The premium cable network,
Starz, has given the go ahead for a television series based on Sam Raimi's
Evil Dead franchise. The show will debut in
2015, and
Bruce Campbell will reprise the role of '
Ash.' The title of the program is,
Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip. - THR
There will be 10 episodes that are a half-hour in length. Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man 2") will direct the pilot. Raimi and his brother,
Ivan ("Darkman"), along with
Tom Spezialy ("Chuck"), will write the pilot. The managing director of Starz, Carmi Zlotnik, said, “With Sam writing and directing and
Bruce Campbell returning to the screen, we are certain the show will give
Evil Dead fans around the world the fix they’ve been craving.”

Army of Darkness was written and directed by Sam Raimi. His brother Ivan co-wrote the script.
