CaptainJackSpareribs - 6/25/2012, 3:15 PM
Okay so I may be in the minority here, but this Cosplay chick stuff is getting old and stale - and I'm a straight male. The chicks who do this are nutty or starved for attention. Met YaYa at a convention I was working (promoting a film I did) and she was kind of stuck up. Then she met my wife (who's hot but was modestly dressed) and found out I was a legit filmmaker and then she started opening up/talking to me. The rest of the Cosplayers there were hot but bonkers in the brain. I mean the way they present themselves is nutty. They know too much about comics and sci-fi and want to tell you all about it. Dont get me wrong, they're good for a shag or too. But for a long term relationship/seeing them in again in public. Nah.

Realistically, any woman who goes out in public traveling the Comic-Con circuit and dresses in a tight spandex superhero outfit (without getting paid big bucks) is insecure and begging for attention and a little off her rocker. Don't believe me, talk to one for a while - my brain was fried afterwards. When I see these pics, I feel bad for these girls that this is what they want presented of themselves. The one I talked too for a while was a girl dressed as Zelda (little dress and all). The guys were hounding her and she came to hang out at our booth. She was batsh!t crazy. And any man in his right mind would not want his woman dressed in tight spandex in public unless hes insecure or gets off on other men oogling/approaching his woman. And don't give me that "I don't care, theyre hot to look at" speech, because if this was you daughter, niece, or little sister, you'd be embarrassed. Maybe I'm just getting older...
Fastestmanalive - 6/25/2012, 3:16 PM
Lara is the best out of all of them, Catwoman is second
Gerrit - 6/25/2012, 3:16 PM
Oh God, Lara Croft.
OnLeatherWings - 6/25/2012, 3:26 PM
That's the best Laura I've ever seen!!!!!!
Super23maN - 6/25/2012, 3:27 PM
@ Cap-- Save the speech, if I wanted to hear a sermon I'd go to church... Oh & Lara is the hottest!
ibravosp5 - 6/25/2012, 3:47 PM
Lara croft wins in my book.
CaptainJackSpareribs - 6/25/2012, 3:50 PM
@ Super23

Not a sermon. Just an observation. Am I required to only post the traditional "bewbs" or "FAP, FAP, FAP" on this post/thread upon seeing silicone injected women? No I'm not. I have a right to express my opinion. I'm sure not everyone feels the same about these ladies. Heck as much plastic/botox as these ladies use, you could look exactly the same. Hotness is natural, not bought.
billnye69 - 6/25/2012, 4:48 PM
Catwoman drinking the milk was hot.
Shadowelfz - 6/25/2012, 5:02 PM
Lara Croft and Yaya Catwoman FTW.
CaptainAmerica1 - 6/25/2012, 5:20 PM
WOW that Laura chick has huge jubblies!
colossus68x - 6/25/2012, 5:36 PM
The second picture of the asian catwoman with the mask and goggles is how cat woman should look in tdkr
XtommygunzX - 6/25/2012, 5:48 PM
Lara is the hottest but the second pic of her is way too photo shopped. It doesn't even look like that pic was originally of that chick.

Aizen8215 - 6/25/2012, 6:32 PM
Lara Croft is so fricking HOT.... DAMN!!!!
SWelch - 6/25/2012, 7:24 PM
@CaptainJackSpareribs

So does this theory apply to men who go to cons and dress up like the woman do?

I think your over thinking this. Sure I have met some woman at cons that seemed a little stuck(and not all in costumes) up but I would say in all the years I have gone to cons 98% of the woman who were there dressed up were there for fun and are perfectly nice.

"Realistically, any woman who goes out in public traveling the Comic-Con circuit and dresses in a tight spandex superhero outfit (without getting paid big bucks) is insecure and begging for attention and a little off her rocker."

I have to disagree here. That is like saying the people who start baseball leagues, softball leagues or bowling leagues and don't get paid for playing are insecure and begging for attention.

There is nothing wrong with men or woman going around to cons a dressing up as their favorite character. It's all done in fun.

Again I think your over reacting.
Minghagz - 6/25/2012, 7:51 PM
I pretty much busted a nut right when I opened the page. That first pic is hot!
DioFoRio - 6/25/2012, 8:23 PM

fistofthenorthstar - 6/25/2012, 9:26 PM
nice cat woman, and the croft aint bad...
mgeoff88 - 6/25/2012, 9:51 PM
Lara Croft is fantastic. Dayna put a lot of effort into her photoshoot and costume.

Mad Moxie is great as well.

@CaptainJackSpareribs Sorry, that's not what I know to be true. A couple of my friends are cosplayers and they're not anything like you described.

