Mark Ruffalo Confirms THE AVENGERS Are Filming A New Scene Tonight

After Robert Downey Jr. let the cat out of the bag, many were still wondering if he was serious, and it appears as though he was. Mark Ruffalo has in fact confirmed that there will be an extra scene filmed tonight for Marvel's The Avengers.

At The Avengers press conference today Robert Downey Jr. informed reporters that he and the rest of the cast were to film one more scene this very night. The crowd reacted with laughter, and Downey Jr. responded with, "I'm not kidding." After that he said no more questions and exited from the stage like a boss. And now The Playlist has a scintillating update:

Mark Ruffalo: "We're shooting a scene tonight. I'm not sure exactly where it's gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, 'Here's some wardrobe. We don't know where you're going to be or what you're doing.'" - The Playlist

So, the million dollar question is, what the hell are they filming? Is it another scene after the credits? Could it be a death scene? I just don't know!

Pure Speculation: Let's say they are in fact filming an extra scene tonight, I think the most logical reason would be to include a cameo for Ant-Man. Kevin Feige earlier today hinted that Edgar Wright, who has been working on Ant-Man for over four years would tweet big news soon. Maybe they have finally found their Hank Pym? What do you guys think of that?

CBM's own cbchoice006 has given us a heads up that adds more fuel to my speculation.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

What kind of a stupid shit is this? The movie has already been finished editing and shipped to the U.K.

I call fake.
superotherside - 4/12/2012, 7:19 PM
What?!?!?! An after credits scene after the after credits scene?

I'm confused.
MrDuck - 4/12/2012, 7:23 PM
This is probably just for touch ups or something to fill in the blanks between shots, may be more though which is weird
TheBaroness89 - 4/12/2012, 7:23 PM
Bull---
so the cut Im seeing this saturday in nyc won't be complete? I say bull.
Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 7:25 PM
My Hope:

All the Avengers Assembling, cornering Spiderman after the events of The Lizard encounter (before the Avengers) saying that you are just a piece, we can be your suppourt. Would make sense because Spiderman saw all the fun coverage after the Avengers was filmed in fan speculation, there are reasons it could help both franchises.
clogan - 4/12/2012, 7:31 PM
I call horsecrap, this doesn't make any sense. Either they are joking or the website is kidding around.
superotherside - 4/12/2012, 7:32 PM
I guess they wanted something to even surprise the people who where at the premiere.

All I can say is:

;)

Beat ya grif :P
Marvelfreek94 - 4/12/2012, 7:35 PM
Perhaps another marvel one-shot?
Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 7:35 PM
@demonhunter

1. Marvel gets a slice out of Spiderman's box office reciets

2. Spiderman and Andrew Garfield are not getting too much momentum this time around, Sony is BADLY strapped for cash as well so they need success

3. Feige said they are working closley with Sony, more so then with Fox and the X-Men.

4. Word of mouth Spiderman excitement gets more people excited for The Avengers

5. Avengers 2 gets a new dynamic character, something to rebring the excitement.

6. Potential access to the Spiderman villians to MCU would open things up huge

7. Disney has been been pushing Spiderman XD despite not owning the rights, its strange

8. Disney owns the toy rights to Spiderman

If they are going to do it, there is a reason to sneak it in now and really expand the May4th weekends box office, would expect the appearence for the American cinemas only though- gives Europeans an additional reason to see it again after the deadline
Wildaniel - 4/12/2012, 7:40 PM
You know last night the cast looked very different then the characters they play. Scarjo had blonde hair, Chris Evans looked nothing like Cap, Chris Hemsworth and Robert werent rocking there character's hair or beard.

