I saw the Star Trek reboot and Im not at all waiting for #2. If it was online right now, I would have to be pretty bored to watch it.
The main problem is the new guys never really fit into the roles. The weakest actor was Chris Pine and Kirk was also written very badly as well.
When Shatner walked the corridors of the Enterprise he looked like he owned the place.
Pine is just another guy. At no time does he or the character seem like a leader.
The rest of the cast is weak or just not convincing as well but other than Kirk the worst casting would be Anton Yelchin. But he also seemed out of place in T4 and Fright Night.
At the end of the film when Kirk is made Captain, it occurs in an unnatural way as if its merely predestined because Kirk was Captain in the series. He becomes a Captain easier than some become a fast food manager.

The new Klingon looks more sleek than the ones in the deleted scenes from the last film. Glad Abrams is finally giving Klingons their fair shake

@Gmoney: no, they put helmets on them to save the reveal of what the new series versions of Klingons would look like. Star Trek apparently wrote a reason into continuity for the appearance of Klingons going from just humans in face-paint in the original series to having ridged prosthetic foreheads in the movies and later series. Aabrams didn't want to lock himself into one choice or the other for the sake of a brief scene.

I think its a Klingon. IMO they wear the helmets out of shame. Some Romulans wore V-shaped helmets in the original series too, although I don't think that was out of shame.

@SkywayTraffic Are you saying Chris Pine was as good as Ruffalo in the Avengers? Im sure the Trek Reboot has its fans who will blindly defend it as something its not.
But facts are facts. And the cast of the reboot isn't even as strong as the Voyager cast. And Pine was a weak Kirk.
The story does not provide any real explanation as to why Starfleet would entrust him to Captain a Starship.
The guy is a reject and a fool for 98% of the film then for 2% he gets lucky and then Starfleet gives him the chair.
The movie was visually directed good but the story just didnt work. While they were trying to explain how Kirk becomes this Spock that, Kirk and Spock friends they did it like forcing circles into squares.
As for Pine, he embodied the whole problem of that Kirk. A person in a place he doesnt belong.
It was essential that he look like a leader before becoming Captain. He didnt come close. His Kirk is just some guy who will not do things the right way, just because, and does things a much harder way. He doesnt seem to bright either.
The movie at times felt like a spoof of the original. Or like Saturday Night Live actors pretending to be the original cast.
The bottom line is: If that had been the original Trek, there wouldve been no franchise.

What? Everyone knows that this is what Klingons look like, c'mon.

It's a Klingon in a warriors helmet. I think Chris Pine is fine as Kirk, he'll be even better in the sequel.