Also, so you're saying even though these girls are "crazy", it's perfectly OK if you just want to sleep
with them? I see you're a man that carries himself in gentleman like, classy manner...

It's obvious you don't respect women. Why would I take your "observation" of female cosplayers seriously? You would think with you being a filmmaker, you would have a better understanding of women and the crap they have to go through in the entertainment industry.

@SWelch Very well said.
CaptainJackSpareribs - 6/25/2012, 10:23 PM
@ mgeoff88

You're an idiot. And your post proves it. I don't respect women because I think when they (these Cosplayers) put on scantily clad outfits they do it for attention from guys (or girls) so they objectify them as sexual objects? Read the replies on this post I would say the majority of them are sexual. Most women would say YOU don't respect women because your defending this (and poorly I might add). I dare you to post these pics on a womens rights/womens studies site (specifically the one with Catwoman drinking the milk) and see how much they "respect" them. And as a male filmmaker, I go out of my way to show women in respectable settings attire BECAUSE of the fact there are Michael Bays and rap video directors who CONSTANTLY objectify women.

Angela Bassett turned down the role of Leticia in Monsters Ball because she didn't want to be seen as the black sex object to Billy Bob Thortons role (a white man that helped execute her black husband). Halle Berry took it though. And even though she won the Oscar, her reputation as a strong female lead (especially in the African American community) is all but diminished. And it's not limited to race either. How high has Chloe Seviginy's carrer soared after sucking Vincent Gallos cockasaurus in the final scene of Brown Bunny (and on the film sountrack cover I might add)?

Look, I like hot chicks as much as the next guy, but defending chicks who dress up to sexually entice others as if it's a victory for feminist rights is asinine (and I call BS on those who say "I do it for myself" - yeah right). Just sit back and enjoy it or say it's overkill/don't like so much of it (which I did). And answer me this, you would really enjoy your wife or girlfriend to dress like this when they leave the house. Some of you want to debate peoples opinions so much and "prove" someone wrong so bad it's disgusting. I stated my OPINION. It's America right. I have that freedom. I didn't post anything specifically about anyone on this board. I stated my OPINION...Ass.
facehugger81 - 6/25/2012, 10:24 PM
Lara Croft hands down... and it's too bad that the one thing I saw before the girl, in the Artemis pic, is the old fashioned Marvel comics neon advertisement?
thewolfx - 6/25/2012, 10:32 PM
i saw lara

i came

Hey Artemis is infront on my Comicbook shop Atomic Comics!
BenderDickCumPatch - 6/26/2012, 5:16 AM
DAT LARA CROFT.

stidham32 - 6/26/2012, 5:23 AM
@Cap - I've read through all your comments and I will say you have a point but, Riddle me this....

If your hot"modest" wife wanted to dress like that and go to one of these conventions and all the comic book fans at the convention came over to you and without knowing said she was the most gorgeous cosplay hottie they have ever seen would you be okay with it or give her the 42nd degree once you left and be little her for wearing such skimpy little outfits outside of the house? Or take the other route and tell them "yea that's my wife and she is gorgeous thanks!"
greenlanternsF - 6/26/2012, 6:08 AM
most of them are nice but boobs on croft are very nice
greenlanternsF - 6/26/2012, 6:09 AM
that's a massive load of jizz on retro catwoman
mgeoff88 - 6/26/2012, 6:14 AM
@CaptainJackSpareribs Not once did I resort to name calling, but you seem to have no problem doing it.

Calling me an idiot and an ass, nice. For such an intelligent person, you would think that kind behavior would be beneath you. Yes, everyone has a right to their own opinion. I'm not saying you don't. I'm just telling you I have a problem with what you're saying.

The other people in this thread did make sexual remarks toward these girls. I'm not getting on them because they're aren't out right insulting cosplayers like you are.

"And as a male filmmaker, I go out of my way to show women in respectable settings attire BECAUSE of the fact there are Michael Bays and rap video directors who CONSTANTLY objectify women."

Then why don't show that same respect for cosplayers? They are women too! That picture with Catwoman pouring milk on herself, you got me with that one. But some of the others aren't as over sexualized, and they obviously put a lot of hard work into their outfits and posing.

"I have a right to express my opinion. I'm sure not everyone feels the same about these ladies. Heck as much plastic/botox as these ladies use, you could look exactly the same. Hotness is natural, not bought. "

I agree with your last sentence. Everything is else stereotypical ergo void of any original thought. I'm sorry, you can't just assume things like that. That's shows ignorance on your part. And going by some of your comments, I think women's rights groups would have bigger problems with those.