Unless they were in a makeup room for a few hours I dont see how this is true.
Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 7:41 PM
Forgot to mention how happy the internet was when it was speculated that Spiderman was joining the team. It could be a situation where companies are seeing the fan reaction, literally half the comments on Avengers YT video was wheres Spiderman
BrandoCalrissian - 4/12/2012, 7:42 PM
Weirdest part about this to me is Chris Evans' beard/goatee. Maybe he's not in this clip.
Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 7:44 PM
@Wildaniel

Hemsworth had hair tied up, he could pull it off. Can use RDJ, Ruffalo, Evans (hairpiece), and Thor talking with Fury about potential risks that exist and seeing Spiderman suddenly appear on screen as a potential member that may join them or something along those lines
ThreeBigTacos - 4/12/2012, 7:45 PM
Or maybe the cast we saw last night at the premier were all Skrulls throwing us for a loop!
95 - 4/12/2012, 7:45 PM
@Wildaniel

Yeah. I think that settles it. This is bullshit. Ruffalo would be in deep shit to confirm something like this AFTER THE DIRECTOR SHOT THIS DOWN. Either way, I don't see why Joss Whedon would lie. And I don't think RDJ would let something like that slip. Not happening. Film is signed, sealed, and in the process of delivery.
95 - 4/12/2012, 7:48 PM
But then again... It could be just Ruffalo and RDJ filming. Probably something for THOR 2 or IM3 or The Avengers DVD/Blu-Ray.
Ranger14 - 4/12/2012, 7:49 PM
There's still time for them to shoot a scene and get it added. Nothing that I am going to get all bent out of shape about.

"n no way, shape, or form will spiderman be connected to the MCU until the rights revert back to marvel, which wont be for a very long time"

Not necessarily true. When Sony and Disney met last fall there was a partnership that was agreed upon that goes beyond just the merchandising rights for Spidey. I don't know all the details, as my friend said they could get in serious trouble if they told me more.
nailbiter111 - 4/12/2012, 7:49 PM
Ant-Man cameo is my guess. Well, Hank Pym to be precise.
HouseSnow - 4/12/2012, 7:49 PM
[frick] ant man
Chewtoy - 4/12/2012, 7:50 PM
Captain America ended with the gym clip of Cap and the punching bag... Which is actually a scene in the Avengers. They're probably doing a little scene that will be in the next Marvel movie, be it Thor 2 or a surprise like Ant-Man. Sometimes its all about schedules... Maybe Natalie Portman was suddenly available. Who knows?
SiriusC - 4/12/2012, 7:52 PM
I love this. I love all of it. I feel like we're in a sort of Golden Age.
Vital - 4/12/2012, 7:53 PM
@Rhino, that's like apple letting microsoft use (and sell) their products for a certain amount of time. It's just not gonna happen lol. Or a better example, that's like letting Michael Jordan play for the Celtics for a few games (back in the day when he played). There are contracts, and "no fly zones" because of them. I'm sure all the movie rights between the two studios (Sony and Marvel) look like a web of shit lol. Yeah it'd be awesome, but it's very very unlikely.
ralfinader - 4/12/2012, 7:55 PM
Shit, hope they do this daily until May 4th!
darkmetal - 4/12/2012, 7:57 PM
That sort of thing happens alot for pickup scenes and etc., but if the whole cast was there it sounds like it was planned to avoid a reveal, because the cast would be in various locations now.
graveyardtramp - 4/12/2012, 7:58 PM
Maybe something for the future DVD release....
Vital - 4/12/2012, 7:58 PM
The only way I see Sony playing ball with that is if they get a shit load of the profits, and Marvel is like that paranoid super accountant person who never spends money on things lol. Marvel doesn't like sharing, let alone giving up money (of any kind, especially to actors).

I like Marvel so don't misread this as a Marvel attack cause it's not. (Sad that I have to put a disclaimer on my own comments so people won't misread it and freak the [frick] out lol)
SuspenseSmith - 4/12/2012, 7:58 PM
Ant Man hint most likely.
Ranger14 - 4/12/2012, 7:58 PM
By no means does my post mean that I think they are adding Spidey. My post was just in response to Demonhunter's post that Spidey could never be connected to MCU. Never say never. Just not at this time.
SuspenseSmith - 4/12/2012, 8:00 PM
RDJ and Mark both are the "scientists" and if anyone's going to have a connection to Hank, it'd be them. Also they are the only guys that could jump right into a scene today and look their characters.
JonnyVu - 4/12/2012, 8:00 PM
Avengers... This is Hank. Hank, The Avengers

OR

Avengers... This is Peter. Peter, The Avengers
Godzillafart - 4/12/2012, 8:01 PM
So it seems everyone has accepted that Avengers is going to be out of this world amazing....I hate to say it....kind of boring without the trolls.
SuspenseSmith - 4/12/2012, 8:01 PM
MOst likely it's not the whole team. It's one scene, and we don't know who or where it is. We might just end up watching the movie and never realize which scene was filmed.

