The premium cable network, Starz, has given the go ahead for a television series based on Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise. The show will debut in 2015, and Bruce Campbell will reprise the role of 'Ash.' The title of the program is, Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip. - THR

There will be 10 episodes that are a half-hour in length. Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man 2") will direct the pilot.  Raimi and his brother, Ivan ("Darkman"), along with Tom Spezialy ("Chuck"), will write the pilot. The managing director of Starz, Carmi Zlotnik, said, “With Sam writing and directing and Bruce Campbell returning to the screen, we are certain the show will give Evil Dead fans around the world the fix they’ve been craving.”

Sam Raimi said, “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”

Beyond in human flesh, inked in blood-and amazingly hard to pronounce-the ancient "Necronomicon" unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's outrageously hilarious sword-and-sorcery epic. Back to do battle with the hideous "Deadites," Bruce Campbell reprises his role from the Evil Dead series as Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk from S-Mart's housewares division. Demonic forces time warp him-and his '73 Oldsmobile-into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty (Embeth Davidtz) and faces legions of undead beasts, including a ghastly army of skeletons. Can Ash save the living from the dead, rescue his girlfriend and get back to his own time?

Army of Darkness was written and directed by Sam Raimi. His brother Ivan co-wrote the script. The cast included: Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams/Evil Ash, Embeth Davidtz as Sheila, Marcus Gilbert as Lord Arthur, Ian Abercrombie as Wiseman, Richard Grove as Duke Henry the Red, Bridget Fonda as Linda, Patricia Tallman as Possessed witch and Ted Raimi as Cowardly warrior / Second supportive villager / Anthony, the S-Mart clerk.