So you are going to say these things about Heidi Klum? Kate Upton? Alessandra Ambrosio? Adriana Lima? I would think in your line of work you have interacted with models before. I have as well, and there was nothing fake about those girls. They were very genuine, sweet, and down to earth. According to you though, that's extremely unlikely when it comes to women that model.

And If I had a girlfriend or wife that was a cosplayer or model, it would be hard to get used to at first, but if dressing up(not for the attention of other men) and taking photos of herself makes her happy, then I would be OK with it. I would support the things she's passionate about.

If you don't respect these women, then OK. The fact you were so disrespectful in expressing your opinion is what made me think you were coming off more as jerk, then just stating an opinion.
EyeGore - 6/26/2012, 7:55 AM
@ CaptainJackSpareribs - You're wasting your time. You're the only adult in a room full of perpetrual 12 year olds.
LeoKragg - 6/26/2012, 12:14 PM
Women want to have a little fun, fantasy and adventure in life- some men get that some men don't- stop with all the female objectification talk. The ladies are doing it for themselves and the men that get it.
CaptainJackSpareribs - 6/26/2012, 2:14 PM
@ stidham.

I respect your approach. To answer your question though: I don't need/want my wife to dress like this in public. Scantily clad wife is just for me.

@ mgeoff

Thank you for the ever so predictable copy my sentence and dissect it to make yourself seem like your paying attention and dissecting my comments. Yes I called you an idiot and an ass because you picked a fight over something idiotic and your acting like an ass. I didn't call you a B*tch or a M*F'er.

And PLUUEASSE inform me what would be a respectable comment about me not liking these women. I didn't call them sluts or whores did I? No. You just can't take someone saying something the "majority" feels the need to call hot isnt. You can't process that. Everyone isn't gonna conform to liking female Cosplay. So I once again must reiterate that:

1. You are an idiot.
2. You acting like an ass.
3. Cosplay is becoming so overdone (especially posted on this site).
4. The MAJORITY of women who are doing it ARENT doing it because they like it. They're doing it to make horny guys like you drool. And in all actuality, they go after guys who DONT find it attractive (women want what they can't have).
mgeoff88 - 6/26/2012, 4:07 PM
@CaptainJackSpareribs Your argument is contradictory and hypocritical. You say your strive to respect women, but you outright disrespect these women, which is counterproductive to your overall goal. For whatever reason, you can't seem to grasp that concept.

They are women first! Cosplayers second. Cosplaying is just one aspect of their life, it's not the whole thing.
And look at your first post on here, you're pretty much saying that you don't respect these girls, but it's all good if you're just sleeping with them. You come off like a typical douchebag saying that.

Make horny guys like me drool? Did you even read what I wrote about these girls? I complemented their hard work.
I love women as much as the next guy, but I don't come on these articles to drool all over my keyboard. I have much more self control then that. Like I said, I love women. I just think in this sort of situation, these girls deserve all the respect they can get.

At least for the cosplayers who do this for the sole purpose of having fun by dressing up as their favorite fictional characters. These girls have to deal with a lot of creeps. It would be nice for them, if someone came a long and respected them for putting so much hard work into their craft. Instead of guys constantly hounding them, and disrespecting them.

Here's what you could've said:
"I don't respect these girls or what they do, because in my opinion they don't respect themselves. If you're into female cosplayers, enjoy. Personally, this just isn't for me."

And if anyone is being an ass here, it is you. I'm not asking you to like cosplay. If you don't like cosplay, that's fine. I was trying to make the point that you could be more respectful in expressing that. That is all. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.
CaptainJackSpareribs - 6/26/2012, 4:48 PM
@ mgeoff88

If I said what you just suggested, you'd flame me from here until the cows came home. What you just suggested is worse. I said something based on an opinion I formed NOT from just watching these women, but by working alongside them. I've met/worked with Yaya. So I'm not just talking out my ass. Yes - some of them are very nice. But the honest to God truth is if these women were your daughter(s), would you think this was all in good fun. Or would it creep you out knowing that pervs would be getting off to them. My OPINION stands. You don't have to like it. Move on and drop the conversation.

mgeoff88 - 6/26/2012, 5:33 PM
@CaptainJackSpareribs I wouldn't flame you for saying that. I don't go on here just to argue with people. I actually would prefer not to do it; arguing isn't fun for anyone. I would rather spend my time on here making my usual bad jokes and commenting on other articles that interest me.

I'll tell you, that is hard to answer. And you don't have to worry about seeing me comment on these kinds of articles anymore. It seems like when I do, I always end up getting in an argument with someone. I think that's pretty much it for me as far as cosplay articles go.