Filmed tonight or five months ago, come May 4th, it won't make any difference when each scene was shot.
GreyChaos13Zero - 4/12/2012, 8:02 PM
they could be setting up a Hulk solo movie or something else?)

cmax - 4/12/2012, 8:02 PM
nothing to do with Ant Man.
GUNSMITH - 4/12/2012, 8:03 PM
EASTER EGGS!
HouseSnow - 4/12/2012, 8:04 PM
i feel like ant man is too hard to put into this franchise, how can you make a the caliber of these with a guy who shrinks and grows into a giant? i just don't buy it... i bet they set up one of the sequels, probably thor 2 since that is the next in line...
HouseSnow - 4/12/2012, 8:05 PM
make a movie*
SuperDude001 - 4/12/2012, 8:05 PM
If it's just Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo I could believe it as they are the only cast who still have the characters look (except Shield agents).
If so then I'd guess it's either one of those 'One-shot' things for the DVD or a different after credits scene (like Origins:Wolverine) hinting at specifc future films (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Ant-Man maybe).

Although I don't really believe this. I mean I hope it's true for some weird reason that it could be some awesome secret scene but realisticly I wouldn't think it is true.
thewonderer - 4/12/2012, 8:06 PM
@Godzilla

Avengers looks good and I will see

But it's confirmed Cap takes a back seat and Iron Man and Hulk are the stars which pisses me off greatly. Hulk not to much, but Iron Man yes.

All of the lines are so corny, I've sometimes felt pain at how bad they were, but hey I guess thats the appeal

Story seems to be meh at best, but I guess you don't go to a film like this for story

Way more excited for TDKR, but will see this

Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 8:10 PM
Pym or Lang (Antman) speculation would also make sense, they have been hinting at Antman like crazy with Feige and the scientists getting together would be logical. Would have to assume it was someone at the premier, maybe Scott Lang could be Dominic Monaghan. Seems like a guy that Edgar Wright could use comedically and seriously.
cbchoice006 - 4/12/2012, 8:13 PM
Edgar wright tweeted this a few hours ago according to slasher film.com. http://www.slashfilm.com/robert-downey-jr-claims-cast-shooting-scene-the-avengers-tonight/
Spidey31 - 4/12/2012, 8:16 PM
It would be cool if the scene is after the big battle in TASM and peters standing there with no mask on and nick fury and shield agents are on top of Oscorp and nick fury says

" when your 18.. I will own you" jabs Peter looks and swings off, pissed that his powers will make him lose everything! I got that idea from ultimate spiderman #4 return of the goblin
Lego - 4/12/2012, 8:17 PM
i bet its a cameo for Joss Whedons big ass forehead
dogmajedi - 4/12/2012, 8:17 PM
I was at the World Premier last night. There's already one KILLER bonus scene at the end of the film. I can't imagine what else they would add.
Ranger14 - 4/12/2012, 8:20 PM
cbchoice066@ Interesting recap of this subject on that link and it is interesting that Edgar Wright was back behind the camera today. First time in a couple years. Hmm....
Rhinoman - 4/12/2012, 8:20 PM
@dogmajedi- Without spoiling anything, is there a ending (and i mean just before the credits) where it is slowed down enough to the point where RDJ and Ruffalo can thank Pym for help on something?
SuperDude001 - 4/12/2012, 8:20 PM
If it is Ant-Man I may kill Marvel just for putting me through my mental struggle...
SuspenseSmith - 4/12/2012, 8:21 PM
"Was just back behind the camera for the first time in nearly two years. Can’t say on what, but it was cool…"
OdinsBeard - 4/12/2012, 8:21 PM
if it's ant-man i'll be let down :(
Kalel219 - 4/12/2012, 8:23 PM
@ thewonderer

I'm going to see The Avengers and TDKR as well but please don't talk like Batman won't have corny lines

"I'm not wearing hockey pads!"
"It was a big dog"

Story seems to be meh? Oh please, The Dark Knight had so much unneeded scenes, at the least Avengers will be straight to the point
