go into the extensive catalog monsters the Godzilla universe holds.
MisterHolmes - 8/28/2014, 9:40 AM
I agree, I liked both movies, and unlike a lot of people we can see that Godzilla and Pacific Rim are not the same type of movie, even though their both monster movies they are different
MisterBabadook - 8/28/2014, 10:04 AM
I liked the Motus. Godzilla shouldn't fight the same monsters over and over again, plus it was like old school kaiju versus new school kaiju (clover field)
thatcoldblackcloud - 8/28/2014, 10:25 AM
Great move. Could've used more 'Zilla action but overall it kept the whole feel of the original Toho films and had this "Jaws" tone to it. Loved it.
GuyRot - 8/28/2014, 4:06 PM
@ELxDIABL1TO legendary didnt own the rights to the original toho godzilla villains so they created new original monsters for godzilla to battle
Mike1100 - 8/28/2014, 8:50 PM
Guys we get it Godzilla had too much teasing and could have used more Cranston but you honestly can't tell me that you went to see a movie called "Godzilla" and expected great human character development. When I see a Godzilla film I want to see A: Godzilla and B: Godzilla fighting other monsters. I'm not saying the human characters shouldn't have been better or not in the film at all but they are really just minor characters that are apart of a much bigger picture.
JediPhilosopher - 8/28/2014, 9:57 PM
I didn't like the monster design. I didn't like the general plot. I didn't like the specific plot. To be honest, I don't know what I wanted. I wanted a real sense of fear of all the monsters. I just didn't feel it. Cloverfield was scarier, and it sucked. Godzilla in this waddles along as he walks kinda like he did in old movies, which looks simply dorky and always has to me. Sorry to say,as much as I disliked 1996 Godzilla, I disliked it less than this one.
JediPhilosopher - 8/28/2014, 10:00 PM
And I would think I'm kinda the taget audience, considering I used to watch all the old Godzilla movies and read books at the school library about the monsters.
riseofloganX36 - 8/29/2014, 9:53 AM
@maia86 thats a godzilla movie you know nothing stop comparing it to pacific rim. If ever watched a godzilla movie. Thats what he dose and thats what happends, and im sure if they did show him off the bat you still would still bitch. And thats why I went to see the actors. They took alot from the To ho movies. Quit your wineing and hitching the only thong it needed was a monster king gedora witch we will probably get in the sequel. For it being the first movie with godzilla I think they did a great job and am a true godzilla fan and not a winey little bitch like you.
